My wife was not feeling well and the staff went out of their way to make something that she was able to eat. My meal was excellent as was the Pinot Noir served by the glass. The appetizer of mushroom cooked in a marvelous sauce was outstanding. The seafood paella, although a bit too moist had a wonderful taste. The ambiance was very friendly
AGAIN we brought friends and Chef Melba WOW'd them - we love to bring new people to Chef Melba's Bistro- the best kept secret in LA. Everyone was blown away with how good each dish was! my sea bass was insane it was so good...plus incredible wine! everyone was blown away with how good the food was and what a beautiful quaint friendly vibe and only one block from the beach in Hermosa! LOVE YOU CHEF MELBA!!
We love this restaurant! We go every time we are in the Hermosa Beach area. The food is delicious- fresh, flavorful, interesting. The salads (especially the heirloom tomato) and fish dishes are particularly good. Melba is truly an amazing chef, and she'll often come around later in the evening to say hello to diners. The service is professional and friendly. The ambiance is warm, welcoming, and relaxing. The prices are very fair given the high quality of the food. Can't say enough good things about this place- it's really special.

Mit Sicherheit eines der besten Restaurants in Hermosa Beach. Wir waren bei unserem 4-tägigen Aufenthalt drei mal bei Melba und es war jedes Mal perfekt. Schon alleine zuzusehen, wie Chef Melba in der Küche mit einem Lächeln im Gesicht mit den Pfannen jongliert, ist eine wahre Freude. Wir können das Melba wirklich nur empfehlen.

One of our top "go to" places in the South Bay. This visit was one of our best. A delightful, surprisingly different tuna tartar and a superb lamb shank were two of our best experiences.
We loved our dinner! It was a special occasion and John’s service was just as superb as Melba’s fantastic food. We loved meeting and chatting with both of them after dinner. It was a very special and memorable night!

Best restaurant in the South Bay. BUT, bring quarters for parking as many of the meters don’t take cards.
Very good but out of ribeye special before 7pm. Food server should never had mentioned it to us. One minute it was the special the next minute it was sold out. Only one food server for an almost full restaurant. Chef was fantastic
The food was excellent, but we were extremely disappointed with our waiter. He was not very friendly, appeared stand offish and bordered on rudeness. And the paying if the bill was the final thing which contributed to our disappointment. We were dining with a friend who gave us some cash for her meal which we added to our credit card to pay. He used the cash for his tip and put the remainder on our card, without asking us if that was what we wanted to. He gave himself a tip which was greater than what we would have given him. We do not think that we will return, even though we thought the food was very good. The manner in which you are treated by your server truly affects whether you return to a restaurant or not.

Chef Melba is our go-to place locally when we want an outstanding meal. Everything was delicious, from the Ahi Tuna appetizer, avocado toast appetizer (more than avocado and seasoned perfectly), to the 4 main courses: lobster, Thai Coconut "stew" with lots of seafood (a variation on Cioppino), leg of lamb, and fish n chips. Lots of flavor; all dishes prepared properly. And the crowning conclusion - Melba's sumptuous chocolate bag, filled with fresh fruit and a not too sweet custard (satisfying for all 4 of us. Another memorable evening.
Chef Melba wins you over right away with her personalized attention and big smile. Then you taste her food. And fall in love. From the Carneros Chardonnay to the Peruvian sea scallops to the Mediterranean whole branzino, the meal was one of the best I have had in decades of dining out. The flavor profiles are perfect. Everything is beautifully presented also. And the chocolate bag for dessert - amazing. I don’t usually order dessert, trying to avoid the calories and it’s not usually worth it...but this one is worth every bite. Even if you have to go to the gym in the morning. Worth it. And her daughter Melanie, who helps manage the front of the house, is a pleasure. What a discovery this was! We will be back often.
Chef Melba never fails to deliver a beautiful dish which is memorable! The flavors are paired to tantalize your taste buds. The portions are generous. The restaurant is small and intimate. Chef Melba greets you like a friend and will be sure you are happy with your food. Sample many appetizers as they are all wonderful and have some unusual additions.
We always go to Chef Melba’s when we are in the area visiting our father. The food is outstanding and Chef Melba is the best. This restaurant is fabulous. The fish specials and the Thai coconut soup is my favorite. We are always pleased with anything on the menu. This time we tried the bread pudding and it was very flavorful. I highly recommend this restaurant because You won’t be disappointed. Excellent wines as well.

As always, a great experience at Melba’s. The food is first quality, prepared with creative vegetable and sauce pairings. Our appetizer, the octopus, was outstanding with tender slices of octopus and tomatoes and other delicious stuff. We shared a marvelous salad made with Persian cucumbers and tomatoes in an elegant lettuce cup. Our entrees, Chilean sea bass, were cooled well with asparagus and a light sauce. Highest rating!
I thought the crab cake and prawns over linguini was fabulous and my husband said the branzini was the best he'd ever had. We both had the persian salad to start which was also delicious. Go and enjoy!
This is a favorite of ours; the food is wonderful and the service highly personalized! They make us feel like we are special every time we dine there. I love being able to watch her cook!
My first visit to Chef Melba’s, but my date’s third. What a wonderful experience. Chef Melba and her lovely daughter greeted us and proceeded to fill us with delicious food. We shared the poke, lamb shank, and “chocolate bag” and every bite was great. We live up in the Bay Area but we’ll definitely come back and eat here again.
Food was just alright. Nothing to write home about - sea bass was average at best. Czech server was entertaining

Went to Mother’s Day brunch, they advertised and we reserved a 3 course brunch 48$. Waiter (only after we asked)told us they were too busy and the 3 course brunch wasn’t available. No apologies, nothing, we arrived at 10:00 when they opened. They delivered entrees over the course of 25 minutes one person at a time (party of 4) first person was almost finished by the time the last person was served !!!! Very disappointing!!!!! Except for food, everything we ate was wonderful as always but the experience wasn’t, won’t be back
Our dinner at Chef Melba's was delicious. I enjoyed the lobster and seafood pasta special. The seafood was all fabulously fresh. At our table we also had the soul which was wonderful and the Coconut Thai seafood soup, always a winner! We finished off with the yummy bread pudding. It's always a delight dining at Chef Melba's!
Friendly neighborhood service. We enjoyed healthy and delicious salads and pasta, fish, mussels. Melba is there in the kitchen with her small staff and fresh and hand picked ingredients. I lost my earring and not only did Melba look under the table the following day.....She actually found it and called me to come back and get it. It' a labor of love and the food and wine and service all reflect that. We look forward to going back.

We went to Chef Melba's for our anniversary. Our meal was fabulous! We started with a delicious kale saiad. i had Thai Coconut Seafood dish thst wss so delicious. My husband had the delicious salmon.
We were not able to attend that evening but our new friends visiting from Mexico went in our place. They said it was the best restaurant and food they experienced on their visit.
Every bite you take explodes with flavor in your mouth. Every meal we have had here, results in wonderful memories.
