This was a late lunch/early dinner birthday meal for 5. The restaurant was quite so we got good service. It definitely has a cafe feel about with very plain furnishings. The food was good sound Glasgow curry shop favourites, well presented and plenty of.
The only down side was the swinging front door. On a very windy day it kept swinging open and the restaurant was very cold at times.
Never had a bad meal in Charcoals! The curry with meat and potatoes was delicious and my husband had biryani which was a huge plateful but also delicious. We were given a glass of pink champagne and some chicken wings as it was valentines. Such a lovely touch. We’ll be back!
Great food but terrible service more interested in sorting out takeaway orders, long wait for food served at different times.
Nice restaurant great food and service. A bit loud but all in all a great dinner.
Fantastic night as always! On the house wings when we arrived, good banter with the staff. Food top notch with good staff recommendations. On the house drinks after we paid. Thanks guys!
Food was excellent and service very good. Toilet facilities could do with an upgrade. Well situated in a busy area.
Have used this restaurant many times. The service and food is always of the highest standard. We took friends for the first time who were equally impressed.
Friday night , with my mate , excellent food , service great , very reasonable . I recommend for a casual experience and very tasty food
Charcoals is incredible. My wife and I have been 7-8 times now and it is far and away our favourite Indian in Glasgow. We absolutely love it!
I was in charcoles on mon with 6 friends the service we received was 2nd to none & meal was lovely, the staff put popadoms out on table with spiced onions & selection of dips (complimentary) the prawn cocktail was plentiful & we didn’t wait long for meal which was also plentiful we had a great experience & would definitely recommend 👍
Excellent food great deinks great service, always enjoy a meal here!
Fab food fab service great place would defo recommend this wee gem of a restaurant
Food as ever is excellent. Only dissapointment was no one seemed to be aware of our booking. A chair was thrown together to create a table and I am not sure that the deal actually came through onto the bill when it was received. Nevertheless the service was good and heartily recommend this place.
ONE OF THE BETTER CURRY PLACES IN TOWN.GOOD FOOD AND SERVICE.
Great food and service. Excellent value for money. City centre.
Have tried most of the Top Indian Restaurants oveer a long period of time. Cjarcoals Cafe is up with them.
Good Food,Good Taste, and Good Service of course great value for money. It will be one of my regular eating places provided the all of the above continue.
Very Good Food......
Food food was amazing and the staff are very friendly and welcoming love this place!
A chip off the the block that is Charcoals in Renfield Street. Charcoals Cafe is a great place with gorgeous food and really friendly staff. Cannot fault the experience. Been before and will definitely be back again.
Food was a bit average and service poor, which is surprising because the restaurant was empty.
Food is always fantastic, as good as anywhere. Excellent service, friendly, chatty staff but not overbearing. A real gem for chilled eat out.
First time visit to this one and will be back. The service and food was great and staff were very will to please recommending dishes. The decor within is good. It is good value for money.
Food was good but overpriced. Extra charge for Tikka ridiculous.
Although the restaurant was very quiet and the staff could have been disinterested in us, our waiter was fantastic and very attentive.
The food was excellent and had such a depth of flavour. I would not hesitate in going back or recommending to others.
Service and food both good. I went in Christmas Day as this was one of the few decent places open in Glasgow city centre. As a result was restricted to only their Christmas menu, which was way more than I wanted and rather more cost wise than I'd have prefered - but it was Christmas day! Quality and attentiveness made up for it to some degree, but shame to waste so much. Everything was pretty relaxed. Shame that as I was staying in a hotel couldn't even take a doggie bag! Wine was decent. Desert OK.
We had intended to book the other Charcoals restaurant at Renfield Street but were glad we didn't.
The cafe itself has quite a relaxed and casual atmosphere which was nice. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help.
Food was great- I would recommend the fish pakora (delicate and nicely spiced) and also the chicken tikka which was very flavoursome. The staff also threw in some freebies ( a charcoal baked poppadum and also a vegetable curry with paneer which was great). The charcoals tikka special was also very tasty!
For four of us (poppadums, two starters, 4 mains and 4 sides) with drinks, the bill came to under £100 so was also great value.
I simply searched online for an Indian restaurant & found Charcoals Cafe. I had never been before. I had guests from England, so I was hoping for a successful choice. It was perfect. The staff were attentive & kind, whilst the food was superb; perhaps more authentic than the mainstream. The sauces with the curries were delicate & quite a delight. FULL MARKS.
If you like spicy dishes go for the chilli nan, South Indian Garlic Chilli Chicken. The dishes we ordered had a diversity of favours. Service was good although bit slow as it was very busy.
The food was so lovely,
FIrst time ever having a chili naan and it was amazing.
The service was excellent we were very well looked after. Will definetley be back.
Went here for food before a concert at the SECC. The staff are lovely the prices very reasonable food delicious and portion sizes large ( we needed the walk to the secc to work off the food). Very nice touch a complimentary starter. Great if you don't mind the casual surroundings.
I cannot fault the fantastic food - absolutely delicious, and great portions too. The service was fantastic too. So friendly and attentive. Perfect. However the top notch staff are let down by the poor decor. When the restaurant is refurbished I will be back. If the decor is not important to you, however, then you must eat here.
Dishes slightly original . Very helpful and pleasant staff. Good value for money. Will den there again
Food was excellent, service was brilliant! Can't wait to go again!
It was the first time at charcoal and would go back again. Staff were really lovely and food was great, good value for money. Would recommend to anyone.
This is our 3rd visit and will be going again it is excellent!
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal at Charcoals..... Will definately return...... :-)
Simply, the food was very good, as well as the serrvice. We tried chicken tikka masala, salmon tikka, chana masala (think its name, not sure), and garlic naan.every plate was outstanding.
It was Friday night and time for our first dinner in Glasgow. We were hungry for Indian food and looked on-line for our options. Charcoals seemed like an unusual name until we saw that each grilled dish was served sizzling hot. Their website pictures will leave your mouth watering! We made reservations and enjoyed fine dining in a modest setting with exceptional service. While their website doesn't mention it, they offer a good selection of reasonably priced beer and wine.
