Well where do I start. Met Ali on our way in and I said Hi Ali and was greeted like a brother.
My wife and I have been going to Charcoals for a long time now and its always been great and never been disappointed. So I decided to take a few friends, we are all retired firefighters well they were so glad that I did. Ali looked after us and he was superb as usual may I say.
We choose the pre theatre menu but one of our party preferred a certain dish and it was provided as part of the pre theatre.
The food was out of this world. Its got to be up there with some of the best. Ali left before we could thank him but the rest of the staff looked after us until we left. Great visit and cant wait to go back. Please give it a try.
Fabulous meal and service from Charcoals as usual
Would highly recommend. Food was excellent, service was very quick & was a good price! The owner was nice enough to give us a free drink before leaving! Will definitely return!
Great food, friendly staff, and a great town centre location. Highly recommended!
A cafe style Indian. Pretty good service but the food was nothing to write home about. It was fine but there are many good places in Glasgow.
Lamb chops were not cooked properly and my husband chipped his tooth trying to eat them . Chicken tikka was dry and bland and the sauce I ordered was tasteless apart from only getting about four spoonfuls and got charged extra for it!
Everything was good except for being given warm wine glasses when we were drinking white wine.
Although I enjoyed my meal, our friend who cannot eat spicey food was not happy as they told here they had run out of sirloin stake , which is 1 of the 2 reasons we booked here
Brilliant service and fantastic food. Highly recommend.
Really nice. Had the lunch menu. Nice size portion. Very fresh and tasty.
Haven’t eaten here for nearly a year. I must say the food was wonderful, even better than before and I thought that to be impossible. A brilliant dining experience and I will be returning soon. Excellent!
Excellent food. Excellent service.
Was made to feel very welcome, they were attentive and extremely helpful ,my partner requires gluten free options and they were very accommodating it will definitely be our go to Indian rest
Fab food with great service. Would definitely recommend
Great food and atmosphere. Will definitely be going again
It’s our Glasgow staple, always consistent, always friendly, always outstanding value
Excellent service and delicious food. Been to Charcoals many times and it’s always been fantastic.
First time at charcoal had been recommended by friends. Thoroughly enjoyed meal- delicious fresh authentic cuisine. Staff could not have been friendlier and more accommodating! The owner is a very nice man. Will definitely be recommending to all my friends 😀
Excellent staff and food, would highly recommend a visit ....
Food was amazing, staff were friendly and helpful, would highly recommend this restaurant
The four people that we had sitting next to us were way to loud. Myself and my husband found it hard to hear ourselves talk, I was out for my birthday and ended up very poor.
I visited with my family but I was extremely disappointed when I was told that they do not have high chairs for babies. My excited 8 month old baby basically had no place to sit therefore I had to hold him which totally ruined my meal which could have been a good one as the food actually tasted quite nice. It's the first restaurant I've ever been to who dont offer this. I mean do they not want children in their restaurant?????? Extremely disappointed to say the least
Thoroughly enjoyed our meal, my 10year old son loved his first Indian meal and he is not easily pleased!
Food and service both excellent. Visited on a Saturday at 12 noon and were the only people in for quite a while until another couple arrived. Portions were adequate and to perfection. Would recommend.
Great food great staff would recommend first time we have visited but won’t bdbghe last
Food was dynamite really tasty only issue we had was a service charge for a table for two was is really uncommon for a table this size other than that highly recommend
Charcoals was up to its usual excellent standards in every way service, food and friendliness.
This is a great little indian restaurant near the bottom of Renfield Street, never varies from its high standards.
If you like a good curry this is the place,on the right hand side walking up Renfield Street.
Lovely meal, very tasty and good portion size. Staff were friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended.
Great service and very nice food. We found portions a bit larger than our regular Indian restaurant, but would definitely eat here again!
Great gem of a place, delicious food at very reasonable prices, friendly and helpful staff too.
Another excellent meal. Cannot be faulted for quality and value.
This is a small and very busy restaurant, I would recommend booking. First off the food is superb, however we weren't made aware card machine wasn't working until we went to pay the bill, thankfully had enough cash to avoid an embarrassing situation! Need that info when being seated please!
Also there is a 10% service charge to be aware of.
Tiny place with lots of character. The papadums were some of the best that I had ever had- as were the pickled vegetables that they were served with! Veggie pakora was so-so, and my fiance loved the Chicken Tikka and samosas.
Excellent food, staff very attentive overall a great wee curry house
Food was really good. The staff were very welcoming. The place itself could do with a spruce up but an enjoying experience x
The food was tasty and served in generous portions sizes.
I was disappointed in my starter. I ordered the Chana chaat, which is meant to be chick peas in yogurt and tamarind sauce with potatoes and salad. What I actually got was curried chickpeas which were extremely hot, (not in temperature). I would’ve enjoyed these with naan or chappati, but on their own as a starter.
Other than this the food was lovely and service friendly and efficient. The Pinot was impressive too and reasonably priced for a bottle.
We were a group of 5 and would definitely return.
love this place so much food is outstanding service is outstanding prices reasonable, only indian restaurant I would go to when in Glasgow city centre been coming here for 10 years now and will be coming back for the next 10 hopefully, thanks to all staff at charcoals for another wonderful meal and hope I will be seeing you all very soon
Food was lovely but maybe a bit rushed. I think some people come for lunch and they need to be quick. We were just having a “Catch up” and courses came very quickly. We felt as if the restaurant was maybe closing so we had to rush. Service was good and food was amazing. Great value too. Would highly recommend this place.
On the recommendation of my grandchildren who had visited previously, we booked a meal for four in Charcoals and were not disappointed. The food was amazing and the service first class probably justifying the cost which was slightly higher than we normally would pay. This will not put us off from visiting Charcoals in the future. When visiting Glasgow we tend to vary our dining experience between the different Indian restaurants and rate Charcoals as the best yet.
