It’s excellent authentic Italian food made from scratch: it was a great way to celebrate my birthday.
Most disappointing Drago spot I’ve been to
Surprised at the terrible service
We were celebrating my mom’s birthday. We had been there before but not my mom so she requested to go there. Everything was good with the exception of our waiter. The other servers and waiters were more helpful than our waiter. My mom has a very heavy accent and the waiter was constantly correcting her. He got my son’s food order wrong. Like I said, we were getting much better service from everyone else BUT our waiter.
We had a lovely evening and the food was great! We would return for sure.
Great service and authentic Italian pasta. Everything we ate was delicious
What a delight to experience delicious food served by a team of consummate professionals in a beautiful space!
Celestrino's is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Pasadena. The food is authentic as is the wait staff! The recipes are "home grown"--everything made fresh on the premises. The potato gnocchi with the black truffle sauce is one of the major hits.
Always enjoy Celestino's. Mario and the server team are great! Food is always excellent. The langoustine pasta was delicious. Enjoyed it very much. Always recommend Celestino Ristorante. Delicious no matter what.
Excellent food and service. Delightful restaurant. We would absolutely return again and recommend this restaurant to friends.
Celestino felt like stepping out of California and into Italy for a brief moment. Our server was very accommodating and reviewed menu items in a way that made me want to order every single one. We each ordered a glass of wine and it lasted our whole meal-which is very rare for me. *heavy pours* We will definitely make this place a go-to date night!
We felt rushed to order and finished dinner in 45 minutes!!
The appetizer and entree were very overpriced. Hardly any substance to the dishes. Very little sausage, crab or lobster in our 2 dishes. The wine and vodka were also over priced.
Overall not worth the money. When I pay $145 for 2 people, I expect an above average dining experience.
Love the food, wine and the yummy desserts. Its always a pleasure to eat at Celestinos.
We’ve been coming to the restaurant for years. The service was so poor and they charged our credit card twice for the same meal. I won’t be going back again. To bad, it was a restaurant you could always count on.
Super slow service. We made a reservation and we got seated right away. The hostess, however, forgot to provide menus. We waited 5 minutes for a high chair, another 15 minutes to be greeted by our server and order drinks, another 10+ minutes to get a menu, another 20 minutes to finally place our order. After we finished our meal, dishes were gone and our server seemed to have forgotten about us. We waited a long time for him to come back to our table and offer coffee or dessert menu, we asked for the check instead. Again, that took forever. We are definitely not coming back to this place.
Father’s Day celebration, just perfect
Celestino is an established Italian Restaurant in Pasadena. However, after my dining experience, I feel that before I return, an overall revision is necessary to improve :service, quality of food, an almost non existent wine list, a cocktail menu, and a working , and cleaner restroom facilities.
The service especially was poor and the waiter attributed to a shortage of employees when I called to his attention the lack of commitment to customer needs. An acceptable excuse for an establishment to make.
I ordered a pasta dish that was a bit overcooked, no spoon was provided, and I requested fresh cheese 3 times before it was delivered.
Overall, a regrettable dining visit.
We made a reservation through Open Table. We arrived on time but had to wait 1/2 hour for a table. They sat us in an ante room that had the ambiance of a storage room (stacks of wine boxes stored in there). Last time we came they sat us in a hallway next to the kitchen. Once seated we did not see the waiter for a very long time. He only came by a few times afterwards - once for a drink order, about another 1/2 hour went by until he came back for our food order (which I had to get up and ask for him to come by), when the food arrived and another when he brought the check. He never asked if we wanted bread for the table, salt or pepper, dessert, coffee, etc. Also, he brought the wrong dish to my husband which he did not order but ate any way because of the delays. We used to love coming here, but not anymore. such a bummer....
Delicious food, lovely environment, I'll definitely be back!
This was amazing , food, service, ambiance and prices. All within range . Service was above and beyond, real team effort. Food was delicious we had calamari, burratA, Ossining bucolic, tagliatelle and tiramisu. All amazing!!! Highly recommend !!!!
Fantastic menu and service. Wine list is decent but not deep enough. But I would go back. Especially with visitors or out of town guests.
We enjoyed our table on the front porch. Other than that, nothing was exceptionally good or bad. Was doing a brisk business on a Sat. night.
Order the whole fish
This is the best Italian restaurant in Pasadena. Lots of pasta options including specials. If you prefer a main course, then they'll often have a special fish of the day or a meat option. When truffles are available and in season they'll have a wonderful, simple pasta dish. Extensive wine list with lots of good Italian options at all price ranges.
Quiet late dinner on a Tuesday night with excellent food and service.
Best baby artichoke and arugula salad I've ever had. They accommodated a service dog and we had a lovely and exquisite lunch with a seasoned Italian waiter. Just great!
Excellent Italian food with lots of vegetarian choices.
Comfortable seating and nice atmosphere.
Service was excellent with prompt and continuous attention.
Celestino is the perfect restaurant. The staff is warm, welcoming and polite. Providing understated yet perfectly calibrated service. The food is always delicious. The Minestrone Soup is the perfect balance of subtle broth and precisely chopped vegetables; the best I've ever had even in Italy. The pastas are always cooked exactly as they should be, and the fish beautifully prepared. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful and very comfortable.
Celestino is the beat Italian restaurant in Southern California. The pasta is always perfect and the truffle special is perfect with the filet of sole. Their tiramisu is a must after filling your stomach with the best chopped salad with grilled shrimp then the main course. You will love the owner’s hospitality and the great service all around. We love Celestino.
You feel like you are in someone's home when you are dining at Celestrinos. The service is warm and friendly, and the pastas are all homemade and fresh! Mine was the best on the table--gnocchi with a black truffle sauce! Certainly, we will be back. One criticism--why are they serving Badoit bottled water (French) in an Italian restaurant. We wanted Pellegrino!
There is no better place to come in Pasadena for the welcome and the cuisine. You are treated like Kings, and family. I love this place.
We arrived early for our 5:45pm Saturday reservation, restaurant was not busy. By the time we departed, it was hopping. Although tables are close together, acoustics are good and we were able to enjoy our conversation. Our server, Antonio, was especially friendly and greeted us promptly. There is no wine by the glass menu, just pic the varietal you desire. The chardonnay was very good and the Italian red was exceptional for the price. Bar had limited, but good, single malt scotch option. We asked Antonio if the Florentine T-Bone Steak could be served with spinach, and he agreed to accommodate. The Osso Bucco came with risotto. We chose those entrees, and opted to start with salad first, then a shared pasta course. Our salad starter was delicious, nicely dressed with tasty in house dressing. Our second course, duck ravioli with blueberry mushroom sauce was okay. We didn't really taste the duck, mushroom sauce was deliciously creamy but scant few blueberries were garnish. When entrees were served, they brought filet mignon instead of the Florentine T-bone steak. The waiter apologized, said he keyed in the wrong item. He wanted us to share the Osso and then share the steak - but we really were not interested in that option. So 15 minutes later, the Osso returned with the Florentine Steak that was plated with carrots and broccoli, not the agreed upon spinach. By the time the waiter arrived to check on us, we remind him of the spinach and he apologized. He offer to take the plate back, but my guest was already eating and didn't want to wait further for the waiter to once again correct the error. Plus, the Osso Bucco and risotto were already lukewarm from waiting for the T-Bone to arrive. The Osso Bucco was very good, just should be served with a small fork to easily extract the savored marrow in the bone. The Florentine T-Bone was nicely cooked a rare medium rare. Ricotta Cheesecake was bland and dry. No offer to comp due to the steak error.
Good very nice
Always a class act, great food, and nice people in a perfect atmosphere
Old school Italian! Very good service with just a touch of Euro haughtiness, delicious crusty bread and butter served immediately (yum), the cacio e pepe and prima vera with artichoke sauce were super tasty, generous portions. $15 corkage fee which is a bit high, but I get it. I'll go back!
A great go-to place with excellent staff and reasonable prices for outstanding food!
Never disappointing. Always have the cold seafood salad. Amazing blend of flavors with the lemon dressing. Guest had the fresh halibut with capers in light tomato sauce, a culinary delight .
It’s a sensible place, classic. It has a neighborhood feel, and I always see a familiar face there. I have been going there since it opened. It’s a real Italian restaurant. My grapa after dinner was very smooth.
Excellent food and service, good Sicilian wine recommended by our waiter. We would gladly come back on our next Pasadena visit.
