Carmine's - 91st Street - NYC
Carmine's is a family style restaurant offering exceptional value to its guests through the many dishes of Southern Italian cuisine. Mushroom caps with sweet Italian sausage and sweet and hot pepper filling
Amazing Italian food. Best for groups of 4 or more as the portions are sized for sharing between 3-5 people.
Very large portions. We had to get up to get the waiter a few times because it was busy and they were slow, but overall it was a great experience and we’ll be back!
We had the greatest waiter his name was Omar. The food was great as usual an the drinks put me in a great mood. See you soon. Didn’t get the hostess name she had on a long sleeve black dress super sweet
service is always great!
Food is always OK, very large amounts.
Tony I waiter was great took long to be seated but other than that service and food was great 😁
They are adding mandatory 20% tip and felt like I was at a sketchy car dealership. Trying to be up sold every 5 minutes. Put a damper on the experience
Amazing customer service .. my parents enjoyed their birthday dinner!!! Highly recommend!!!
Amazing! Waiter was great, very friendly and attentive. Food was delicious! Not one thing my friends and i ordered was bad, everything was perfect.
I enjoyed it the food was good & the plates were huge . Also the drinks .. AMAZING
Great food and excellent service. Enjoy everything and will definitely go back soon
This wasn’t my first time dining at Carmines. Despite the circumstances due to the pandemic everything went well. The staff were very polite & helpful even with the kids. Food was great as always. Even the price was great. We enjoyed ourselves & I had a great birthday dinner. Thank you to everyone at carmines for the outstanding customer service, truly appreciate your hard work.
Carmine's has once again proven why it's my favorite restaurant. The atmosphere, service, food, and overall experience were the absolute best. The prices were fair, and Carmine's has once again lived up to my personal motto which is "you get what you pay for." Carmine's is worth every cent, and I can't wait until I visit them again.
Omar’s service and attentiveness are awesome, pleasant to have dealt with. The food portions and flavors are soooooo good.
Omar was an AMAZING waiter
They are doing a great job at outdoor dining during a pandemic!
Just not good service.
Didnt even get to taste the food to be honest, so I gave it a fair rating there, otherwise the place is not worth your time. Showed up, waited 1/2 hour after our reservation time to be seated, that was no problem though since we understand with the pandemic seating is limited. While my wife and I waited we noticed a couple at a table that seemed upset because they had not been served (that should have been a red flag). After being seated, we waited 15 minutes to be given a menu and when we approached the waiter for one, he asked us if we were asking for our check...But we’d just sat down. I think I’d understand how he might have thought that if it was busy, but there were only 5-6 tables dining. Got our menus after asking for them, but after getting them the waiter didn’t interact with us anymore. We waited 15 more minutes for someone to at least ask us if we wanted water, bread, anything to make my wife and I feel as if we were welcome, but nothing. Totally ignored. So we left, no one even noticed and I guess we didn’t expect anyone to. This review is about the service, the food I honestly have no idea about as I did not want to wait however long they were going to make us wait just to order. One thing I did notice on my way out, that couple I mentioned earlier had nothing on their table other than angry faces and two cups of soda after an hour of sitting (yikes!). I suppose we at least know better now, hopefully others have a better experience if they give this place a chance, we don’t see ourselves returning.
Nice time and very sanitary! Definitely will be back again.
So I was seriously looking forward to this lunch date me and my girlfriend where going to have. I even set up reservations for two, four days before just to make sure we had a table. The first thing that annoyed me was the waiter who said his name was Omar very sarcastically explained to me the difference between the lunch menu and the dinner menu. He even physically separated the two pieces of paper on the table just to make sure I understood they where no the same. I looked at my girlfriend like "why is he talking to me like i never been in a restaurant before ". I ordered a Caesar salad and the lettuce was old and not fresh what so ever. Also they use very small cups to serve drinks such as water and even wine i don't know why they wouldn't serve wine in a wine glass but thats beyond me. Then we ordered a penne alla vodka with chicken since the serving sizes are family style we shared it. The pasta was not cooked as i was eating it i had to spit out hard pieces of pasta. Shortly after starting to eat the pasta my girlfriend started to feel sick as well and we decided we where done with Carmines. How can a italian restaurant not property serve or cook pasta thats the basic thing all italian restaurants can do. To top it all off they make you package up your own to go container now I don't know if our waiter was just prejudice and decided to just make us do it our selves Or if this is just their protocol but if you really think about it why would I set up reservations and then pay $14.99 for old Caesar salad then pay almost $20 for a penne alla vodka just to wrap up my own to go container. I don't know I always thought Carmines was a well respected italian restaurant that was a big deal to eat at but i guess this pandemic has made them lazy and rude.
Excellent food, service from our waiter Omar, and overall experience. Very generous portions of delicious classic Italian American cuisine. Our first dining experience since the start of the pandemic, and we couldn't be happier.
Carmine’s is for ambiance and name, not for great food. The dishes were over salted. The sauces were not created with the “homemade” or top chefs taste. Chicken parm was sent back due to rubbery gristle-like texture. Manager gave us a new dish to bring home which was nice. Service was attentive and friendly, so kudos to the staff. But I honestly have gotten much better food for less downtown. With all the spots to choose from in nyc this is not one I will frequent.
My taste buds were very pleased :) Loved the family style eating and round tables. Servers were great. Party of six and they serve you. Will come back again. In these times, it was a great reminder to continue doing the things you love. Enjoy moments. Live, Eat, drink and be Happy!
Typical Carmine’s evening. Copious good food. Friendly service. Great value.
Waiter. Very nice and informative. Food was excellent
the food and service was very good. We celebrated my son's 18th Birthday
Carmine s as usual : food is good , service kind and attentive, table’s size and distance from the others were generous for NYC standards
The food was amazing and the servers make you feel welcomed and always looking to see if you are doing fine .
The staff at Carmines was extremely kind and helpful. The food was outstanding. The service was excellent and the ambiance was a perfect NYC experience. I would go back again and again. One of the most wonderful restaurants in NYC! Thank you Carmine's for taking such great care of my guests and giving them one the most memorable dinners of their lives!
Paul, the Manager was awesome. He made sure everything was great. The waiter and the rest of the wait staff were perfect! The food was delicious, especially the salad of the day. Thank you to all!
Meeting an old friend
Birthday celebration for two cousins.🥳🥳
Our service was great and the food was amazing. The only what bothered me and took me by surprise is when we ordered extra penne a la vodka sauce and was told it was ya about $20. The waiter continued to tell us we are better off ordered another tray of penne la vodka. This was all after our dishes were on table. I don’t know if what he was telling us was true. We were there for my daughter’s bachelorette party
Food was great & the staff was great. two thumbs up!
Great service !
We had reservations for 13 but only 11 came. I told them this twice and they set the table for 10 people. So I told them again we have 11. Then they squeezed another chair in. The food was good. I told them it was my mother-in-law’s birthday so that they could come and sing to her. They never did that but they sang for several other guests. The noise level was extremely high and it made it difficult to talk to anyone even the person sitting next to you. I’m not sure if I will be going back.
Carmine’s has declined quite a bit in quality over the years.
The food is always great, but the prices for some of the specials seemed a bit disproportionate. We had a chicken special on a Friday that did not live up to the description we were provided. However, the staple items on the menu are reasonably priced and are always quality. The waiter we had was a bit aggressive in a friendly way, but we would have enjoyed a bit fewer interactions/interruptions from our waiter.
Old school Italian comfort food in huge portions. Love it. Good drinks, too.
The food was delicious, as always, we had the shrimp scampi with penne, stuffed mushrooms, and wings. Amanda was great and so was the gentleman who brought out the food. So pleasant and helpful.
I had a great time food was awesome as usual. Perfect for family and friend
Awesome food and service. Parking is an issue but the food and atmosphere great
