Carmine's - 44th Street - NYC
As usual, excellent service and amazing food. Caesar Salad is super crisp and fresh. Cheesy garlic bread is delicious. Chicken Parm is a classic. First time trying the Manicotti and it did not disappoint. Gooey chocolatey Bread Pudding ala mode for dessert. Carmine’s just does it right every time.
Turismo. Muy buena comida y platos giganteS
First trip to New York City and Carmine’s had been recommended by friends and we happened to be staying in a nearby hotel. We had made a reservation so the wait was just a few minutes. Staff was very friendly. Had stuffed mushrooms for appetizer and manicotti as the main dish. Delicious. And even though it was busy, we were not rushed to finish and leave. Definitely a place we’d visit again.
Spectacular seafood special!
Heerlijk druk restaurant. Reserveren een must. Gezellige schalen voor de hele familie of groep! Wij hadden pasta a la wodka en een schaal heerlijke kippenpoten erbij. Ook de tiramisu was goed en vooral veel!
We were a few minutes late for our reservation due to subway delays and I called ahead and let the restaurant know as we waited on the platform. I let them know 15 mins in advance of our reservation time. When we arrived we checked in with the doorman who directed us to wait in the Take-Out area and we’d be called when our table was ready. I was with my boyfriend from out of town who I know already isn’t a fan of waiting. I understood that we were late and maybe we’d have to wait 10mins. But 10 minutes turned into 45 minutes and I had deliberately padded the time by and hour and a half so we didn’t feel rushed. Many people who arrived after us were seated in a more timely manner. I had to go up to the hostess desk twice and ask about how much longer it would be. The first time they told me not much longer and then we waiting another 20 before I went up again and let them know if they didn’t seat us we’d have to go to another place as we were making a 8pm Broadway show and it was already 7:20. The saving grace was they jumped and seated us immediately - although a bit weird that there were a handful of empty tables in the back. Do they only act on your reservation if you put up a fuss? Our server was great and was able to get us our food very quickly and we were out the door with 10 minutes to spare.
Great meal! Lots of fun. Wish they had portions for 2 vs 4, regardless we brought home leftovers!
Seating process absolutely horrible. Set horrible tone for the evening. Service slow. Way too noisy
They were slammed. Our reservation was at 5:30p, but we didn’t get seated until 6:00p. Didn’t mind the wait. Food and service were excellent as always. I’m always so impressed.
As always, food & service were terrific. Served family style, plenty for everyone.
Very busy restaurant so make sure you have a reservation.
I live in Brooklyn with my boyfriend, and we had my family visiting from Massachusetts for the weekend. My family (big foodies) trusted me to make all of the restaurant decisions for the weekend! I found Carmine's through a "gluten free" search, as my younger brother is intolerant. I saw that Carmine's was family style, authentic Italian, AND offers GF pasta -- why not not try it before our harbor cruise?
We were blown away by the phenomenal service, loving atmosphere, and delicious food. I would recommend Carmine's 100x over to anyone visiting the city. It is in the heart of Times Square, what looks like a hole in the wall opens up to a huge (for NYC) space. The servers went above and beyond with recommendations, allergy accommodations, and kindness.
We will absolutely be back! Thank you Carmine's staff and crew!
The pasta with meatballs was the best I have ever had. The portion sizes were a bit large and that was unexpected as there were only two of us. If you are traveling it is best to consider that because you have to have a place to store leftovers. Otherwise it’s great and I will return again, this time with more people.
Made a reservation and they took us pretty quick. Great food and service. Would recommend to all for a wonderful family style meal and experience.
We normally visit NYC about once a year.Carmines has become our favorite dinner spot either before or after a show. The prices may seem high, but the food is served family style and portions can serve 4-5 people easily so it’s actually quite affordable. Even though it’s very crowded, service is excellent and food is awesome. My daughter has Celiac disease and they do a great job with her! Since the food is family style, we all get some gluten free pasta and I can vouch It’s delicious.Be sure and make reservations, especially on weekends - they get very busy!
Very good experience, our server was awesome and attentive. The food was great and for our party of 10 the family style was perfect!! The only dish I didn’t like was the linguine with white clam sauce. The dish was lacking flavor all around and the clams didn’t appear fresh more like canned. Please improve this dish!! One of my favorite dishes so I was sad. But everything else we ordered was on point. Thank you, we will be back.
Just wonderful. There were 5 of us & we were starving. Started with a Carmine’s Salad. Fresh, cold, & delicious. For entree’s we shared cheese ravioli with Vodka sauce and angel hair pasta with bolognese. Both were great, but the ravioli was the favorite. Ordered chocolate cannoli and strawberry shortcake for desert. Shortcake was tasty but no one cared for the lemon flavor in the cannoli. Will return as often as were able!
We absolutely LOVED Carmine's !!!!!!! Everything about it was amazing ! Thank you so much for contributing to a wonderful "Girls" weekend in the "City". We will definitely come back and recommend to everyone.
Absolutely Loved The Family Style Menu !! Food Was AMAZING !
Carmines is a very business restaurant and I understand why.
The food is delicious and plentiful. The service is generally quick and efficient.
Outstanding place if you are in a party mood. Not your quite romantic restaurant. Lively and fun. Exceptional wait staff. Explained everything very clearly.
The food was great and our waitress Nicole was outstanding. The only issue is that we had a 6:00 reservation and we’re not seated until 7:00. This was unacceptable considering I booked the reservation 1 month in advance. Once we were finally seated, everything was great.
Awesome food and waitress was excellent...service was great. We had an awesome experience.
The family style meals might not be best for only 2 people. Would be much better for larger groups so everyone can try different things. We agreed on Ravioli with a Ragu sauce, a salad and strawberry shortcake. Food and service were terrific. The prices were a bit high...each item was almost $30 each.
Excellent service from a clearly on-point waiting team.
Never waited long for our meal which, considering the enormous portions, is very impressive.
Our waiter was super friendly and helpful.
The food was unbelievably good! The most tender meatballs we’ve ever eaten. Delicious and worth the money.
DO NOT come here unless you’re in a group. The food is served for sharing and even in our group of 2, the portions were large.
Besides this it’s a perfect family place to eat some spectacular food.
Great service, huge food portions, shrimp scampi was good, but the angel hair pasta was blah in flavor, not enough sauce, and the shrimp were a little over cooked. The Lasagna was good, but not the best I have had, huge piece could feed 4 people easy. I would probably not order the same next time, as the menu has lot of choices. Great NY atmosphere, but the for the price, I expected better tasting food.
Perfect evening, we will come back!
Service , especially food was excellent...
I visited my son for parents weekend and he wanted to come to Carmine’s. Nothing was bad about it per se but my son eats meat and I don’t. This is not a good place to dine if you have a small party with different dietary needs. Everything is served family style, which while fun, did not allow us to both get what we wanted. We ended up getting linguini with vodka sauce and a side of meatballs. He was okay with this but I think he would have preferred having them mixed in but then I wouldn’t have been able to eat the meal. The meatballs were $22.95 on the side!!! If I were to get another dish, it would have been a huge platter. So we made do with this but I wasn’t too happy. I ate some of the pasta and he had a lot to bring home.
Always a favorite for me. Love Carmines. Just remember that one meals feeds 3-4.
We had a great family experience at Carmine's - our server was exceptional and the restaurant has all kinds of character. Would highly recommend as part of a trip to NYC. Great food, huge portions and excellent value. We will be back on our next trip. We booked a mid afternoon reservation which helped avoid the huge evening crowds. Thank you!
Fantastic food! very big portions so very reasonably priced as you can split each entree with 3-4 people. Everything served family style. We got the Chicken Parmesan and ordered a side of angel hair pasta. I can't wait to return and try the other entrees! Great fun atmosphere. Very happy environment for this family oriented business! I made my reservations on a week in advance for a Thursday in October and all I could get was 9 pm - so plan early to get a reservation.
Great family gathering with great food, service and atmosphere!! Will definitely be back again!!
Felt like a factory that just wanted your dollar. Horrible experience slightly made better by a nice waitress. Food was average at best.
Therer was a great line and it was extremely crowded
Waiter was kinda rude. Place was great though.
A Great place for a family with kids in NYC. Had a family of 12 with 4 kids and had a great experience. Would recommend to anyone.
Great location with a big crowd. We frequent Carmine's before heading to the theater. Everything is consistently great!
Great, as always! Both, food and service, were outstanding.
We were shown to our table 30 min late so felt rushed before a 7pm show, but they really crank it out. Salad and calamari arrived literally within 5 min of ordering so we were eating before getting drinks. Food is a great value and boisterous room is good with a group.
There is a lot, and I mean a LOT of food!
It’s family style dishes, which translates to huge! You’ll need at least 4 people to finish plates, or you are going to have leftovers for a week if you go by yourself.
The food is good, but not great Italian food.
However, it’s fantastic value if there is group of you
