Capt Bill’s is my *go-to* restaurant especially when entertaining out of towners.....this time for a business dinner. I feel that the restaurant is representative of Long Island. The food and service this time were just ok. I also feel that the decor could use refurbishment. The interior has looked the same for a very long time and could do with a more modern feel. Our guests were more than satisfied, so our needs were met. With such a large assortment of restaurants, I’m not sure that I would rush to return.
I have been to Captain Bills before and wverything was perfect. There was a party going on and it was just an off night. I asked for my lobster broiled and it was steamed, I ate it but it was not as good as the broiled, they ran out of the mussel appetizer that was a special so that was disappointing.
This will not preclude me from going again or recommending it because it was not the norm and has always been excellent in prior visits.
My husband and I wanted to have a quiet lobster dinner for my birthday so we visited Captain Bill's. There are few local places that have larger lobsters for dinner and Captain Bill's has 2 and 3 pounders. We had the mussel special as an appetizer and they were tender and in a delicious, slightly creamy broth. We both ordered a 2 pound lobsters which were steamed perfectly. They were tender and juicy. A nice slice of cheesecake that we shared was a delicious ending to the night. Our server was very friendly and helpful.
very good value but would have liked fresh crab cakes as thats one of the signature dishes! the ones there were very soggy and overly breaded. the service was great, as were the unlimited mimosas, etc. good selection of foods.
the bathrooms could use some better cleaning (the toilets)!
great place for a shower/luncheon/party as you cant beat the price, really!
Outstanding food from the appetizers and raw bar selections through all the main dishes to the desserts and after-dinner drinks. Perfect, relaxed, knowledgeable service and perfect view of South Bay from our table.
The food was great and the service was excellent
Good all around
I'm not sure if it was because it was restaurant week but the food was definitely not wonderful.
Always an awesome time! Food is impeccable as well as service. We had our wedding reception there 6 yea ago and this is our yearly tradition. And they were so kind to have comp’d one of our brunch meals since it was our anniversary.
Food was delicious. Service was great. Will definitely return.
Although a big restaurant loved that we could hear each other on a packed saturday restaurant week night. Very attentive friendly waitress-Lauren. Fried calamari light and crispy, grouper yummy. Swordfish dissapointing and overcooked..should have sent it back. Nice wine selection, reasonable meritage 36$ bottle. I will go back. No need to valet...
fabulous table looking out over water. not on top of other patrons. oysters were fantastic, shrimp stuffed with crabmeat delicious. could ask for better service. bathrooms very clean just a great time in a beautiful place. date night or special occation will not disappoint
Captin Bills hosed a wonderful Restaurant Week! The food was great. Everything was hot, cooked perfectly. The staff was accommodating. They even took us early for our reservation. It was packed but the restaurant functioned with grace. The views are gorgeous even at night!
We were a party of 9. Everyone ordered something different from the restaurant week menu. The meals, including appetizers and desserts were excellent. Service was also very good. Everyone was satisfied with their meal. I had mussels appetizer, salmon for main entree, and pound cake with vanilla ice cream for dessert. A great value because it also included coffee or tea. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Restaurant is nice and worth visiting but not during restaurant week. Extremely busy when we visited at 6 pm and it affected food and service negatively. While choices were good, the sauce for both different entrees was TOO salty and ruined the meal.
We dine here often. Always a good experience with the exception of their Sunday brunch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Captain Bills. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding.
I really really like Capt Bills & have been to the restaurant many times over many years. Chose to dine on a recent Sunday, the beginning of Restaurant Week. Reservations were readily available on Open Table, even mid afternoon of the same day. Whoever booked the seatings did a disservice to the waitstaff. Every seat was full, including 2 large groups of 14 or 16 people. The staff were overwhelmed & seemed to be constantly running to keep up. Did not create a good ambiance. Even veteran server Mary Rose was a bit flustered....simply too many people booked all at the same time. She maintained her composure and the food was wonderful as usual, but we were not as satisfied as we usually are at Capt Bills. Of course I will return, as this is my *Go-To* restaurant.
Food was Amazing and our waitress Shantel was very sweet and very professional ! Great Food Great Service!
I have been here many times and always enjoy it. The food is always done to perfection. This was my first time during Restaurant Week and the prefix menu had enough choices to satisfy all. We had a new server and she was excellent!
We went for lunch. The clam chowder was delicious. Loaded with clams! The prime rib sandwich was large and tasty. I enjoyed my scallop entree. They were cooked to perfection! We also ordered stuffed shrimp which was stuffed with a flavorful crabmeat stuffing. We will definitely be returning. Hopefully for the brunch!
The food was delicious. Service was great
We went there for the first time and I'm so glad I chose it. The restaurant had a very warm feel to it. Very nice atmosphere. The waitress was nice and attentive. The food was excellent. It was very fresh and tasty.
Excellent brunch. Excellent service.
Always a reliable “go to” place with great food and a beautiful setting.
Great waitress and staff; friendly, helpful, and accomodating. Food was very good. Portions were appropriate. I would definitely go back.
Food was good . Chantel our server was terrific. Atmosphere is great
Good seafood as always. service was good and noise level low on a Tuesday night.
It’s always a treat! Service, food ,
and ambience alway good!
They helped me surprise my girlfriend with an engagement ring. Everything went off withoutca hitch. She said yes
Son’s Birthday. The Entire Experience was wonderful.
We went there for our Anniversary. The good was great and lots of it. We would recommend this restaurant. We will be back again. They have happy ours Monday to Its from 4 to 7.
We like Captain Bill's. On Saturday we were celebrating our son's birthday. When I made the reservation on OpenTable I requested a candle on his dessert. They did NOT do the candle. Disappointed!!!!
I would never go on a Saturday as it was too noisy and we had requested a window table but when we got there, there was a 45 minute wait for a window table this is unacceptable to us.
The food is always very good, however, the last two times we have been to Captain Bills to eat in the dining room, the servers were not that good and seem to cut corners. Our many times at the bar for food has always been the best.
Captain Bill's is consistently good. The wait staff is professional, the food is fresh, and delicious, and the atmosphere is cheery.
Wonderful Sunday Brunch! Great value and choices for everyone. Wonderful water view.
Great seafood and several alternatives on specials menu very fresh
Never disappoints. Love to look out on the water. Good menu selections. Reasonably priced.
The restaurant also had a large party going on, and so I think their kitchen was a bit backed up. It was a leisurely dining experience.
