My sister and I had 1:15 reservations for brunch. We got there at 1:00 and knew we were early, so we checked in and then sat at the bar. Tables emptied and the staff reset them and they remained empty. It was after 1:30 when we asked if our table was ready and then were quickly shuffled to an uncomfortable corner table. We asked for 1 of the several booths open and were told it was for a party that made reservations. Ummm...we had made reservations, remember?

Long story short, we were seated in the booth and then waited another 10 minutes without acknowledgement before walking out. They weren't at all busy.

The bartender was awesome, so there was that. But I suppose I understand now why they were so empty compared to my (very happy) prior visits.

We used to attend Capitol Cider regularly and greatly enjoyed the menu. This visit, is another ima recent string of lack-luster experiences here. I’m sad to say that something has clearly changed in the way food is prepared as all of our food was not what we have come to expect.
Before this experience the service had been spotty, but had noticed a change on our last visit, but the service could not over come the menu changes and clearly different cooking. Sad to say it is unlikely my wife and I will not be returning.

We had a wonderful time at Capitol Cider! The food was amazing! We ate off of the small plates menu and had a blast. The chicken wings were to die for, the olives were tasty, as were the cheese curds and the goat cheese dip! All while being safe (gluten free) to everybody (you honestly don’t really notice the food is done so well)! A fantastic drinks menu. If we weren’t from out of town we’d be back ASAP!

It is great with a kitchen that is entirely gluten free, so there is no question of that to worry about, and there is nothing that screams ”special meal” about the place - the ambiance is pretty cool. The selection of drinks was huge, and the ciders in particular were what was interesting. We took different so called ”flights” (selections of three small glasses) which was a great way to experience different ciders. It looked like the kitchen had a reasonable handle on (greasy) comfort food, but the other selections (I had a completely tasteless vegetable risotto) were dull, especially the vegetarian options. Food came in way too quick. Appetizer was immediate while the drinks took a good while. Then the main courses arrived when we were maybe 1/3 into the appetizer. I was practically called an idiot by the person checking IDs for the downstairs section when I went to the restroom because I didn’t have my passport on me. I’m 53 years old, so I don’t generally expect to be carded anymore....

I wasn’t expecting the poached eggs to come in a bowl with water, which made them taste watered down when eaten because the yolk and water mixed. Beyond that the home fries and other parts of the dish were fantastic for brunch!

The fish and chips and cider pairings were amazing. Even if you don’t eat gluten free Capitol Cider is worth the trip. Some of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive.

We adore Capitol Cider. My husband is gluten free, and it's such a luxury for him to choose anything off the menu. We've tried several appetizers and entrees and always love our food (get the brussels sprouts!). We also love all the cider flight options - makes for a fun tasting experience.

Have been going to Capital Cider for a while. Service has dropped significantly and is not consistent. Long wait times on service, food, refills, and items ordered. I will no longer consider Capital Cider as a place to dine...one too many poor dinners.

I asked the server er for a cider choice for someone who doesn't like cider. He made a recommendation that was very good, and his description was spot on. Food was very good - much better than the appearance of the place suggests

So nice to have a place that serves an entirely gluten free menu that isn’t all paleo and trendy-diet oriented. Celiacs want to eat a broad variety of foods and this menu offers it — especially things like fried Brussels sprouts that are so broadly available but are seldom gluten-free. Service was pleasant, didn’t feel rushed.

as an all gluten free option they rock. The menu was not as good as last time we were there. I don't eat beef or game and 80% of the main courses were one of those.

The cider/drinks list was extensive but our waiter was not much good at recommendations, didn't really have many opinions, and didn't know the answers to most of our questions.

We happen to visit twice while visiting and both of our experiences were the same. Nice host, unfriendly waiter and delicious food. Besides the unfriendly wait staff this is a tasty restaurant (and 100% gluten free... although, you wouldn't know it) with an extensive cider menu. Just wish we could have learned a little about the cider from our waiters.

We had just enjoy Wicked at The Paramount and were looking for something new and gluten free. We have been GF for a long time so we are very able cooks and bakers and are often disappointed by GF restaurants. That was not the case with Capitol Cider. The food was delicious!

My reservation was around 10:30pm, it felt unessecary to make a reservation since the place didn't seem full at all. We were told to go downstairs (why?) to be served.

I had ordered the prawns and pasta. My plate was lukewarm, and the prawns themselves must have been old. A very fishy aroma came off them while exhaling on the food when I was putting it in my mouth. Fresh seafood is not supposed to be fishy. I almost gagged on my last few bites of food but still ate it against my better judgement.

Thankfully I didn't get sick. Unfortunately this is the worst resturaunt experience I've ever had as far as the food quality goes.

The place has a cool vibe and a the most robust offering of ciders I’ve ever seen. The menu included a glossary which proved to be quite helpful when making a cider selection that will suit your palate. Waiter was extremely knowledgeable about their offerings.

As a person with dietary restrictions, it is rare to find a restaurant that places so much care in its menu and food preparations. Not only is the kitchen a safe environment for those with allergies and intolerances, but the incredibly knowledgeable staff and magnificent cuisine are top of the line. The fried Brussels Sprouts, Burger, and Rhubarb Cider were phenomenal. I would highly recommend this to anyone, regardless of having gluten/peanut allergies or not. Thank you, Capitol Cider - we'll be back!

This was a wonderful find. We were visiting from Portland and needed a central place to meet friends for brunch. The ambiance was fantastic. Our server was friendly and helpful. We didn't need gluten free- but it was nice that the whole menu was in case that's useful to your party. The food was mostly quite good- though the $8 cinnamon roll was hard like a brick and what people think of when they think of gluten free baking. Too bad, because GF baking can be delicious. Overall we'd recommend this place and would love to go back when the game room is open in the downstairs bar.

This is hard...we’ve been going to Capital Cider since it opened, usually for brunch or lunch. My daughter and I always get the fried chicken sandwich and my husband usually gets the burger- and we love it! Sadly every time we’ve taken guests the food has been just okay for dinner. Then we went for brunch on Mother’s Day and ordered our usual. The bun was stale, inedible and the fried chicken was thin and dry. If this had been our first time at the restaurant we wouldn’t have returned. I rarely write reviews but I hope this helps get Capital Cider back on track. 🤞
