The night we went the waiter service was lackluster. We had two waiters waiting on us, and neither of them seemed to want to be there. Food came out-small portions. Tasted great but had to fill myself up with lots of bread. The real treat is the desert area that is adjacent to the restaurant. Skip buying dessert at your table and go pick your own from their endless supply of goodies.
It was terrible host was terrible. High top table for 90 year olds
We dined early to celebrate my mother’s birthday. We were seated right away and the restaurant was pretty much empty since it was early. However, right after we sat down, another family walked in and were seated at the table next to us (VERY close) and we felt stuffy after that. Not sure why when the restaurant was empty did we need to be shoved together. Regardless, the food was excellent as usual and we enjoyed the ambiance. We weren’t offered any dessert and I did note it was a birthday celebration when I made the reservation so that was little disappointing that it wasn’t even acknowledged. We live local so we will definitely return.
Very disappointing visit. I used to be a fairly regular diner in the bar area but have not been for awhile. They used to have a fabulous weekday happy hour featuring half price drinks and half price entire bar menu. I enjoyed it so much I would stay way past happy hour paying full price for drinks and food and on Fridays enjoyed the entertainment. Now the happy hour menu is only a partial menu, they changed the quality of the food and they only do half price for wine and beer. I couldn’t wait to finish up and leave. Too bad. Looked like there was a good band playing....
Calandras is our go to place. On average we have dinner at Calandras about once a week.
Great food great service love everything thank you
If you’re anywhere near this restaurant and like Italian food, this is a must for dinner. Even better - unlike many restaurants in NJ, they have a full bar. Caesar salad was great. Pastas were perfect. Make sure you visit the bakery that is attached to the restaurant. We’ll be back the next time we visit NJ.
The food was excellent. The service was top notch. The place was quiet and clean. A great place to celebrate 35 years of marriage. I recommend this spot to everyone.
Lovely room, food was great, nice & helpful server
The food as usual was delicious!!
We loved the food. Everything was perfectly cooked and the flavors were balance. I am planning to make dinning there a regular experience.
Appetizers were excellent!
Fish entrees were little overcooked especially the shrimp.
Excellent meal. Authentic Italian. Order the "Antipasta." Best mozzarella my wife had since we visited "Battapaglia"
Gem in Italian cuisine!
My family and I had a wonderful time. We elected to sit outside which was the best thing we did. The ambiance was perfect. It felt like we were in Italy. The lounge singer was great. I was disappointed I had to leave early. The food portions were large. I ordered the bronzini which I wouldn't order again. The fish was tasty, but it was boring. It was a piece of fish with spinach underneath. Everyone really enjoyed their dishes and was commenting that we need to come back.
From the time we walked it and was greeted by the hostess, shown to our seats - it was a very good experience from beginning to end.
To top it off, dessert was in the next room, where we could take it home to enjoy!
All in all, it was a delicious meal and the service was Impeccable!! (Joe was our waiter, very handsome, nice, and eager to service us.)
Came here for anniversary dinner with the hubs. Enjoyed dinner on the veranda. Kind of felt like we were in tuscany 😊
Food very salty. Bread good. Overpriced even at half off pasta night
Perfect from start to finish!!
Food and service always top notch!!
Service can be spotty - waiters seemed to be confused as to what section our table was in initially. Food is ok but nothing outstanding, which it should be for the price. I was also turned off by the tons of dust handing off the tapestries hanging in the dining room - yuck!
The food is consistently delicious. We were delighted to enjoy the terrace seating. However, we were seated directly under the speaker and asked for a reduction in the volume that did not occur.
Me and my husband Love this place. It’s all above good
I can’t say anything negative about the ambiance, the service, the server, or the pasta, it’s spectacular, as is the bread. Unfortunately, I ordered a chicken marsala and my Aunt a francaise, not a pasta dish. The flavor of these dishes was on point, but the presentation of the chicken was less than desirable. The meat was tough and thick. It was as if they took a breast, cut it in half, and served it. Anytime I have had chicken in a marsala or francaise sauce,, the chicken has been thinly sliced and pounded. This chicken was none of those things. I was greatly disappointed.
We sat outside and it was very nice. Quiet and relaxing, but the service was a little slower than usual. A few different servers came to our table throughout the meal so it was a bit confusing as to who was actually helping us. Food was delicious as usual, although part of our meal was forgotten so we ended up taking it to go.
Experience was not what I expected. The hostess who sat us seemed like she hated her job, very depressed sounding and a bit annoyed sounding too. Never was asked for choice of eating outside. It was very loud since a party was happening on the other side of the room. Food and drinks were delicious but very expensive. Our waiter disappeared somewhere towards the end of our meal, really didn’t look us in the eye and wasn’t very welcoming. He seemed too busy to be bothered. I think I can get similar food, elsewhere, for a better price and happier experience.
Seating was quick. Had two specials which were both delicious. $32 for average sized portions but great for something tasty and different. A little slow to get bread and water for the table.
I felt little more expensive than expected such as a $12 Cesar Salad but it was a nice portion and very good.
A great place to share a nice relaxing lunch with family and friends
Nice Mother’s Day lunch. Went to the 2:00 buffet seating. Lots of choices. Food was excellent. Well run. Service was very good. At $50 per person, it’s expensive, but we thought worth it.
Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch
Always nice staff and great food. Reservation process was easy. We have every birthday dinner here and buy our birthday cakes here too. Worth the trip.
Beautiful atmosphere, ambience and lighting spot on. Will definitely be back.
Waiter gave my date and myself lots of time between courses as requested so we would be able to talk and get to know each other.
seafood salad was tasteless and no clams or mussels were in it. entree was brought out while still eating appetizer. waitress had asked if we wanted them together, and we emphatically answered no. people at the next table were also unhappy with the service. they left in a huff and took their meal to go since it took so long to be served. we found just the opposite; it was rushed. it was also odd to see a table of four adults playing cards!
We did't know that there was a buffet on Easter Sunday until after we were seated. A manager told us that's what they do for all holidays. We didn't mind this but we were in the farthest away table in the dining room, my mom has bad legs, & weaving in & out of tables while carrying food was a major inconvenience. I made this reservation on line & nowhere did I see that there was a buffet.
Also adding in your own gratuity was not ethical or professional.
Let's face it, how much work does a buffet waitress do anyway. I saw the bus men running around like crazy.
Looks like many people love Calendras. It was a bit of madness with the crowd, but it did slow down at the 2:30 seating. Overall, it was fine & the servers were great!
OVERPRICED, OVERCROWDED. NO ENJOYMENT FOR EASTER. WILL NOT ATTEND AGAIN
Our visit was a birthday celebration. The service was very attentive! When the server heard we were celebrating a birthday, she went above and beyond to make the bday person feel special. Even a candle in their dessert without asking. Service always on point and food absolutely delicious!!
Better than Average
The homemade pasta is amazing, the desserts are awesome (cheesecake is to die for!)!! Wait staff is always friendly and on point. We went on a Friday night and there was a two piece band. While they were good, they were SO loud that everyone was yelling to hear each other in conversation. We were sitting the furthest from them and it was still way too loud. Other than that, the beer selection is minimal but it is a full bar with a great wine selection and awesome specials!!
Don't forget to bring home fresh bread from the village!!
