Very disappointed as on arrival there was no table! The manager said he had 4 bookings at 5.30 and 3 tables and we appeared to be unlucky - he offered us one outside but that was far too windy to sit at! This was for a special occasion as we were celebrating with our daughters going to a concert and the meal was all part of the celebration.
Not really sure what we were booking - maybe just to go to the front of a queue!!!
Shocking service, sent 3 meals back, staff did not care, really disappointing
Very busy time before a gig at the O2 but they coped really well. Food was decent and you could book a table in advance unlike restaurants inside the arena. Ideal location for the arena itself too - just outside the main entrance.
Had a meal before Bruno Mars concert, service was very quick and limited time between courses but very friendly/professional - to be expected on big concert nights as there was a queue waiting! Food was good - the new menu tagine was lovely but wouldn't have been enough for my husband....
The serving staff were nice, but the kitchen was having terrible problems because of insufficient staff. They were expecting no customers because there was no event at the O2 but hadn't known there were the tall ships at Greenwich. We waited ages and ages for our food. I had mackerel rillettes, but was given only a tiny bit of bread with it. My modules were in a liquid that was so salty I could not finish it.
This is the second time in two months I have been to a Cafe Rouge and neither experience has been great. I previously went to the one in Greenwich where plates are scrapped and stacked publicly at visible service stations, before being removed through the restaurant. It is like being in a canteen.
This is probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I have had in a long time. First of all when I came in with my reservation I was told by the waiter that they didn't had my reservation since their preferable partner was Bookatable not OpenTable. In the end the sorted out a table for us but we were 6 people and got a table for 4 where we then ourselves could sort out 2 extra chairs at the end. The service was extremely slow and not very friendly and the woman behind the bar really took her time and was acting like she couldn't be asked. We told them from the beginning that we were going to a concert but depsite that we had to chase for the food 3 times. Even worse when we then finally got the food it was cold - so have clearly been sitting there a long time without anyone serving it. This was both my first and last time at this restaurant - I would rather eat a sandwich from Tesco than going back here.
The restaurant was empty. The food ok definitely nothing special and expensive given the quality. The staff were very pleasant and attentive.
Nice food, pleasant surroundings. Service could have been better.
Nice spot on The Avenue at The o2, nice food at a reasonable price and pleasant, friendly service. Worth booking if you are going to an event as walk-ins were getting turned away while we were there.
Thanks to booking through Opentable we were able to enjoy a meal before an event at the O2. Although the restaurant was busy the staff were attentive and made you feel as if you were the only people that mattered. The food was tasty, portions adequate and arrived in a reasonable time. A good choice of wines helped complete the evening......cost was acceptable.
Although we were a bit late for our reservation the Manager had not let our table go to anybody else even though people were being turned away due to it being very busy. We were there for the Strictly show at the O2 and was very pleased to be able to eat here beforehand. The restaurant was full and buzzing so we expected to wait a while for our food. As it was, the starters came quite quickly but had to ask twice for our main courses. However, I think this was do to a lot of people dining here pre show so another time it would probably be quicker. This has not put me off from going here again and the food and staff were very good.
Our 2nd visit to this restaurant as a pre show meal. Both times have unfortunately been very disappointing. Food was just ok, nothing like you'd expect from cafe rouge. Ordered desert and bill at same time to speed things up, but had to ask for bill 4 times. Overall service slow and disorganised and food was "rubbish" as my elderly relative stated to the manager.
We won't be returning in the future.
Pre-booked table not ready, a wait for menus and drinks when we did eventually sit down. Starters were fine but the burgers were very dry. Not all menu items available. Portion size OK. We were there before a show which all ended up being a massive rush due to delayed start. Staff all looked harassed as the place was packed, though this is surely normal in the run up to a show ? Wouldn't bother going again.
I reserved a table for 530pm and got seated at 555 pm. It was mobbed in there with 10 people queuing. I understand when people have deadlines for an event they need to eat quickly so I just think they took too many in. I should have had a table not being used waiting for me knowing they had so many in there. I ordered my daughters meal early and it didn't turn up till after my husband and my meal arrived and I had to remind them. Our meal came out quickly although for 13 pounds for the salmon I was very disappointed as it was mushy and not worth the money. Probably worth 9 pounds. Also my husband had a burger and he said the Brie on top was awful and again that was about 13 pounds and too highly priced. Apart from my daughters meal of bangers and mash child's portion we had a beer and a wine and the bill came to 50 pounds. I think this is far too expensive for literally a 45 minute meal. We shouldn't have to ask for a refund it should be automatic compensation for firstly having to wait 25 mins for a table and thus having to eat quickly which made us late into the event. I must say the maitradee did everything possible to accommodate us and was very apologetic and the head waiter too. They were polite and very effective under enough pressure so I don't fault them. I just think you need to review your prices and menus to ensure people get a quick meal. Perhaps have a menu for event goers!
All of our food including starters arrived late and at the same time! Staff didn't seem to care. Pre-booked and arrived to a virtually empty restaurant and offered the table closest to the window; wow thanks!
Utter shambles- booked a table at 1 for a show at 230 Friday 23rd Dec Arrived at 1245 and finally sat down at 120. Ordered food (no starter as did not have the time now) which arrived at 210 - bolted that down and ran for the show - my confit was over cooked and hard - we got £30 off for the experience- very very poor
Worse omelette and salad was limp
We always eat at Cafe Rouge when visiting the 02 as we find the restaurants inside the arena cold and soulness and we can use our Gourmet Society card. Although we had booked we still had to join a queue which never went away the whole 2 hours we were there. We were lucky enough to have a table away from the door and queue, but could still feel the constant draught. We pitied those with their tables by the door with the queue brushing up against them. All this is a sign of the popularity of the chain so I guess they are thankful. It probably emptied out by 7.30pm. However as a dining experience, although the food is good, the restaurant is packed, noisy with tables very close to one another to the extent that it was difficult to negotiate the obstacle course to the toilets with one woman complaining to me that people were constantly brushing past her on the way to the loo. But we were there at peak time.
Have been to lots of cafe rouges, this one is quite good... The staff are ok but not quite as good as the bluewater cafe ... They do a good filet steak and salad ....
We were very disappointed with this restaurant as the choice of food was limited and they had run out of a couple of dishes. Should plan better when there is an event at the 02.
Busy after ATP Tennis, but looked after in a very friendly environment.
Appalling! Arrived to find out they'd given our table away because we were 5 minutes late! We were told very abruptly and unapologetically we could be placed in a queue and maybe seated in 15 minutes?! We left. Would never go here. Staff were so rude, terrible attitude.
Great place to eat. Lovely menu. Friendly helpful staff. Have eaten there on numerous occasions, never been disappointed. Full marks. Looking forward to our next visit
I do not expect a fine dining experience when I visit Cafe Rouge, however, I do expect edible food and a little courtesy in exchange for my payment. We arrived at 4.45pm for a 5pm booking and it appeared to be relatively quiet. We were met by the rudest supervisor I have ever come across who proceeded to bark at me 'you have 1 hour, understood, 1 hour". Nowhere in my OpenTable booking did it state this restriction but the supervisor was not interested. It went from bad to worse when they tried seating my mother and I at a table where there were 2 fire extinguishers which meant one of us would have to sit half in the aisle . We insisted that we would like another table and then ordered the simplest item on the menu, baguette au poulet (chicken baguette) - "can't go wrong " we said. Oh yes you can - an oversized baguette with 4 measly, dried pieces of barely warm chicken, no mayo, no butter, no nothing. it was the most unappetising, bland, inedible meal I have tasted since school days. Yes I could have complained, I could have refused to pay but my mother ate some of hers and I didn't want to ruin what was supposed to be a nice evening out at the 02 to watch Andrea Bocelli. Both tables next to us were also very unhappy with their food so I decided to turn a negative into a positive and inject a little humour into the proceedings, so, every time the waitresses barked "food ok lady" I would say in my best Simon Callow theatrical voice "marvellous, simply marvellous"! I left feeling less miffed for being £35 lighter but still hungry as my story has entertained family and friends no end.
Not the best experience for us. Booked meal prior to concert at 02. We were greeted by a waitress who we found to be curt and lacking in customer service skills. Not made to feel welcome at all. My salad was supposed to have a dressing on the side which never came and when I ordered a coffee I had to ask for a spoon. Also a really big bug bear for me - no hand soap in the ladies. Would not go to this restaurant again.
I felt the food was good and staff started well but then we felt pretty much passed around. Asked 3 members of staff before we could pay and leave. Not great when with the family and certainly not for the price!!
Service was really good, fast and friendly. Burgers were overcooked, chips wern't great. The steak sandwich was good
They push far too many tables in food ok service very good
Poor service and indifferent food. Some of party left rather than face the food after the less than welcoming arrival and slow initial service.
We had dined once before at this restaurant and had a loverly meal, service was excellent , we decided to go back and celebrate our wedding anniversary, we were not disappointed, we will visit again.
Good points our server was very good they work really hard and well as a team Bad points the whole thing was totally chaotic and mad They need to stop people hanging around at the bar and access routes the meal was in no way relaxed or calm even
Superb food, excellent friendly service. great value for money. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Food was ok, however service was slow and the waitress who served our table was arrogant and she didn't impress us with her non sense jokes.
Most of the food arrived incorrect to the order however staff we polite and quick to correct it
I have visited Café Rouge many times in different locations and it seems to have a brand standard. Food is good, not spectacular. We enjoyed a couple of glasses of wine and a main course (Duck for me and the burger for my companion). There was a bit of an error when the fries arrived as my companion is gluten intolerant and we were advised that the fries are cooked in the same oil as some of the breadcrumbed items on the menu, so they were replaced by a salad. I actually thought this was a good detail as not many places would have identified this as a potential problem (the burger bun was gluten free)
Cafe ROuge NEVER disappoints. Great value, lovely food, and quick service prior to going into the O2
have been to cafe rouge before in Bristol and London a bit dissapointed at the lack of choice in London they had sold out of all my favourite dishes and the children were dissapointed that there were no crepes. for a restaurant near the 02 I felt that this was very bad management as it is very popular for pre show meals we will dine elsewhere in future
We choose Café Rouge at the O2, as we were attending a performance. The booking was made via Opentable but when we arrived the booking had not been acknowledged due to email issues at the restaurant. The Manager was aware of this and despite the restaurant being very busy, with people waiting in line, she immediately resolved to ensure that we got our table. It was more challenging, as we were a table of 6! Not only did we get our table, a round of drinks on the house, but the service from that point was excellent. The food was exactly what we expect from Café Rouge, decent honest fayre!
Thanks to the staff at the restaurant.
The staff were extremely helpful despite being very busy. The portions however were far too small and I was left feeling very hungry despite having a main course and dessert.
Standard Cafe Rouge menu but also have a set menu to choose from. Relaxing atmosphere would recommend.
