Café on the Green
Cafe on the Green is a guaranteed great meal every time. It’s renovated interior is fresh and updated, the service is always top notch and the prices are in line with other restaurants in the area. Don’t hesitate to try it out.
Went for Thanksgiving. Entrance seemed like a community center. Staff were friendly, but not very attentive. Butternut squash soup and desserts were good. Turkey dinner drab and dry - without much stuffing or gravy. Had to track down server to get some coffee before we finished desserts (coffee was included in prix fixe). Overall, fine, but not fancy or festive or great
Enjoyed the beautiful light with the open windows and views of the course! Food was delicious and the wait staff friendly and attentive!
Went with family for Thanksgiving and it was perfect!
We all thoroughly enjoyed our dinners! Great food! Staff was so polite. It was very enjoyable.
Great meeting spot between my and ct to meet our friends for dinner! Will return!
I have been here a number of times. The food has always been very good and it appears that the place was updated not to long ago. I would highly recommend this place!
Excellent as usual
Quiet Sunday afternoon meal with old friends. Excellent food, priced well and attentive service.
As we prepare to move away from Connecticut, we had to make sure to get one last visit to Cafe on the Green. Always a wonderful experience! We will miss this place but not Connecticut taxes!
Wine mark-up was not too bad. Entrees were good, dessert was excellent. A little noisy as a very large party arrived just as we ordered, but not intrusive.
Great food, wonderful view of the golf course and the service was terrific. Had the chicken Florentine and it was very nice. Would recommend to anyone!
As always the service and food is first class. This is a restaurant to be highly recommended.
Visting from out of state, we are pleased to periodically return to the Cafe on the Green as a location for family meals or events. The setting is very nice winter or summer, overlooking the golf course. Staff are unfailingly welcoming and helpful, and the food is consistently good. In an area dotted mostly with chain restaurants, the Cafe offers something different, and does it well.
I would recommend Café on the Green as a perfect spot for lunch on the kind of day it was when my friend and I visited. Not too hot, a nice breeze and some golfers to watch. Service was just O.K. I cannot recall our server asking if we wanted dessert or coffee, but we received the check before we were able to order it. My burger was fine; nothing special. My friend had the chick pea salad with shrimp, which she enjoyed. Our desserts were very good, but when is dessert bad? Overall, it was a nice lunch. Next time, I would order something other than the burger.
We took two friends visiting from Florida there for dinner
They were equally impressed
I didn’t realize that Danbury has such a wonderful place. The food and service was terrific
The perfect place for dinner with old friends and to catch up
Environment was quiet and we never felt rushed
They will definitely be seeing us again
We were a party of five, and all of us loved our dinner!! We will be back!
It was a pleasant afternoon and the food great. Even the birthday candles on our desert. Thanks...
Absolutely. It never fails to disappoint. It is our go to restaurant for special occasions in the area.
I went to Cafe in the Green with my sister and father on Father’s Day and it was a perfect experience. It was a 4 course pre-fixed menu with your options on the first, third and fourth courses. I was unable to eat due to health issues which they were very understanding of. My father and sister loved their food (it looked soooo delicious) and the scenery was beautiful. Our server was gracious, accommodating, and attentive. He deserves the most credit, although everything was wonderful. My sister took the tab since I did not eat, and I was in the industry for 10 years myself so this review should not be taken lightly! Thank you so much!
We had a wonderful experience. The food, service and atmosphere helped the evening to flow beautifully.
Food, service, location were just what i was expecting. Our drinks however were horrible. I was so looking forward to your French Martini as it has always been fabulous at your establishment....it was drowning in Chambord and my husband had a gin and tonic and the tonic was flat......we normally would have said something but we were entertaining guests etc....that was the only disappointing part....
We were a table of 8 and the only people who ate there that night. The waiter was pleasant but once the meal was served he was absent. We had to look for him to refill our water glasses.
While we understand including the gratuity in the bill for a party of 8, the gratuity that was added was abusive. 20% was added to the total bill which included the tax. In effect this was a 23% gratuity.
All 8 of us felt taken advantage of.
Lunch with a cousin who found us through DNA!
We were celebrating two adult birthdays with 8 people. We shared several appetizers, ordered off of the specials menu as well as the regular menu and most of us had dessert. There wasn't a morsel of food not eaten! Everything was delicious and the service was outstanding. We all can't wait to go back!
Food was good but service was lacking. Off the beaten path if you don't know where you are going.
We have eaten at Cafe on the Green many times and this was the first time I did not enjoy my dinner.
I had the pasta with shellfish special. Both the shrimp and scallops were very under cooked. If there was a sauce on the pasta it was tasteless. Our friend's steak was also under cooked. She sent it back, and while they did cook it better it took a very long time to be returned
As always we enjoyed our visit to Cafe On The Green. We have been going there for years, especially to celebrate our birthdays in May. We have always enjoyed wonderful food and good service. Unfortunately, our birthdays fall around Mother's Day and although we will go on a Saturday night, it is crowded. This year the noise level was a little higher due to a table of children on their own and the service of the main course delayed due to large families. We still enjoyed our dining experience.
Had been there previously and food was good. Seafood dishes were not fresh and inedible. Tiny bowl of pasta with butter ordered for child and charged $10. They did discount fish dishes but still should have never been served in first place.
Good but not great food in a very nice setting. Nice menu with an emphasis on seafood that is well prepared. Surprisingly good wine list, with reasonable pricing. Food is solid, but not spectacular. Entree comes with a salad, always a nice touch.
Recently renovated restaurant situated on a golf course provides diners with a tranquil view of the hills. Outstanding food & service! Great cocktails. A relaxing experience in fine dining.
Food was absolutely delicious. However, the rack of lab that was an evening special was quite a small portion.
White glove treatment. Great menu (i had calamari and Pasta Carbonaro and my colleague had a “great” filet) and great wine list. Service was impeccable
The Cafe on the Green was very quiet. It was great looking out the window and viewing the golfer's practicing. The food was hot as it came right out of the kitchen. I feel the menu should be changed up a bit as the specials are always the specials and never change.
Salad greens a bit limp, shrimp over poked and tough, scallops very nice, bouillabaisse just okay.
Liked the room renovation. Like the formality log the dining room and the view through the windows.
The newly renovated restaurant was beautifully appointed inside. Our server was attentive with our drink orders right away. We had the scallops with corn and roasted red peppers as well as the clams with chorizo appetizer items and the clams were out of this world. For entrees we had the shrimp carbonara and the french onion filet tips. The carbonara had huge delicious shrimp in it and the pasta was al dente and creamy (with maybe just a touch too much truffle oil in it). The filet tips were expertly cooked and the Marsala wine sauce on top was great. For dessert, we had the creme brulee which was excellent as well.
All in all, we really enjoyed our meal here and we would definitely come back again. Great place to eat with great views of the golf course.
My husband and I had a great time. The food was excellent, we both had Snapper with Lobster which was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh, crisp and delicious. The only complaint would be $14 for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Other than that, service was great, our waiter was delightful.
