Excellent as always. I love eating here - wonderful food, professional service and understated ambience. You feel you’re in a friendly local restaurant where the staff genuinely care and the food is cooked to perfection. The attention to detail is excellent.
Booked this for our 28th wedding anniversary dinner, and we were not disappointed! Menu interesting, with wide ranging choices, prices good value for this part of London, the service was exceptionally good-and yes - the food was wonderful. We will definitely be back, and I’ve already started telling our friends. Thanks
Perfect choice for a theatre evening! Even though it is situated within yards of the Lyceum staff do not hurry you through and could not be more attentive or helpful. My wife suffered a fall during the walk there and they were so kind, quickly providing and icepack.
The menu offers great variety, including a fixed price menu if you wish. The restaurant is very pleasant, though obviously bustling, given its location, with people shuffling past in the narrow walkway.
We opted for main and sweet courses which were all authentic and delicious. I chose the crab risotto which I highly recommend.
Nice ambiance in a stylish establishment in Covent Garden.
But menu too pricey (even by standards of the postcode).
Good flavours all round but ravioli was undercooked at the edges. If an Italian restaurant struggles to get its pasta right...
Ordered a John Dory as a main but had a starter portion brought out. Then got charged for the main anyway.
Bit disappointed as was treating my wife to a birthday lunch. So the general lack of attention to detail with customer service was quite irritating.
It’s a shame because the decor is lovely and they really could provide a great experience.
friendly stuff, price ok, service fine, quality of food: fine.
Very high quality food, reasonably priced, with good service. However, the acoustics were appalling and the noise level was extraordinary, given that it was only the other customers talking!
Lovely food, quick and attentive service as we said we were heading to the opera. Lovely atmosphere and a surprise dessert for my husband's birthday. We will defintaley return as food and service was excellent.
Excellent as ever. The young lady behind the bar on our visit was very helpful and charming.
We were sat in the front table, even though it was obvious ot was a special occasion.
Anyone else who entered was sat pass the bar where the ambiance seemed a bit better.
The host was super helpful to other tables, not geri friendly to my wife and I. He could have gathered her jacket like he did with other guest.
The waitress and food were the best parts of the evening
Nibbles were very good but my pasta tagliatelle with truffles was over seasoned and verging on greasy because of the overuse of butter to finish. Clumsy. Wine was very overpriced for the style of restaurant. I will go again, perhaps it was an off night in the kitchen. I would have expected more.
Consistently superb food, highly efficient yet friendly service, perfect location for shows or Covent Garden. I love coming here....... and I am fussy.
They could close if they don't provide better food. Just back from Rome and every meal we had was better and cheaper.
Fabulous pre theatre birthday lunch and they’re amazing with little people. Such delicious food as always - courgette fritters are to die for!!
Nothing exceptional, my risotto seemed somewhat bland, but wine was good value and deep fried courgettes rescued the day
Excellent service so good for a quick business lunch.
Great food and very good staff! Ate here 3 times while in London and superb every time! Highly recommend!
Wonderful service with a smile. Delicious meal, very tasty and the wine was one of the best I've ever had. Only reason it's not five stars as the starter (salami and bread) was a little underwhelming for the price.
Nice food, wine and service in pleasant surroundings. I’ve visited a Cafe Murano many times and will return again.
As good as ever
The pasta special with shaved black truffles is outstanding!!!!!
I chose this venue after reading reviews and was expecting something special. Food was okay, service was friendly and efficient. Lacked atmosphere, probably because of the time of day. Overpriced for what it was but I guess I was paying for the location.
I would not return or recommend to others.
I am so disappointed by our experience with regard the quality of the food. I have a colleague who is a regular at the St James’s site and he has kindly invited me a few times and it always blew me away. I have told loads of people in the restaurant industry that I worked in for 35 years. When I was to arrange a reunion of people who had gone to Westminster Hotel college 37 years ago to celebrate an old friend, a chef, was visiting from her home in Jamaica I had no hesitation to book there as Covent Garden was more convenient. But it is literally like they are unrelated restaurants. The menu may be similar but the quality was miles apart. At no stage did anyone say “oh wow this is delicious, or hey Mike you would love this ,please have a try”. My main course pasta which I still dream of when I went to St James was dry with no effort to toss/coat the pasta parcels in rich, buttery sauce I had to move them around the bottom of the plate to try to get some taste/ moisture. The risotto was just OK I heard. It felt to me that if they really are meant to be the same food quality it was that due to being a Monday the main chefs were off. There is no way Angela Hartnett or her Chef in St James would be happy.
Having said all that we of course had a super time drinking lots of delicious wine and catching up and laughing.
So if you were to ask why did i not complain ( as previously planned by me I paid all the food bill and service myself as I didn’t want anyone to not order plenty of food as I really wanted them to try lots and to be blown away) it was not that anything was bad, inedible etc just really disappointing and we were all having such a super afternoon it seemed churlish to ruin the atmosphere of the group.
I would not return to there ,nor would any of others ,we talked about it after but they were being polite. I eat at Polpo a lot but had wanted to treat my friends to a definite level up as I had experienced in St James. Angela should be informed.
Poor, spicy food pasta dishes and a roaming mouse on Saturday June 29.
Excellent restaurant as usual. Great food at a reasonable price. Really fresh ingredients simply put together.
My family and I were off to the theatre so chose here to have my birthday celebration meal!
Very impressed with the food and service!
My children thoroughly enjoyed it and was made welcome by the waitress!
We would definately visit again!
Restaurant was excellent. Service was great, food was better! If I ever go back to London I definitely will return to Cafe Murano!
Beautiful food, with great service, we asked them to slow down serving our main course and they were more than happy to do so -did not feel pressured to eat and go
Wine was lovely overall we had a great evening
Pre theatre supper. Absolutely superb as always
The food is fresh, simple & so tasty, you feel you are in Italy
Good food and ambience, though very noisy until the adjoining tables emptied. We went after a show and it all worked well. Service excellent and staff attentive. Only downside was that as we reached the end of our meal the staff started cleaning all the vacant tables all around us which rather ruined what had up to then been a very positive and relaxed environment.
We were attended adequately but were seated in the corridor by the entrance. It felt like a passageway, not pleasant. The meal was good.
Great food, great service, good value.
They were very accommodating with my toddler
The service was good and the bread to start was tasty, but other then that I didn’t find it ‘wow’, it felt like a bog standard Italian restaurants that is in Covent Garden, so can charge a small fortune. Our bill came to nearly £100, that was with only one started as my husbands start was removed from the bill as it was extremely salty, two mains, a dessert and two coffees. I didn’t feel it was good value for money and nothing to write home about
Great, interesting food with fabulous service. A bit loud is the one down side.
My favourite restaurant in Covent Garden. Always a treat to enjoy the excellent food, exemplary wines and warm ambiance.
Have had rave reviews about Cafe Murano but I was extremely disappointed
Food was ok but no more
The wine I found eye wateringly expensive. The glass of house white I had on arrival was no more than average but was extremely expensive.
I hit the middle ground for our main but the bottle of Tuscan red was very average to say the least for £60.00. I have far superior in my rack of 'drinking wines' at home that I pay around the £10.00 mark for at Laithwaites
We tried several other options by the glass but all the same story - inferior quality, premium price.
My client was unimpressed with my choices and I will not be going again
Excellent food and service. The only negative was the rather cramped table very close to another table but overall it was a super evening and I look forward to a return visit.
We had a Saturday evening booking for our weddinganniversary. We were Greeted with a smile and seated upstairs. Lovely decor. Not noisy at all. Service was courteous and efficient. The staff were Accommodating with my gluten free requests. We had the octopus and gnocchi starter, both delicious. For main we shared the chateaubriand which was cooked medium rare although we said medium. Husband was please regardless. Huge portion and could have fed 3 so very good value. The salsa verde was sublime. Really rustic authentic simple Italian dishes. The desserts were well presented and also good portion size. Great restaurant, highly recommend and we will be returning for sure!
All good. Café Murano is the ideal restaurant for dinner before the opera.
Good meal as usual only spoiled by one issue. We ordered almond grantia for desert but what we got was
almond ice cream. A granita is looser and more grainy as it contains not cream, egg etc - more grainy than a sorbet. This was not authentic at all and it is not difficult to make
