Café Murano - Covent Garden
Very very ordinary
We were visiting Murano for an early supper pre theatre. The food and service were excellent. Loved being able to have 500cl of wine from the wine 🍷 list not just from the House wine.
The food was excellent. The pasta a.d starters delicious as were the desserts. We went for a slightly premium wine from Campagnia and that was excellent. The wine list is focused on Italy but diverse within that and offers wine at differing price points
Poooor service from the minute we walked in.
Food uninspiring - but seriously overshadowed by shocking service.
On this occasion the place was full and the staff were not keeping up with demands. We were given the wrong bill and had to wait ages to sort it out.
Had a lovely evening in Cafe Murano with friends.
Food lovely, good cocktails and excellent service.
Would definitely recommend to others and will return.
Cafe Murano is always a safe choice for good food and reliable service - and they serve the best Arancini in town.
Great food, bread and olives are outstanding. We enjoyed the Italian Sausage pasta, the Bream and whole plaice. The arancini are wonderful. We didn’t get to a dessert as we were going to the theatre but we did enjoy an excellent bottle of Friuli wine. Great value and quality all around.
Authentically Italian in its straightforward simplicity and respect for ingredients. The hartnet wine selection good but pricey. Well done.
The best risotto in London, a terrific Italian wine list and excellent service. It feels authentic, not just one more identikit 'Italian' restaurant.
As a regular customers, we was surprised about the quality of service this time. The main meal was not served for about 40 min and there was no apology/explanation. Asked a couple of times to check the status of the main meal but they just avoided eye contacts with us. We were not happy about that. Seemed like there was a big group or customers but a bit of explanation /apology would have been good.
I was recommended cafe Murano by my daughter . Food was excellent and ambiance lovely our only problem was waiter got our order wrong . We ordered three of the pumpkin tortelli For our main meal. He brought us one meal and three hot plates . Would definitely have a return visit though as food was delicious.K
I struggle a little with the menu as I only eat chicken and fish so a little limited as lots of red meat. Also a couple of choices unavailable as sold out. Ignored a request to sit at the back of the restaurant much nicer than by the door way which is a little draughty and cold air bursts through every time the door opens. Disappointing as sat in what felt like a dark corridor on the previous occasion so thought they’d make an effort today given my polite feedback. Food nice but not amazing enough to warrant prices charged. A present so no complaints but wouldn’t rush back.
With reservations though. Waited along time for food but the waiter did give us complimentary drinks. We also waited at bar as table not ready. The service Was friendly but slow as they were dealing with diners too. The opening experience was all too hectic but staff did try their best
The ambiance was ok, food were served promptly. The taste and serving size were fair. The main course of risotto could use additional spices as it was bland. But over all, service was great.
Hugely disappointed! This was a special weekend for us and this restaurant was average, at best. The service was terrible and we were made to feel unwelcome and that we were some sort of hassle. The food arrived in less than 5 minutes showing it was all pre-cooked and heated up! There are much better (quality of food, value and service) restaurants in the same area.
Excellent and informative service and very good food - the risotto was outstanding. Sadly, the occasion was marred by an unbelievably loud customer at the adjoining table who seemed to think he was performing and had no regard for anyone else. He made our conversation very difficult.
Excellent food! Service not so good, got somewhat forgotten at the only intermittently staffed eating counter
Great food, great service, great location, gorgeous restaurant and wonderful for families. Highly recommended.
Delicious Italian food, simply prepared, with a good selection of wines to go with it. One of our best Italian restaurant experiences in London.
Food was good but very poor service.
Main gripe is that on checking the bill later (we left in a hurry due to trains to catch and slow service) we have been charged £38.50 for a bottle of house white wine which I think was £22 on the menu!
Portions were too small and left hungry. Food was tasty but nothing special for the price. Very disappointed.
Lovely meal and atmosphere. Very speedy response from the kitchen. The newly appointed manager from Glasgow was charming
Staff excellent. Food also and as always!
Another lovely visit to Cafe Murano, great food and speedy service, thank you!
My second visit it a week. This time I had the plaice and it was swimming in utter. I t woul have been better to put some butter sauce on the fish and serve the rest of the sauce in a jug on the side. The noise level was a bit louder this time but then that is typical of all l'italien restaurants.
Over all still a very good meal
Unfortunately, it was a very bad experience. Loud, noisy, very bad food and very unprofessional staff. Wouldn’t recommend!
A very warm welcome on arrival. Service was good and the food was indeed value for money as well as being tasty and enjoyable.
The food was lovely overall but I’d really like to emphasise how wonderful the service was, particularly as we had brought along my 2 year old who was treated as an honoured customer and everything was accommodated for us with a child
Excellent food, some of the best Italian food we’ve had outside of Italy. Ambience good, but perhaps upstairs where we ate is ready for a minor refresh - certainly not tatty however.
Saturday lunchtime table - quite a lot of young kids about. Not a problem for us but is for some. Efficient and prompt service and good value. Recommended for an informal meal.
Fantastic food and a lovely ambiance. The staff were very friendly and engaged.
Wonderful and authentic Italian food great service without being invasive and good atmosphere -will come again soon
We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation and hoped to have a drink at the bar but the staff were so accommodating and seated us immediately and set up around us. We had lovely food and wine and thoroughly enjoyed the night. Thank you
The lamb was excellent, tender and pink inside. Another had the plaice grilled and said it was also excellent.
The service was very good, except for the fact that our sparkling water was forgotten for a bit. I’ve put very noisy because it has wood panelling and wooden floors. However, these make it cosy as well as noisy. The salt cod fritters were outstanding. Angela Hartnett has a light touch with her food which never fails to intrigue and please.
Average Italian restaurant
We had an excellent meal here, great food, my plaice was extremely fresh, very friendly staff and knowledgeable too
A little pre theatre meal at Cafe Murano and we were not disappointed. Great food, great service and ambiance. The staff dealt with my guests food intolerances in a discreet manner . We will certainly be dining there again if we are in Covent garden.
Lovely restaurant with friendly staff and a nice ambience. Reasonable prices especially as the food was so delicious and the portions were generous. Service was a little slow but as we had plenty of time before our show it wasn’t really an issue. Very handy for all the West End theatres so great for a pre-theatre meal.
We had a delightful evening at Murano, very good food ,though my pasta could have had a bit more sauce to make it a bit more scivoloso . Thanks for the Prosecco and the lovely service.
