The new fall menu is very appetizing. Server was very helpful. Setting is beautiful. Only downside is noise level which prevents conversation. Price for ice tea is $3.75 and while it is good that seems a bit excessive.
Pre Chamber Music performance lunch with friends. Wonderful setting and outside view. Under staffed on this occasion, so service was slow, and took a long time to get bill and pay. Have eaten there several times and really enjoyed the experience. Slow service on some occasions is the only issue we have ever had. Recommend for leisurely meal.
First time we had been. We were celebrating two birthdays and wanted to try it after hearing positive things. When we walked in I was unimpressed with the ambiance. Plenty of concrete and glass, high ceilings, high noise level and very casual. (I guess I should’ve expected that at a modern art museum.) in other reviews, some had said it was romantic, but in my opinion, it was far from that. The food was fair at best. We ordered a variety of appetizers/entrees and they were all passable, but were either over or under seasoned and not very imaginative. Also, the prices were high for the value received. The service was just ok. Bottom line is that we won’t go back again.
Once again the luncheon menu selections were diverse and well prepared. The setting was wonderful and relaxing.
80% of my meals there are pretty good and this was one of those times where food and service service were very subpar. Fall brunch menu has nothing special to offer and we never saw our server. I would have returned my salad if someone check on us. My vegetarian wife’s omelet was unflavored and they put sausage on her plate and then laughed about it upon delivery. I really wish this place was better managed.
The restaurant got a tranquil setting looking at a reflective pool in the Modern Art Museum designed by world-renowned architect Tadao Ando. It's just beautiful!
Business lunch (3 people) but so loud we could not hear each other at our table, could also not hear/understand the server because of the decibel level. Service seemed stretched thin and generally it was a chaotic loud experience.
We celebrated my mother's birthday & it was a great experience. The food & staff were awesome.
An off day for one our favorite FW Sunday brunch spots. Service was slow, food was cold, and French mimosa was mixed wrong. Still going back. A great spot 90% of the time.
I’ve had lunch at the modern several times. I thought that it would be a great place to meet friends after church Sunday. Since I normally sit by the window and there’s only two of us this day there was five of us. It was so loud we could not visit. I don’t know if the twosome tables by the window are just quieter. It was not a great place to go visit with friends
I would recommend Café Modern with the caveat that the ladies and the gentleman should bring jackets and shawls. It is much too cold in the dining area, especially sitting close to the windows at the tables for two. As far as the food goes it was well presented, but too salty. My husband and I both had the quiche and salad both of which was over salted.
Birthday luncheon... love the food, the atmosphere and the quality for the price.
The food was very good--I particularly recommend the Morrocan salad. My daughter always has the Modern Bendict and loves it. Others in our party were happy too. The service is outstanding. The staff is well trained and always gracious. The noise level is troublesome--all steel and glass and high ceilings--lovely to look at but very hard to converse. Don't think there is a thing they can do about it.
It was happy hour time. Heard it's ok to go to bar bought 1/2 price drink, then back to table for dinner. Went to the bar, not crazy packed. The lady bartender, middle age, very tentative to a guy who just paid her & taking his drink away. Now my turn, lady seemed impatience when I said I preferred a sweeter red wine, she answered we had no sweet wine & wanted to leave me. I don't wanna stand there & ordered one on that list, not feeling good. I still gave her tips for serving me though...
The waitress, young lady, serving me was absolutely the opposite. I felt so much better, & she got fat tips!!
Food was excellent best chicken I ever had.i will be coming back
What a nice and welcome find. It was a beautiful setting for the very nice Sunday brunch that we took out of town guests to. We will go back soon.
I absolutely love the Modern, and the ambiance and service at the cafe were wonderful. I felt the food and drinks left something to be desired (my entree and cocktail were both just bland and not that great) , but was still what I’d consider decent. I would come back for the view alone! Such a pretty place to dine.
We love the setting here and the food is always an A+
Great food and views of the lake!
The grilled scallops and fried rice ball with spinach and plums was by far the most delicious, unusual and gorgeous presentation of a lunch special that w have enjoyed at the Modern. It was offered as seared, but we asked for grilled for health reasons and were readily accommodated. We love the fresh style of the new chef and staff. Summer is an amazing wait staff member and always makes our lunch outstanding. We hope that this special will be added to the regular menu.
What can be said? It is an oasis in a Fort Worth desert. Super ambiance, professional service and all within the Modern Art Museum. I took a first date there for Sunday brunch and then walked the museum. It got me kissed! I'll be back and often.
From the view to the chairs to the food to the friendly staff, always a great experience. Love this place.
Beautiful foods! Gracious, calming ambiance! excellent service! Thank you!
We've eaten there several times before. Their menu has some unique choices and we've never been disappointed.
Our favorite place to eat in Fort Worth. Even though yesterday was super busy, due to a film showing, the staff hustled and came through as they always do.
The quality of the food is passable, but certainly nothing out of the ordinary. Our waiter was very pleasant, but also forgetful. We had to ask more than once for sweetener. When I asked for my meal to be served without potatoes, he graciously offered fruit instead. When my meal was served, there were potatoes on the plate, no fruit
A favorite place to dine, we love the unique space, menu, and terrific service!
Fresh food carefully prepared and served. Clancy was our server, and she was friendly and attentive. Excellent meal and pleasant experience.
Awful service, bland food and very loud party made talking impossible. Very disappointed.
My wife and I took a guest from St. Petersburg, Russia for lunch at Cafe Modern after visiting the Monet exhibition at the Kimbell Art Museum. We always enjoyed the setting and the ambiance. In the past, the food and service have been outstanding. On this occasion, however, we were terribly disappointed. The food was inferior and the service was slow. It took ages to get the bill, making me late for my first afternoon appointment. We were all wanting the Moroccan Chicken Salad, but were informed that it is no longer like it used to be when Dena Shaskan was the executive chef. My wife and our guest ordered pasta pomodoro. We were told the chicken and shrimp would be served cold. This would have been fine if the pasta had been fresh and properly prepared. Instead it all stuck together in a cold glam with no hint of olive oil or tomato sauce as stated on the menu. My tiny chicken dish was in a bland, flavorless sauce overpowered by salt. The bread basket for three persons contained three stale, poor tasting "bites." In short, it was a disaster. We will never go back.
Two people split an entre but wait staff split a different (th wrong entre).
Always great food and service! We each ordered a different kind of Eggs Benedict (Oxymoron) and shared so we each had a Caprese and a Lox Salmon. Both were delicious.
Cafe Modern is one of our special places when making the trek from Big D to Cowtown. We love it!
We went to see the Monet exhibit first and then had a wonderful meal at the modern. All was great.
Such a lovely spot. We always enjoy dining here.
When we drive to Fort Worth for some museum time, Café Modern is always our first choice for a meal. We have brought many friends over the years and all have the same reaction. Imaginative menu, delightful surroundings and an all round pleasant experience.
great brunch/lunch option... view exceptional and good value!
Very special space with superior food & service. Can’t be beat!
The service was atttentive, and the salads were great! It was a bit noisy, but the view more than made up for it. Overall, a very nice experience!
Our table was waiting for us upon our arrival. Eventually they took our drinks order, which arrived pretty in an appropriate amount of time. The food was quite good, but the service was not acceptable. Basically we had to ask for a waitress to take our order. Then we waited and waited. After 30 minutes the food got there. We had to ask again for our check. The cafe was about half full, so I can’t imagine why we had to wait so long. So I don’t know that I would recommend it and I won’t be returning.
