Located on 70th Street just west of Broadway, Café Luxembourg entertains New Yorkers and celebrities alike. The full service bar is home to many regulars. The lively buzz of the dining room is inviting and intimate. The frequency of dining customers is testament to the sincere efforts by the entire Café Luxembourg staff.
The menu changes seasonally as well as offering daily specials. The classic menu dishes maintain a level of cooking on par with the city’s best restaurants. Café Luxembourg offers beautifully prepared food with professional, yet unpretentious service at reasonable prices.
Wonderful food and service!
Great lunch. Attentive staff. Thanks for our little treats. John
Cafe Luxembourg was a delightful experience on a recent trip to NY. It’s a small gem of the city. We had Sunday brunch and found both the food and the staff to be outstanding. Our waiter, in particular, was utterly professional, but also quite personable, which added to our enjoyment. We loved being there!
All of our dishes were uniformly excellent. Special commendations for the tuna tartare, the seafood soup, the Brussels sprouts salad, the steak frites, the rack of lamb, and the profiteroles. Service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. The room is quite pleasant. Though very crowded, the nicer level was comfortable.
We absolutely love this restaurant!! The food is always outstanding and recommend it all
the time!! We go often and have a feeling of being someplace we love.
Just what a cafe/bistro is supposed to be. Provincial fish soup, Brussels salad, halibut, and cassoulet were perfectly prepared and presented. The service matched the excellent meal and got us to the opera with time to spare.
Lovely to come to
Our favourite NYC restaurant for Valentines supper. No fuss or added cost - excellent professional service as always and a great evening to remember. This restaurant is all about good food and 5* service.
We went for Valentines Day, all the recommendations from staff were OUTSTANDING, and food was the best we have had in years ....
I love this wonderful little spot! The staff is courteous and attentive, the food is unpretentious and delicious and the atmosphere couldn’t be nicer. It’s one to return to.
Consistently good year after year! Great ambiance, wonderful service, minimal noise level so one can have conversations along with the good food.
Always perfectly cooked entrees, wine was perfect, the wait staff so cute and charming and attentive!
The service was impeccable provided by Eric C.! I would have given the food a 5 but the tuna burger was not cooked as ordered.( wanted it rare & was served medium well) It was a huge tuna burger. The wine list extensive but the bottle of red was warm. overall, we lived it! Great atmosphere, very relaxing , conducive to conversation.
Hostess was a little chilly and made me wait until my guest arrived. When I saw others being seated without their full party I spoke up and she seated me. But she wasn’t particularly pleasant about it.
Fabulous attentive service... as usual, the food is fabulous... we had salmon and halibut.. totally flavorful and beautifully plated.
The tuna burger was tasteless!
My favorite place on the Upper West Side. Classy, friendly, great food, comfortable tables.
Very crowded with tables very close. Noisy. Limited menus but good food. Three scallops was China’s as was my tuna tartare where the avocado base was far higher than a thin layer of tuna tartare. $175 for 1 appetizer, 1 glass of wine and 2 entries was very pricy
The Cafe is a cosy room with great service and food. You'll need a reservation - even on a Monday!
Got my favorite Table
Attentive service in a nice setting. Onion soup and steak frites were great bu the halibut was a bit disappointing
The ricotta pancakes were divine!
Had a great evening here with friends. Wonderful, cozy atmosphere with very good wine list and food. Staff was super accommodating with requests and dietary restrictions. Would highly recommend.
Service, quality, food was good. Also very child friendly place
Food always good. Not the biggest portions around. Efficient friendly service. Super busy weekend nights
A reliable, welcoming refuge on a wintry evening. Outstanding cassoulet, salad and dessert.
Had a late night dinner here. Although we've been in the neighborhood for decades, somehow we never got here before. It was a pleasant surprise. The food was well prepared (moules frites were especially good and chicken was moist and quite tasty) and the service was attentive without being overbearing. On a Thursday evening, it was packed - many obviously repeat diners. I can see how this could become a habit.
It’s always a great place that we go to often. On Wednesday they really went out of their way to accommodate us as we were running quite late. The service was excellent and they made us feel like they were in no rush to close. Highly appreciated and will keep going back
Reliably good cuisine served without pretense by a professional and courteous wait staff in a room that would be in Paris or Lyon if it weren't on the Upper West Side. Our go-to restaurant for a pleasant meal in a convivial, if not peaceful, venue. There may be fancier French restaurants in New York, especially if you like precious dishes, but there aren't many make you feel like you're a neighbor friend the way The Luxembourg does.
I decided to treat myself to lunch and I was not disappointed! The service at Cafe Luxembourg is excellent - from the warm reception upon arrival to the professional waitstaff, I felt welcomed.
The lobster roll was delicious and the affogato was a nice finish to my meal.
Wait staff seemed to want to rush us out of the restaurant, trying to take our coffee cups and plates of food before we were finished. Portions were quite small, considering the price.
Excellent service - efficient and friendly. Food was delicious. Thank you!
Still the best hamburger in town we were late for a 1045 management called to confirm we were still coming our table is ready when we walked in
We attend a lot of theater and concert events near Lincoln Center and we appreciate that Cafe Luxembourg has always gotten us there on time, with a delicious meal and pleasant dining experience beforehand. We always regret if we haven't made our Luxembourg reservation on time because there is no better pre-theater dinner in town. Our family loves you Cafe Luxembourg!
Great food and they nicely accommodated a third person who joined us unexpectedly.
Our server was delightful, attentive and accommodating. My cappuccino got cold, so get kindly added some fresh hot coffee.
highly recommend for breakfast for quieter sounds, making conversation easier. Have been for dinner which is great for Bohemian-esque vibe, very lively.
The French onion soup is some of the best I have ever had. The special, swordfish, was perfectly done and had great accompaniments. We were running late after a show ran longer than we though and a train delay for our 11PM reservation; after arriving almost 15 minutes late we were welcomed as if we were on time. I did not know this was a sister of Cafe Cluny in the Village - that is a great restaurant as well. A great spot for a great meal if in the area.
I haven’t had a bad experience at Cafe Luxembourg in the 7 years I’ve been back in nyc. Food is consistently delicious. The staff is accommodating and lovely. It continues to be my go to place for my business meetings and friend visits.
One of my favorites ever
