Friendly staff, slightly inexperienced.
Very cool looking restaurant with nice layout and design, food was generally excellent. Short ribs and beignets wowed, fish dishes were tasty and well presented but did not stand out. Good wine list and suggestion from waiter. Overall a very good experience but slightly overpriced for the simplicity of the dishes.
Great variety in the breakfast buffet. I was so pleased to see so many non-breakfast choices. But the breakfast items were also there. And it was delicious.
The service sucks but the food is good.
Disappointing experience. We had high hopes for an amazing dinner, but it was all quite mediocre.
Everything about Butter was excellent--the food, service, and ambiance. Prices were about what to expect for upscale NYC, so really not much to complain about there. We had the veal bacon and cavatappi pasta with lamb sausage to start, and cant sing enough praises for both. For entrees we had the lobster risotto special and pan roasted branzino. Everything was extremely flavorful and we left stuffed. Alex, please never stop serving the Raspberry Beignets, they were mindblowing. We got to enjoy each course without being rushed in the slightest, even on a packed Saturday night, and really got to enjoy each course to its fullest.
A little difficult to find but what a gem! Food was delicious and entrees could easily be shared. Crunchy Brussel sprouts salad is a must! Wait staff are delightful and very accommodating! Great dinner in NYC and would definitely recommend and return!
The food was amazing and the service was top notch!
Cozy setting, attentive service, fabulous food! Raspberry beignets for dessert are a must!
This place was Awesome! Really cool set up and layout. Food was phenomenal.
Birthday celebration. Wait staff was very pleasant and attentive without being overly bearing
Excellent experience, especially the purple sharing cocktail for 2!
Wonderful service. Food was impeccable.
Absolutely fantastic as always. Food is spectacular, service and vibe are amazing. Favorite restaurant in the city- coming from a culinary student!
Cozy warm feeling as soon as we entered the restaurant. From beginning to end the service was on pointe. The crispy Brussels sprout and spinach salad was DELICIOUS. I could eat it every day! My husband had the octopus with squid ink pasta. Very good, as was the salmon and short rib entrees.
We were too full for dessert, but would love to go back and try one of each. They all sounded wonderful.
Awesome. Food was outstanding. Great atmosphere. Worth every penny
Great food and ambiance. Great value.
Wet disappointed in the Sunday brunch. Wait staff wanted to be anywhere but there. We were really
This is a fabulous restaurant with a wonderful ambiance, a caring staff, and an executive chef that rocks wonderful food. Chef Alex Guarnechelli has created along with Chef Michael Jenkins as executive chef a wonderful repast of small plates along with entrees to please every palate. From gnocchi Mac and cheese to duck breast with cherry sauce you can have anything your desires want at this restaurant.
First time to this beautiful restaurant. It really is beautiful inside. Dinner rolls that came we’re not soft and fresh; it seemed like they had been reheated a couple of times which was disappointing. Food was good, but perhaps a bit overpriced. I was expecting flavors to be a bit more vibrant. Our server was great, but never did thank us while we were on our way out. Perhaps the 20% tip wasn’t enough for him?
Visar might be the best server I have ever had. Food was spectacular! Appetizers are special. Steak was cooked to perfection. Foie gras prepared by Chef Michael was stunning.loved the beignets and dinner rolls
The food was good/fine, but the restaurant was loud. For the price, I was expecting more/better. With all the choices of delicious restaurants in NY, I would not go back there.
Amazing food, amazing service, and all together an amazing experience. I was a little late and they were super kind about it, honestly a fantastic dining experience. Worth every penny, get the raspberry beignets!!!
Incredible experience! Best T-Bone steak that I’ve ever had. Great service too. I would recommend to anyone looking to have the most enjoyable dining experience in NYC.
The food was quite good - bread & butter are amazing, cauliflower salad was a stand-out, and burger was fine. Good sides (crispy fries, chunks of pickle). Service was a problem. Server was pleasant enough, but he completely disappeared when they messed up the lunch delivery. Three out of 4 meals were served, and it took almost 15 minutes for the 4th entree to be delivered. We should have gotten an explanation, apology, or other compensation -- this was a business lunch and timing completely ruined the event. 4th guest did not have time to finish his meal and left before dessert. A complimentary plateful of beignets was brought along with the desserts - not the 'complimentary meal' that the server had suggested. In summary: food was good (at times excellent) but overall experience was very disappointing.
This was my second time at this restaurant. First experience was far below expectations, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and convinced myself they had an off night.
Second visit’s service was also sub-par, however. The waiter took 10 minutes to bring us a drink menu, then he tried to rush us into ordering drinks and dinner at once. After our meal was served, he did not return until it was time to order dessert. We would have ordered a second round of drinks mid-meal, but there was no server to be found.
Our meal was better this time than last time, but everything was still far too heavily sauced. I love assertive flavors but this was overkill. I dined with two others who said they found themselves trying to eat around the sauces on their plates too.
Sorry, two strikes is all I’m willing to go. There’s not enough good to bring me back again.
Excellent service and excellent food!
Excellent all around- favorites included the Dirty Dancing and Raspberry Beret, the cavatelli with lamb sausage, the octopus with squid ink pasta, and the short ribs.
Good food. Nice presentation.
Cauliflower salad excellent.
Not much input from waitress.
Noticed her being more informative with a couple. I could have ordered better selections with that input.
The space is nice and a good location but I thought the food was mediocre. I wouldn’t go back.
The space was really cool and the menu was small but mighty. We enjoyed our time and everything we got on the menu.
Prices were a bit high but felt we got value for our money. Was surprised we got there a little before 5:00 and the bar wasn't open to have a drink while we waited for our table. Service was excellent as they were attentive but not overbearing.
Atmosphere and food was perfect. Staff was super friendly and nice bar as well. Walking distance to the theater district so great for before or after a show. First visit and we would recommend.
I had brunch with my sister and a close friend. It was delicious. We had very comfortable seating and many options in the brunch buffet. Everything was delicious. Staff were very attentive and kind. It was a lovely experience!
A lovely spot for brunch. Great value and great food. Highly recommend!
The perfect restaurant, the food is amazing and the service is excellent. One of the best restaurants I ever been in the city!
I traveled there to celebrate my 50th birthday all the way from Albuquerque NM! I am a huge fan of Alex G! I love how she really understands food and how it really brings people together. She is not afraid to take risks and she is honest about herself and the recipes she creates. Alex, I want you to know that people like me really hear you and I appreciate who you are. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world!
Had a great time with family and friends. The food was amazing.
We had the restaurant week special menu. It was okay but not great.
Seriously if you have any hesitation about going here..just GO! Food was delicious and service was great!
We dined during restaurant week. I had never been to Butter before but had heard good things. Perhaps it was the restaurant week menu, but I felt the quality of the food was only ok. Service was fine. Not great but not bad. It has a cool vibe. Might try again for a regular meal.
