Great dinner, outstanding daily specials well presented by our server. Food was outstanding.
Ok, ICAG is an Iron Chef cause she is truly that food! I made arrangements to have a business dinner at Butter. My word the apps were mine blowing. We had all the cold apps and the “Mac and Cheese”. How do you make oysters taste better. Well let Alex provide the pop. I had to let everyone try my Bronzino cause yes it was just that good. The tobacco smoked pork chops, the short ribs were also outstanding. And yes tobacco smoked, who would have thought! On to desert.. the beignets were the best ever. New Orleans can be taught. The tiramisu was awesome. I had the short bread. Well, that surely was not what I mad with my Mom so many years ago. It was a flavor explosion. Texture and flavor outstanding. Needless to say we all shared cause it was just that good.
We were doubly blessed as Alex was able to stop by our table. And yes Alex is as fun to talk to as she seems on the food network.
I can only hope that Alex is Blessed in a mighty way. What a talented chef!
Oh and Wow. Meal to remember.
I have been to Butter a few times and the food is consistently very good. Bright flavors (this may have been a bit more of a summer type menu) and nice combinations of herbs, spices, and light sauces. I had the lunch prix fixe (a lovely, but small, fresh shrimp salad, a delicious sea bass on a light corn salad, and a spice bread/cake with a dollop of berry ice cream), which was a good deal. And I was there for a late lunch so the room was pretty empty, but it would be good for conversation or a work lunch.
Food is good. Service is not attentive. Noisy. Decoration is just ok.
Amazing food as expected. Arguably the best porkchop of my life and the cheesecake was incredible too.
Excellent from start to finish! The food is divine, the ambience is special, and the service is top notch.
Was so excited to try butter and it did not disappoint. Everyone’s meals were top shelf esp the beignets !
The food was excellent. My husband and daughter had different cuts of beef which they enjoyed. I had hazelnut ravioli which was wonderful. The service could be improved. We were kind of rushed along. Also, our server was very nice, but knocked over a full glass of water on our table and she seemed rather nervous and uncomfortable the entire time.
Great food, service, and atmosphere. Ample portions
In a nutshell, I found this place very standard. My food was ok but not remarkable. The appetizers were not exciting and dessert was disappointing. I will not go back.
This was an overall awful experience. A lunch reservation for people in suits in midtown is obviously a work lunch, so to be told that my clients and I have to wait until our entire party (one additional to make a total of four) arrives is ridiculous and embarrassing. Then to be told by a sloppy, young hostess that all of our orders need to be in and no additional orders can be made before we were even seated was outrageous. What kind of establishment is this? The entryway was filthy with stains on the carpet, and a tacky home improvement television show was displayed in the lobby.
The servers were confused. People in the entire section were receiving wrong orders, food was late, it was awful.
Never, ever again and I will actively discourage anyone in our firm to dine there.
First time at Butter. Meal was delicious! We ordered 3 different entrees...salmon, chicken, and the cauliflower. Each were cooked perfectly. The salmon was flaky and moist; the chicken was juicy and tender; the cauliflower was the surprise of the evening! If you like cauliflower, get this...the coconut flavoring was right on par. For dessert we shared the poached pears and the chocolate ganache covered shortbread...perfect balance of pears with the coconut ice cream and the shortbread tasted like a very rich, velvety Twix bar. Would definitely dine here again!
I go to Butter quite frequently but this was my first really bad, poor service, overpriced meal. Terribly disappointed.
Excellent and unusual food choices. Our waiter was the best!
Great atmosphere fun to order a variety off the menu and share with table
Everything was so, so delicious! The homemade rolls w sea salt were divine! The buratta salad as well as the tomato and watermelon salad were both fresh and yummy. We enjoyed our branzino and chicken entrees! 5 stars all around!
We were visiting NYC from out of town for a family member’s birthday. We were excited to celebrate at Butter; however, the experience was not great. We were told at arrival they would not be able to accommodate our 2 year old son with a high chair. The waitress advised we could have our two year old sit in the corner of a booth and that “most people don’t bring children to the restaurant.” The remark was a distasteful way to start off the evening, especially when we looked around and there were about 8 other children with their families in the restaurant. If you don’t want to accommodate families, make it known in advance. We even called ahead and confirmed with the hostess he would be accommodated. The food is good here but the service was terrible. Our waitress did not have familiarity with the menu and couldn’t answer basic questions. Not a great experience, and I couldn’t wait to leave this restaurant. Our family and son was so well taken care of at Cafe Boulud. Go spend your money there instead.
We were slightly disappointed with the portion sizes on 3 of the 4 dishes we ordered. I had the Branzino and I'm sorry but the dish was under seasoned and needed salt. I was shocked at that given the fact that the owner is on TV all of the time telling various contestants they need to add salt to their food. I shouldn't have had to ask for salt. ( I realize she doesn't actually do the cooking). It was my 50th birthday celebration with my husband and another couple and we enjoyed the restaurant itself. Comfortable seating and beautiful décor. The server was nice enough. The cocktails were good. The food was all good enough.. but nothing that said WOW! I did leave the restaurant knowing I would be hungry within two hours and I was correct.
The service was poor. We had a reservation at 5:15 and didn't receive our cocktail until almost 6:00. The food was mediocre for the most part. We ordered tiramisu for dessert and the lady fingers were hard, there was barely any cream, and there was an overabundance of what seemed like pulverized oreos. What a disgrace. The crispy duck wasn't crispy. The rosemary salt potatoes didn't have much if any rosemary and were not salt potatoes. We dined at 3 other Michelin star restaurants and paid significantly less for each of those meals that were significantly better on all fronts. Alex should disassociate herself from this restaurant!
The food was fabulous, the tobacco smoked pork chop was to die for. Our service was fabulous, Victoria was amazing. The whole experience was perfect!
Went for lunch and The food was ok nothing spectacular will try again for a dinner before I completely write it off
Butter came very highly recommended but was a real disappointment. The services started very slow and the waiter tried to rush our order. The food very very average, mine came out cold and my salad lettuce was wilted. We did come fairly late, 8:30, but that should not have resulted in our experience.
Fresh yummy food.
I had never experienced what the true flavors of food could be.
Octopus and squid ink pasta - the softest octopus and so flavorful.
Potato gnocchi with cheese - of my goodness; little pillows of flavor.
Tobacco smoked pork chops - incredible.
You know a place is good when you can enjoy in the moment and leftovers maintain the flavor and integrity of the dish.
Very attentive and professional staff.
Definitely a “bucket list” experience 👍🏻
Food was good and our server was very nice. However, the place is incredibly overpriced! Will not be going back!
Excellent fresh food and a very nice ambiance. A pleasant surprise close to the theaters.
Had an excellent meal at Butter. Unfortunately, did not get our waitresses name but she was awesome. I started with the Calamansi cocktail which was a refreshing mix of watermelon, vodka, mint and lime juice. The cavatappi pasta with lamb appetizer was excellent and more than enough to share between two people. The pre-meal bread looked like small loaves of bread with a focaccia like texture--yum! The Pan-seared Branzino and the Wild Salmon were excellent choices. We both like red wines, even with fish and we got an excellent recommendation for a very reasonably priced bottle of wine. We will go back
Our food and drinks were very good and we ordered about everything on the menu. However, the waitress was abysmal. Came by asked for order I said um...she said I’ll come back later, disappeared for 20”. Ordered drinks and again she disappeared without taking food order, repeat, etc. Even when ordering entrees disappeared before we could order sides, had to call someone else over to finish order. Same with dessert no coffee or tea. We were a group of 5 and eventually it became a joke to all of us. My friend who recommended the place and is a friend of the owner Alex, I texted asking if this was some kind of a joke/theme restaurant. He suggested speaking with the manager which I did and he said sorry but that was it. She wasn’t even the one to come take the final bill. I even considered not tipping she was that bad but the support staff was good and I felt bad for them. I do hope they get the tip and not her.
Usually, we love this restaurant and have been numerous times. This time we had less than satisfactory service. Our waitress continued to take away the wine/drink menu after we ordered and we had to keep requesting that she bring it back. She rarely came by to check on the food or if we needed anything, we had to keep waiving her down and the restaurant wasn't even half full. We asked if the cherry soda had alcohol in it (as we had a non-drinker at the table) and our waitress seemed annoyed when we verified. The straw that broke the camels back was we requested separate tabs at the beginning of the night, handed her our credit cards when the bill came and she ran the wrong cards to to each bill and then handed them back to the opposite person. Prices seem to have gone way up. It was $12 for a non-alcoholic soda yet $9 for a glass of rose. The food was excellent but the prices seemed very high. My husband and I split an appetizer, wedge salad, an ala carte pork chop, each had one glass of "house wine" at $16 per glass and it was $165 before tip. Probably won't be returning anytime soon.
Excellent service and food. So accommodating for us to love to bar and watch tennis after dinner.
Can’t wait to go back.
Good food, good service. Try the passion fruit Arnold Palmer.
We were inNYC to see Hamilton and had not decided on a place to eat after the show. We saw Alex on a show on TV and she mentioned "Butter". We were happy to make reservations on short notice and had a amazing time. The food was awesome. We would highly recommend "Butter".
I took my wife to Butter’s weekend brunch to celebrate her birthday. She had a great time and all of the food was delicious. We are the best wilted spinach with balsamic dressing we have ever had. Our wait staff was great and saw to all of our needs. It was a great experience and I would highly recommend it.
Butter was a fantastic experience. Our party had the pork chop and the branzino. Both were perfectly prepared and well-seasoned. We also had the grilled broccoli, which was grilled to perfection. It maintained its crunch and the balsamic was a wonderful pairing. Butter accommodated our very busy one-year-old by seating us at a large table. We appreciated their quick and courteous service. Our experience was great!
100% lived up to expectations. Every single bite was excellent!
We began our experience at the bar. Really nice cocktails and friendly bartender. Our waiter was great. We shared the steak special, it was cooked to a perfect medium rare and seasoned perfectly, seriously one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. I’ve been looking forward to coming to Butter for a long time and it exceeded my expectations!
Our dinner was early evening before a show. The drinks were delicious and the food was tasty and portioned just right. Server was fun and staff was very attentive. I will return.
One of the best meals we have had. Drinks were delicious too
Great server. Very personable and pleasant. We had an early 5:00 pm reservation and would have liked the Butter bar open earlier for a cocktail before we were seated. We went across the street to Valerie which was very nice.
Butter was a special place to celebrate our 50th Anniversary. It was our first time there and my wife purchased a cookbook! She loves Alex and wanted a photo in front of the restaurant!
The service at Butter was impeccable. The staff was well orchestrated, as was the food. Execution on the meal was beautiful and thoughtful and Chef Michael Jenkins is providing patrons an excellent and delicious experience through every course. Rachel was a lovely front of house person, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of dining at Butter.
