I have been here many times and the setting is always a surprise to guests I take there. The size, the columns, the gold, the live jazz, the ambiance and the value particularly if you stick to the set menu options.
This visit I've scored less simply because this item I chose the Halibut from the Luxe menu section. It was £26, one of the most expensive items on the whole menu but sadly had been overcooked. I know it is easy to do with fish but I hadn't expected that for a Luxe item where perhaps there is more skill, attention given.
I didn't return it though when the waitress at the end of the meal asked how everything was and I told her, she indicated I should have mentioned it and returned it. I'm confident they would have done so without hesitation so it was my reluctance to do so that left me with the less than usual experience.
It won't stop me going again or recommending this restaurant.
Good food and service, excellent value. Excellent location. Highly recommend.
The waitress was not very engaging and was actually quite abrupt and rude.
Great venue, used to be the Atlantic Bar and Grill for those that remember it! Loads better now... But the tables turn quickly, so don't expect a long sitting, but you can retire to the bar which is excellent!
Food was excellent as always. Lobster bisque dark and rich - but croutons were soggy. Sourdough baguette chewy, crispy and replenished frequently. Chicken liver pâté smooth which spread beautifully over the bread. Tasted various wines and love the long list by any size of vessel.
You know what you’re going to get here as the menu doesn’t change. Service was very patchy though which was disappointing. They forgot one of our desserts, had to ask for service on several occasions. Still worth it though!
As ever the atmosphere was pleasantly buzzy. This was enhanced later by the house band. Food was tasty and excellent value
Most dished requested were not available. One of us is vegetarian and the vegetarian menu is terrible. Choice between an omelette and a plate of leaves.
Great taste, lovely hospitality, talented musicians.
Deserts are brilliant
Great place to eat with amazing decor. Great for any time of the day with set menu prices for pre-theatre.
I continue to love an evening at Zedel, and as usual the food; drinks; atmosphere; and surroundings were second to none. Service is, sadly, slipping. The restaurant space seems increasingly chaotic/ badly managed and the waiters/ waitresses come across as if their customers are an inconvenience. I’ll keep going though, as overall it’s a great night out.
We have been to Zedel a few times and have always, apart for one occasion, found it to be very good. A great place to take visitors to the city. Food, service and atmosphere is really good.
For a pre theatre dinner, this is their perfect place. Great food and service which is good value
I would go back for the atmosphere but not for the food. The menu promised a lot but it never fully delivered: the quality and execution weren't too bad, they were just OK. I have to admit that other establishments would have charged more, so that's something in their favour.
Pre theatre birthday dinner
Service was friendly and attentive, interior is gorgeous, but my Breton fish stew for £19.75 was a massive disappointment. It was extremely small, not filling at all, and what’s worst, thoroughly underwhelming.
I had to eat half the bread basket to at least fill up a little.
Went to lunch for my Uncle’s birthday. Food was excellent as always plus they brought out a slice of chocolate cake with “Happy birthday” at the end - a wonderful surprise!
Had a nice meal but the Prawn Cocktail was not as nicely served as usual
Normally in a large glass with a couple of gambas with the small prawns- this time - no couple of large prawns and seemed like mostly lettuce.
Apart from that - other courses and soups lovely!
The server was very attentive and informative. The food was lovely. But I am afraid I have give the lower rating because of the poor locations of tables we were offered. Using Open Table to make a reservation far in advance, I would have expected the restaurant would reserve a good table for our party of four, perhaps even a banquet booth. But unfortunately, they showed us to the table right next to the kitchen/clearing station where the traffic from wait staff and noise from the staff gathering glassware and cutlery, clearing plates made it impossible to be heard. I asked for another table and they offered another table but it was effectively the second worst table, next to the stage where the piano player was playing. Thankfully, he stopped playing about ten minutes into our meal and we were able to enjoy conversation the rest of the meal.
Really, this is not the first time I have used Open Table and been offered the worst table in a restaurant. I don't know if I will use the app going forward if this is the treatment we will get as a matter of course.
Beautiful lunch in the middle of Piccadilly Circus, Art Deco interior transforms you to another era. Excellent customer service and attention to detail. Thank you and see you soon!
Excellent food, wine, atmosphere and customer service! Can't wait to go back again!
Always enjoy coming here and so do our granddaughters, aged 9 and 11.
Food was good as always, and there is a wide selection. Really nice venue - have been before and will come again.
Service could have been better on this occasion - had to ask for vegetarian and wine menus three times before they appeared, yet they still added on 15% service which I think is a bit excessive
Always a good bet bit of a tourist trap but a good atmosphere with a live band too. I wish they would change to a smaller menu so cumbersome on the table!
The interior is an amazing Belle Epoque wonder, but this place is more than just a pretty face. Wonderful traditional French bistro food, excellent service. In general a terrific find. We'll certainly visit again next time we're in London.
Cannot rate high enough. An amazing experience from start to finish
Unique decor and excellent French food!
Everything here was amazing full gluten free menu great service
Duck massively overcooked
We had a beautiful, moderately priced lunch in a wonderful setting. This will definitely be on our itinerary the next time we are in London. Excellent experience all round and the waitress could not have been more attentive!
We had to ask for the menu and then get a waiter's attention to order. Service improved slightly later on. The prices were good, but the food was pretty standard. Would go back now I know at what level to set my expectations.
The restaurant was recommended to us by a friend but it was disappointing. It was quite noisy & while the decor was pleasant, the paper table cloths & worn cutlery let it down! The service was ok although our vegetables arrived some time after the main. It is obviously a popular venue as it was busy but we wouldn’t go back. 15% service charge was a bit steep even compared to much better venues!
Excellent food and service, very good value. Great for a pre-theatre meal. A bit noisy when it filled-up.
Quirky, really slow service, pretty good food. Good choice for the location.
Bright and buzzing , regal Parisian atmosphere with live music... very enjoyably French.... food cooked and presented to perfection....and tasty and top quality.... enjoyed everything including the service very much.. thanks
Fabulous room, very traditional Paris brasserie style and food. Despite checking on arrival what time we needed to be away to get to theatre, service was slow particularly initially (had to ask twice for menus and water) and main course rather rushed but tasty.
The rom is the main thing. Spectacular, Parisian Art Deco on a grand scale. A knockout which raises the spirits as soon as you enter. Tables are tightly packed, so it’s not quiet by then the prices are very good value for excellent brasserie cooking. We had delicious cocktails, a mix of plays div jour, a fixed price menu and done a la carte. All thoroughly enjoyed. The chicken Normande— a Wednesday special— was particularly good. Sides of frites and broccoli with almonds also. Ile flottante declared unusually good by one of the party. A very good and sharp lemon meringue pie...
Superb as always.
The food was excellent but sadly the service not so good. My drink didn’t turn up until after the meal and then they brought the wrong thing. It was quick overall though for a pre theatre meal and was enjoyed just a bit annoying about the drink mix up. We also had a discount voucher which we had to request for them to apply more than once.
Great service. The waitress was very nice.
Took my wife and two children for lunch at Zedel! The venue was beautiful and felt grand. The service was great with a large selection in French dishes. My 8 yr old and 4 yr old couldn’t settled on anything but fries from the menu and sadly there were no children’s menus.
