The food, ambiance, and service were good. I plan on returning!
Took about 15 mins to figure out who our server was. Tables crammed together inside despite COVID. Some staff not wearing masks at all or properly. Food and drink presentation were below what we expected for the price. Felt rushed when someone tried to clear our plate of oysters with a half dozen left to eat, honest mistake but everything seemed fast paced when someone spoke with us or came by our table. We decided to leave after ordering oysters and a round of drinks to find another restaurant to order more food. In the current circumstances I would not go back.
Not covid friendly - most staff including the owner / manager, bartenders and bud boys not wearing a mask or have them pulled down for chin guards
Less than stellar food, service, and Covid safety protocol (staff not consistently wearing masks in kitchen/hostess stand)
Would highly recommend food was great service was very good
We had such a great time! Got a kettle pot with lobster crab and shrimp- really good! Manhattan clam chowder is amazing! Thank you for a wonderful dinner!
Great food - just had my leftovers for lunch! Can’t wait to go again.
Food and service were excellent as always!
Everything was good but we went for the pasta with clams and it’s off the menu!! Hopefully it will be added on back. Otherwise good food- good service- a bit loud!
The Bonney Read is one of my go to Restaurants
Always great service Always great food.
My only regret though I understand, out of necessity in these trying times for restaurants they changed the menu.
I missed the Linguine and clam sauce.
The Bonney Read’s was probably the BEST I have ever eaten.
First time here! Omg what a great meal! Service good. Only issue was the noise level. Will definitely go back again!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Bloody Mary really good!!
This is our favorite restaurant in asbury park
I had no complaints during my visit. Great food and great service.
Great cocktails and good food selections. We chose multiple appetizers rather than entrees and they were very satisfying. Didn't try anything on the raw bar, but saw many enjoying selections from it.
Birthday celebration and family time. We come here often and love it for anytime
Great experience every time I go there
It may have been an off night for the service but it was all over the place. I had the chicken sandwich , chicken itself was excellent but the bun was stale . We have eaten there a few times . This was just a bad night I am assuming l
My boyfriend are never disappointed when you go! Consistency in food and service! Out go to place in Asbury!
Want oysters??? Then look no further. Get over to the Bonney Read. Great drinks and food in a cool restaurant in a cool place.
Food took forever. Some of it cold, lobster roll, worst I’ve had. Never going back, just a really average place, with prices too high for the quality of food.
Very good drinks fresh oysters excellent salmon!
Awesome as always! Great to be back.
Definitely I'll go again
Always delicious and fresh seafood. Big portions, too. Nice and friendly service from our server Melanie, a newcomer for the season. Great to be back and happy to see them back open. Congrats to James, Sebastian, Tom and team! One of our favorites in Asbury Park.
Excellent as always!
Great options- we had mostly raw bar items and the fish fry...all excellent. Drinks are amazing and not a light pour;). Service was attentive but not a bother. Fun atmosphere, but super safe and we felt very comfortable.
They just reopened and have eaten here twice in the past week. Excellent menu, interesting craft cocktails and everything executed gracefully. Kids enjoyed the kids' menu, oysters were top notch and fish of the day.
$175 dollar lunch for 3. Restaurant is in a great location food is fair in quality and portions are average maybe less than average for price. Coleslaw side was about 2oz, potatoes were two small slices potatoes, corn was one ear. Food was poorly presented from the kitchen and the timing for appetizers and drinks was off so one of our guests sat with nothing to eat while others ate their soup. The waitress was terrible the nicest people in the restaurant were the busboy and girl. Another person in the restaurant had a dog on her lap for her meal inside the restaurant which was disturbing. We live nearby but for this price point it was the last time and straw we won't be back.
Server was friendly. Food was delicious and arrived in a timely fashion. Staff wore masks and tables were spaced well for social distancing.
Love the rum flights!!
Food is great-get the whitefish dip! so good but I wish they would serve it with bread not little crackers But they charge for a small plate of bread-which seems a little bit much That being said -the food is amazing -especially the cajun shrimp kettle
Pleasant outdoor dining experience in Asbury Park. The street in front of the restaurant is closed, so there were no cars driving by to add noise and fumes, which was great. My wife and I went there for our anniversary dinner and we were not disappointed. Food was excellent. We started with the jumbo shrimp cocktail, which was great. Large, plump, tender shrimp that was not overcooked or tough. For my main course I had the linguini with clams which I highly recommend. Whole clams in the shell and delicious pancetta were great touches. My only complaint is that it didn't come with any bread to soak up the amazing broth. I asked for some and our waiter said she would bring me an order of the bread they provide with the mussels. I suggest they make that a regular addition, but in case they don't, you should definitely ask for it. My wife was bummed because they ran out of the NY Strip, but her caesar salad with grilled shrimp was very tasty. Good beer and cocktail selections and great service rounded out the enjoyable experience nicely. All in all, if you're looking for a great casual dining experience in Asbury Park, you can't go wrong with Bonney Read!
We had a great time on a moderate weathered November evening outside at Bonney Read. The closed to traffic street was bustling which made for a cosmopolitan, festive atmosphere...there were no heaters so luckily it stayed warm enough. It's great how the street is roped off so the foot traffic steered clear. The highlight of the evening was the cocktails! One especially, made with Beet Juice, Tequila, Ancho Reyes and sugar...just outstanding! There was a good variety of great food selections on the menu, nothing too adventerous, which made choosing dishes to order a pleasant challenge and all were served good and hot, with excellent preparation ...yummy. Our server Connie was delightful and beamed from behind her mask. All safety protocols were follwed. Word of warning: we thought $15 for a half dozen market priced middlenecks to be a little steep. Shoud've asked...nevertheless, our second time there, will return.
We had a great Time at Bonney Read. I had the Lobster Bisque and Fish Tacos (Made With Haddock) the slaw was delish. They have a Season Rumpkin Cocktail - Rum and Pumpkin Liqueur- it was so good. My friend grew up in New England and he said the Clam Chowder was a 9 out of 10!
The quality of the food didn't match the price. The server was sweet, but didn't seem like she'd tried a lot of the food/wasn't great at making recommendations. The guy working the raw bar had no mask on, and no mask anywhere in visible sight. It was the first restaurant we've been at in a really long time, and it was a 5/10 experience.
Good location, good service, decent food at a reasonable price.
This was an outdoor COVID experience so may not be relevant long term. We were very disappointed as we were told this was among the best in AP. The food was good but not great and on the high side price wise. The service was substandard. When you have to go to the hostess to ask for ketchup things are bad. Will not be back. Go to Pascal and Sabine instead.
The food is always spectacular and the drinks are excellent. Love the atmosphere and the place itself is a nice place to hang out at in general. Only qualm is that it’s extremely expensive for what you are getting. I paid for dinner for 10 people in downtown toms river and it was $139 for the group. There were 4 of us at Bonney Reed for lunch and it was over $250 with much less ordered. I understand we are paying for the location and great food but it’s just a shock sometimes. Not gonna stop me from coming back though! Love this place.
Very nice to be able to reserve outdoor seating after months of ordering in for date night.
Food was excellent. No problems with service or food. Everything was how it should be. Great drinks also.
Waitress was lovely and food was delicious!
