Boccone South is my husband's and my favorite restaurant! The food is scrumptious, the service impeccable and the owner Silvio is a warm and charming host. The bread pudding desert is to die for!
Attentive service, delicious food priced right. What more could you want??? The halibut was delish and the special monkfish over mango salsa was very good. The veal and chicken parm dishes were plentiful and prepared well. For dessert, we had the bread pudding, chocolate peanut butter gelato; both were outstanding. Because the buildi9ng was sold and the restaurant has to move soon, it is South Orange's loss and Short Hills' gain.

I have been going to Boccone South any time I have tickets at SoPAC because they have several dishes that I really like. I am sorry that they are moving from this location, but they are evidently opening up another location in Summit. The food is good and the service is attentive. It is, though, BYOB.

Good as always. We’ve been going to Boccone’s for over 5 years. Our friends and family always request that we go Boccone’s for dinner. The service, quality and presentation of the dishes are always excellent. Our usual server Nicole, knows what we like, we almost order as Nicole know. BROVO

Delicious as always! It was PACKED however, we had a reservation and sat right away. When leaving at 10 pm there was still a line of people waiting to be sat. Worth the wait in my opinion. I had rigatoni carbonara and my friend had short ribs which were incredible.
Great meal at a good price. The owner is engaged with each table to a degree he is worth the price of the meal alone. We went the day after Valentines Day. Was packed but we were taken care of well.
I took off for Valentines Day 2020 to take my wife and friends out on 2/15/20. Went on Open Table and nothing was available at 7pm in Maplewood, Chatham, Madison, or Summit. I tried South Orange and again, nothing available except Boccone South. Every time slot was open! I through caution to the wind and booked 7pm. Upon arrival I could see the staff was a wreck. They finally sat us down in-front of the front doorway. They got one of our orders wrong and the Clams Casino was NOT good. All the prices were about the same.($20.00-$28.00) I ordered the Special Chilean Sea Bass and they clocked me over the head for $42.00. Not worth it at all -Money Grab Now I know why all their time slots were open on Open Table.
My wife and I had a great Valentine's Day evening and the dinner and our waitress was great!!! We look forward to returning back again!

Great food, great service, the specials were very overpriced..... pasta special was $35.. not in line with menu pricing. I would go back but be careful of the specials.

Every meal is a lovely experience. We especially love sitting at a table where Nicole is the waitress. Her description of every dish is outstanding!
We have been here many times and usually love it. Last night was disappointing - arrival with reservations they seemed overwhelmed with parties arriving - waitress lovely. Food was good but not usual quality - Milanese was dry, fettuccini special pasta nothing special. Hope they figure out management.

Had to wait for 25 minutes after our reserve time. Seated people without reservations before us. What’s the point of having a reservation. Get it together. Everything else was great.

Dinner was great, as always. The service was fine, but the front desk was a little scattered and couldn't find our reservation. I had the confirm, so there were no worries, but still, I know they take reservations, and the restaurant was really crowded when we were there. We'd go back.
I would 100% recommend Boccone South to a friend and almost do every chance I get! From the atmosphere to the great menu it's hard to figure out what my favorite part of this restaurant is. I've had quite a few servers when there but the two that stand out were Silvo (I believe he is the owner!) and Nicole. However, no matter who you encounter working there you will get A+ service! And the food. My god the food is good. I have never left so satisfied. I've had quite a few dishes here but the pasta is always my favorite. This past time I did rigatoni carbonara and it was out of this world! You cannot go wrong with anything on the menu though! Very reasonably priced for the large portion you get and also a BYOB which I think makes it even more worth it. If you go on a weekend I would suggest making a reservation. I also heard they may be closing and switching locations so go before the end of march if you have not been! I will absolutely be back.

Great local Italian food. Go a few times and the owner Sylvio will treat you like royalty. Not cheap but excellent value for the quality. Beautiful presentation, large portions, BYOB.
Quiet intimacy with incredible service! Every bite a delight. Prawns with mango were perfectly prepared . Chicken au jus stuffed with prosciutto and Italian cheese was mouth watering . I wish I could have one more bite. Topped off with with warm bread pudding and gelato. A neighborhood gem that never disappoints.
Ready for us at 6:00PM and got us out by 7:45PM for SOPAC performance without rushing.
Coat check person was very prompt and helpful.
Specials for the evening were all interesting and inviting.
Service very good without hovering.
Food very good. Olive oil with roasted garlic and warm bread on the table was enjoyed by all (butter on table as well).
Complimentary dessert of Italian bread pudding with gelato was terrific.
No complaints so we will return.
Wonderful meal and especially wonderful server.... I’ll follow them wherever they go...
