Bocca Di Lupo
We specialise in the obscure and the delicious highlights of food and wine from all across Italy's twenty regions. If we can make something ourselves, we do - gelati, breads, sausages, salame, pickles, mostarda, and pasta of course - the rest is carefully sourced from Italy. A selection of Italian wines and home-made and imported foods is available for delivery, along with our famous gelato, from Gelupo.
Thank you...we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch for two at the bar. Loved the 'small' options.
Very lively place with an excellent and unusual menu with regional Italian dishes good as sharing plates. Not a place for a quiet restful evening but good for post theatre by which time most of the other diners were very loud. They kindly offered us a table tho' the only option on-line had been the counter, though i like that too - watching it all cooked right in front of you. The desserts look good but had ordered too much earlier! The plates are generous.
We sat at the bar to eat which had a great atmosphere. The service was super efficient without making us feel rushed and the waiter gave us good advice in relation to what size plates to order and which wine. The food was beautifully cooked and it was nice to share all the plates. The only reason we haven't given the food five stars was that we found the langoustines slightly disappointing. But the ravioli was out of this world.
What a fabulous restaurant. We had a wonderful meal, great service. Will definitely recommend and will be coming again (and again).
Romantic and atmospheric. The perfect pre show meal.
Fantastic food and lovely atmosphere, would definitely visit again
Restaurant is nice but very chaotic
Bocca is one of my favourite places but this visit lacked something. The food was not quite as tasty as previously. Good, not great
Excellent evening all supported by attentive and professional staff
Great food as ever. Professional and responsive team
Superb food but the restaurant staff made a very big issue out of us needing to take no longer than 2 hours and rushed us through the whole thing. No time for an aperitif and no time to linger at the end over coffee. That is ok if you are not paying £80 per head.
Absolutely delicious food, ideal for sharing which means you get to try a great selection of wonderful small plates. Went for a birthday lunch with friends and we all decided we will celebrate there again next year!
Early dinner after a show with 3 small plates, squid, scallop risotto, and polenta with wild boar. All excellent. Service good and enjoyed it all.
Great restaurant. Food was fabulous and a great value. I did feel a little rushed sitting at the bar.
I will be back.
Single dinners are seated at the counter, where the seats are too low. But that's the only downside here: the food is fantastic, the wines by the glass great, and the staff pretty good at paying attention in a busy space. Noise level is high.
Bocca Di Lupo was an excellent choice for dinner, the food was delicious and the service was lovely. If you’re lucky you will catch Carolina who was immensely helpful when it came to the menu or any other needs we had.
Delicious food, attentive service, lively atmosphere (not a quiet, getting to know you, first date spot). Do yourself a favor and sit at the counter on the chefs end. The Roman Tripe is exquisite. Frito misto selections also top notch.
Omg - the pasta is to die for
Excellent food and atmosphere, good service thanks
Food was extremely good as was the service, would definitely eat here again!
After booking my reservation, I called Bocca di Lupo (which I've previously really enjoyed) to ask if they could accommodate gluten free. The person on the phone confirmed that we would have at least 6-7 choices and that they would make a note on our reservation. When we arrived there was no information and our waitress showed up with bread for the table, but that's not an issue just an illustration of the lack of them actually noting the reservation. When we went over the menu with the waitress she ended up highlighting 4 items that we could eat and one of them had contamination risk so that was out of the question for me. For a high-end restaurant in central London in 2020 to not have better options for allergens and not to even bother to try and be accommodating is ridiculous and unacceptable. We should have been told not to come in if the restaurant couldn't actually accommodate gluten free dining.
UPDATE: The manager of Bocca Di Lupo left a voicemail (presumably to discuss this review) and upon returning his call I was told to call back the next day...this happened twice before I decided it wasn't worth my time. It seems like the staff is out of touch with how proper customer service works.
The food and service at Bocca Di Lupo are always excellent and never disappoint. It serves seasonal dishes and there are always a few surprises which ensures fresh ingredients and an ever-changing menu so you never get bored. Definitely my fave Italian restaurant in London.
But sit at a normal table, the bar is too cramped and not comfortable.
Always a treat to go to Bocca di Lupo. Fantastic food, good wine selection and very welcoming service. Although the tables are close together, they are arranged so you can enjoy your party’s conversation without being overwhelmed by any other noise. The cannoli abs affogato were so good we skipped our planned stop for London’s best gelato at their sister store across the street
Possibly my favourite London restaurant for all the above reasons
Was recommended this place a lot but a bit disappointed. The pasta we ordered were tiny and sticky. Not much decoration or taste and not much in the plate... same for the cake... very tiny slice. Overpriced.
We never got our change. The manager was very fiendly tho. Not amazing as we excepted
had a late lunch, so little quieter restaurant. service not rushed despite being closing time, enjoyed all we ordered (except for pigeon) which was squid, lemon pasta, salt baked sea bream and polenta - really yummy. also had cannolis with coffee - both great. entertaining waitress and chatty chefs, will be back.
Not easy to have working lunch due to noise but service and food are very good value for money
Great, as ever
The food is AMAZING, the vegetarian options are sooooooooo delicious, their wet polenta is to die for, the service is great, the wine list fantastic. I love the place. And for London prizes is extremely sensible.
One of the best meals in London! Outstanding! Grazie!
Very average Italian food. Not the best! Expected a bit more.
Having heard and read a lot of good things about this place, we weren't particularly blown away by the quality of the food in the context of the restaurant's price bracket. This place has been open for a few years now and since then, a lot of places in London have opened which have significantly raised the stakes in the small plates dining game. This place is tries to be all things to all people, but doesn't do any of them fantastically well.
They take reservations but also have walk-ins for the counter. The menu is laid out fairly typically for an Italian restaurant, i.e. small bits and starters (which can be ordered in small and large plates) followed by pasta (i.e. primi) and then bakes and stews (in the fashion of 'secondi').
The real faux pas of the evening was that after having told the waiter that we didn't eat pork, he omitted to tell us that the partridge we had ordered came covered in bacon. Instead, as he brought it over and he recalled what we had told him, we spotted him hurrying back and re-emerge with the dish without the bacon but with no comment that the dish actually had bacon on it. In fact we weren't told until we specifically queried this fact - having spotted the dish on another table with bacon. Instead the waiter claimed our one never had bacon (!).
Finally, as is always the trouble with two seatings per table over the course of an evening (which has sadly become the norm across a lot of restaraunts in the capital these days with rising rents), if one books anything before 8.30pm one always feels harried by the staff as much as they attempt to do so as dicretely as possible. Subtle noises that they want your table back become increasingly apparent once you've polished off your mains. The real skill of course is in how this message is delivered, whether or not it is explicitly stated and sadly this place hasn't quite mustered the tact and discretion (we were asked no less than four times what we had decided to do for dessert).
Brilliant authentic Italian food and wine from all the Italian regions
There isn’t many options for vegetarians and the one option that the waiter highly recommended tasted of nothing but salt. Starters were average.
love it here. but please watch the salt - had the orchiette with rapini twice and it's been exceptionally salty both times.
We went with friends for a pre theatre meal. We were all really pleased with the food we ordered - lovely small plates and then larger mains. The squid, anchovies and liver were particularly good. Nice value wine as well. Friendly service.
Best Italian in London. Food and service always excellent. Love Bocca!
Delicious authentic Italian food and wine! The ambiance is really elegant, ideal for a date as well as a dinner with friends.
Can’t rate this place highly enough. Fantastic all round. Excellent food, wines and service in a fabulous atmosphere
