The Boaters Inn is situated on the Thames in the beautiful Canbury Gardens, just a ten minute walk from central Kingston. We feature a riverside beer garden that also backs directly onto the park and a quiet sunset balcony. The interior is a mix of classic and contemporary with a 65 seat riverside raised dining area opposite the bar and a smaller dining space by the back garden.

Nice views of the river, but rowdy at times and food was overpriced for the quality. Aperol spritz was mostly soda water.

The food and service was amazing but the noise factor was so load not easy to have a chat. I would go again but in a party of 4+.

We sat outside by the river on what was the hottest day of 2019. It was idyllic! Food very tasty and definitely one up from pub food. Service slow but then they seemed very understaffed for such a busy, sunny Saturday. They managed to stay polite and friendly rather than abrupt, which was good. Would definitely recommend.

The setting is really amazing, a warm day, windows open onto the water. The food that we all had was fantastic. Best Fish and Chips i have had in a long time, and the beer and the wine were ice cold. We will definitely be back again.

I think its great location has made it complacent. The food is very average, and it's overpriced.

We made a reservation for Father’s Day dinner. The restaurant is lovely, set along the river. The ambiance is lovely, and I wish I could have more to complement our experience there. The food took awhile to come out, and my duck (ordered duck for Sunday roast) was over cooked. It was completely well done. It took ages for the wait staff to bring our son’s ice cream. I’m almost certain they just had to scoop it into a bowl?!?! Anyhow, the bill came quickly and there was a lovely gift bag with beer for my husband as a Father’s Day gift. All in all, our experience was good. We will definitely give it another go, and hope that it was just a busy night and that next time will be better.

Poor quality food. Roast beef cold and stringy. Roast potatoes lack flavour and not cooked fully. Dessert served not matching the description on the menu.
Over priced for what we got.
Slow service and no apology for slowness.
Very noisy

We went for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was rather too noisy for my liking. In my opinion, nice place for a drink (overlooking river) but not a meal. Some of the items on the menu were not available, although we weren't told this until we asked for them. So then we had to quickly choose something else.
My duck was hard to cut and chew. The curry was very spicy. We had to chase up our coffee and tea orders at the end. No mention or acknowledgement of birthday. Shame!

Nice place mainly.for the view

Service was rude as she could not accommodate us even if I clearly booked for the number of people that turned out, she was annoyed at me and didn not spare a smile
She was also rude about the pram taking to much space, even though noone else was sitting next to us yet
my baby was sleeping I explain and when she is up I will for sure move her out and in the high chair
Hers was not s family friendly response

The other girl that came to take the orders was clearly been told of the situation and was frosty at first than warmep to us..

It's the first rule.of service to make the client happy, I know this well as its also my line of business and they clearly have not been told this important principle

Food was ok and the main beauty of the boaters Inn is the location

Great evening with a super jazz quartet. Pub food which was very good, service efficient and very friendly, noise level high - as you would expect for a jazz evening - and very pleasant atmosphere with a lovely location next to the River Thames.

The place by the river was amazing, with a beatiful garden outside and a terrace just in front of the riverside. The food was very lovely. Just a recommendation for the service, they need to look after better to the customers because we were looking for them many times but they were somewhere else busy, not in our section. After all I recommend anyway this place. It deserve a lot.

Its such a shame that the Service in this pub doesn't not match the location the view and the food.

This is the 2nd time my family has opted to have a celebratory meal only to be left disappointed by the lack of prompt service - we had been there close to 2 hours before the main courses arrived. The excuse we were given is that other people had arrived between us getting our starters and as a consequence we had dropped down the list. On the basis we had young children AND we had booked ahead (these others did not) this was far from an acceptable excuse.

In short .. If you're in no hurry .. I'd recommend it, as in all other regards I can offer little complaint only praise.

This was our third visit to Boaters, and it will be our last. We're vegetarian and they had run out of vegetarian options. I say 'options', but in fact there was just the one vegetarian dish on the menu, and there was none left. Luckily we occasionally eat fish. What we chose was excellent. Took them ages to clear the tables. The table next to us had to take their own used plates back to the bar. There were 2 people serving that evening - ample for the amount of customers - but one was called away to serve at the bar, and the other sat at a table folding napkins. Luckily the music saved the night - a superb band.

Sunday lunch with beautiful view of the river so recommend the setting! Lunch menu reasonable.
Burnt Yorkshire puddings- brought more when asked but shouldn’t have served them when so clearly blackened. Cauliflower cheese- uncooked Cauliflower / no cheese - watery milk sauce so inedible.
Roast meat and veg very tasty otherwise
Service friendly but too stretched at this busy and so slow that after the mains had problems we went elsewhere
Disappointing altogether

Reasonable food at slightly strange prices. Really over priced mains, good value starters and desserts. Slow service, live music that lasted about an hour and ended before 9.30???? Restaurant empty by then too, despite advertising as Sold Out.

I’m a regular here and this was stand out a massive let down. Our table wasn’t ready, it was sticky and filthy when we finally did get to sit down (after they found some chairs), no table service, a passerby spilt a pint down my friend’s back- we cleaned it up ourselves, mains didn’t come as ordered, nobody checked in with us to see how our meal was - it was an absolute let down as I was hosting friends and had talked up the place. I never write negative reviews but this was every inch of awful. Customer service needs to be pushed up on the training agenda.

Came to the boaters for a celebration meal , service isn’t brilliant there seems to be a lack of proper customer service the waitresses tend to hide at the tills , food it’s hit an miss roasts very good except potatoes were a little hard as if they sit under a lamp in batches and the burger was over cooked , ambience is very noisy which could be expected. Expensive food and drinks . Used to be better
