Nice ambiance, good service although the food came out so quickly it was clearly pre-prepped. It didn't feel value for money this time around the a small menu with predominately heavy, beige food differed from out last visit in the summer.
Both my dad and I had to send our fish back as it was off. We also were the only table in the pub and it took 40 mins to get our drinks order... will not return!
Lovely setting and very nice food. One of our party has a food intolerance, which was catered for in a serious manner leaving us confident that she was safe to eat the food served. I would recommend a visit for food or drink, lovely spot!
There was a small mistake in the bill- the price of kids meal was incorrect. There was no apology when this was rectified, however the meal itself was good- we all had different roasts on Sunday.
A very nice place to meet up with friends and family, summer or winter. Food and service were excellent, complimented by a good selection of beer.
Beautiful location and views, this river side pub and restaurant has excellent drinks selection, good food and good service. There is a park next to it and they have River Side seats as well.
Boaters is perfect for those who want to have a few beers or gnts by the riverside with a few friends and chat and /or watch a match. It is a traditional pub, but a really good one, quaint deco, and not loud.
Service is exceptional and staff is very polite and helpful. The only tip id give is book before hand and do it over the phone.
We were served quickly and the food was excellent. All in all a great service. Would return!
I think they were having an off-day on Saturday, possibly overwhelmed by an unexpected sunny day and an in-flux of customers. Bar staff were incredibly surly and frustrated and that showed in their demeanor and service-levels. The food was the worst I've had at the Boaters - average at best. The evening staff were lovely when they took over.
The Boaters is a a lovely riverside location, and the service was excellent, however the food let us down on the busy Sunday we went. The starters were all quite good, but the roasts were served with bland and watery cauli cheese and raw parsnips. The meat and gravy were both good but when you're paying these prices you expect a bit better. Both sides were taken off our bill.
Lovely meal with family food cooked to perfection staff attentive but not too pushy plus river view will definitely book again and only on my doorstep
Our visit coincided with a birthday party attended by children who because of lack of parental supervision were somewhat disruptive to customers and clients. Not as enjoyable as it should have been.
We had a nice table with views over the Thames. The starters were very nice (squid species and arancini) and the main were all wonderful. Our waiter, Bahooz, took very good care of us, checking in to be sure that we had everything we wanted. Overall, it was a great lunch. We live close by and come to the Boaters often - it's a great asset to have such a good restaurant so close.
When in Kingston, visit here for a drink and/or food. Gorgeous setting and the food is very delicious, fresh and exceeded expectations.
Amazing Sunday roast.
Friendly and attentive service in a lovely location by the river. Food a bit variable - the sole was not great but other dishes were fine and decent sized portions.
Really great evening. Graham Dee and his band were outstanding
Nice family meal by the river.
Very relaxed and staff were lovely
Booked a table for two on a Sunday for a roast dinner. The meal unfortunately tasted like it was made the day before with chewy dried up roast potatoes and lack lustre furnishings with bland gravy. Also, The meal came to us super quick and the wine was forgotten so had to reorder. Overall a good experience and stayed for the evening for the amazing jazz music.
Excellent Sunday lunch, friendly staff and a perfect setting. But the music inside was too loud for our taste, and it was even louder out in the garden.
If all you want is a beer and a park bench near a river this is a good venue. If you actually want to eat then I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
It’s a nice setting for the venue. That’s the positives done.
During our visit:
We waited 30 mins for a child’s meal, then over an hour for 3 burgers to follow that.
When it arrived the chips were good; the rest was overcooked.
They didn’t have various wines on the menu
The toilets were broken (they double as the public loos for the neighbouring park)
A very belated explanation and apology was offered, after we had complained very vocally. To be clear, the kitchen team was churning out lots of food, but the front of house team was in no way managing the expectations of customers. Needs training and new management.
Oh ... and more as FYI than a criticism they only do a canteen service if you want to sit outside; go collect your own food from the service hatch when summoned by the buzzer.
Overall this venue managed to fall short of my already low expectations and in so doing ruined a low key birthday celebration.
We came to the Boaters Sunday to listen to the music - the music was outstanding and one must pinch oneself and remember it is free !
We eat to get a seat and didn't expect much but the food was very good , spicy salad was delicious as was the tuna - reasonably priced and added to a very good evening !
Nice views of the river, but rowdy at times and food was overpriced for the quality. Aperol spritz was mostly soda water.
The food and service was amazing but the noise factor was so load not easy to have a chat. I would go again but in a party of 4+.
Another amazing Sunday lunch courtesy of The Boaters. Thank you!!
Lovely setting by the river. We as vegans were so impressed with the options! My daughter had vegan fish and chips, tofu with seaweed in batter delicious! I had the beetroot patty burger, wonderful, with great triple cooked chips.
Lovely food, good service, lovely pub, spot on location by the river.
we brought our friend from Spain who was very impressed with the food, especially the padron peppers.
Really lovely friendly staff who accommodated our needs.
An Amazing evening listening to Jackie Hicks and her jazz band
We sat outside by the river on what was the hottest day of 2019. It was idyllic! Food very tasty and definitely one up from pub food. Service slow but then they seemed very understaffed for such a busy, sunny Saturday. They managed to stay polite and friendly rather than abrupt, which was good. Would definitely recommend.
The setting is really amazing, a warm day, windows open onto the water. The food that we all had was fantastic. Best Fish and Chips i have had in a long time, and the beer and the wine were ice cold. We will definitely be back again.
I think its great location has made it complacent. The food is very average, and it's overpriced.
We made a reservation for Father’s Day dinner. The restaurant is lovely, set along the river. The ambiance is lovely, and I wish I could have more to complement our experience there. The food took awhile to come out, and my duck (ordered duck for Sunday roast) was over cooked. It was completely well done. It took ages for the wait staff to bring our son’s ice cream. I’m almost certain they just had to scoop it into a bowl?!?! Anyhow, the bill came quickly and there was a lovely gift bag with beer for my husband as a Father’s Day gift. All in all, our experience was good. We will definitely give it another go, and hope that it was just a busy night and that next time will be better.
Poor quality food. Roast beef cold and stringy. Roast potatoes lack flavour and not cooked fully. Dessert served not matching the description on the menu.
Over priced for what we got.
Slow service and no apology for slowness.
Lovely place , service was good and some of the staff friendly . It is very expensive for what food you actually get.
Excellent service. Waitress was well informed on vegan choices. Prompt but unobtrusive service. Food was hot and good value. Would eat here again.
Good value for money. Our waitress was attentive and familiar with the day’s specials.
We had an amazing time and hope to visit again
Lovely meal in a beautiful pub. Lots to choose from
We went for dinner on a Saturday evening. It was rather too noisy for my liking. In my opinion, nice place for a drink (overlooking river) but not a meal. Some of the items on the menu were not available, although we weren't told this until we asked for them. So then we had to quickly choose something else.
My duck was hard to cut and chew. The curry was very spicy. We had to chase up our coffee and tea orders at the end. No mention or acknowledgement of birthday. Shame!
Good food. Great table with good view. Good service
Nice place mainly.for the view
Service was rude as she could not accommodate us even if I clearly booked for the number of people that turned out, she was annoyed at me and didn not spare a smile
She was also rude about the pram taking to much space, even though noone else was sitting next to us yet
my baby was sleeping I explain and when she is up I will for sure move her out and in the high chair
Hers was not s family friendly response
The other girl that came to take the orders was clearly been told of the situation and was frosty at first than warmep to us..
It's the first rule.of service to make the client happy, I know this well as its also my line of business and they clearly have not been told this important principle
Food was ok and the main beauty of the boaters Inn is the location
