Great as usual! love the Romaine/Roquefort salad !
Great salad and steak!
I went to dinner with a friend. We both ordered the Halibut special. It was delicious. One if the best fish dinners I’ve had, even at much pricier seafood restaurants. Although it was a busy Saturday night we didn’t feel rushed.
Overall a great place, broad menu, delicious, fresh food and terrific service.
Food was quite good. Service was professional yet friendly. Restaurant was nearly empty on a Monday evening at 6:30
Great atmosphere. Food is delicious and the service is really terrific.
Excellent service and well priced
Great halibut.Creamed spinach was fabulous. Asparagus was very fresh. Mashed potatoes were great comfort food. Sit by the windows if you want a more quiet dinner. I also love their burgers. If you're dining alone, eating at the bar is good. Service was great. Restaurant isn't cheap but it is well worth the price. Great neighborhood place.
Returned to this local French restaurant after staying away for years. Bottom line, the lunches are great with great service, descent food and reasonable service. Hope it continues and we will continue returning and tipping well too.
We were very disappointed in how we were treated at Bistro Le Steak. The waitstaff was fine. However, the manager who was greeting people at every other table and giving the women a red rose (it was Valentine's day) completely ignored us. We were a party of 2 women. In addition, my dining companion had to order her steak well done under instructions from her doctor as she is on chemotherapy. This apparently offended the chef who sent out a steak that had obviously been completely charred on purpose. It was actually burnt all the way through and was inedible. In addition her frites were burned, even though those at the next table looked very tasty. She chose not to say anything at the time, but we won't go there again.
Never been to a restaurant where they would not switch potatoes for a vegetable. And then to charge $9.00 for a small plate of tasteless broccoli. Major tacky!
Found it on Open Table and decided we’d try it
It is an old friend tradition and we love it every time!
Lunch is a good time to visit, as the restaurant is not very busy, the service is unobtrusive and conversation can flourish. The food is not over-priced and is excellent value.
Waitress was rude, paid no attention to detail and got two out of three orders wrong. Food was subpar and service was dissapoint ing. As a UES local I can vouch for the numerous other wonderful places in the neighborhood, do not waste your time or money here.
Excellent food, service, ambiance and value. We sat in the enclosed porch area which was quiet enough for easy conversation. Highly recommend Bistro Le Steak.
A local favorite of ours. Dependable, friendly and good food and drink.
Came for New Year’s dinner.
The food and service was excellent!
Excellent as always!
We’ve always had good meals at BLS. Unfortunately, NYE was our first bad experience - crab martini appetizer - had no crab chunks at all and was a goop of mayonnaise. Unclear how they dish made it out of the kitchen. Poor quality control. Our entrees took almost an hour to arrive and the Halibut special was tasteless and dry. Others around us experienced similar disappointments as we overheard many complaints. Our Waiter apologized and suggested that the holiday crowd and special menu items were causing problems. From my perspective, the restaurant was no busier than a typical weekend night and I am not sure why food execution was impacted - the Halibut was a featured item.
We will likely overlook this disappointment and return again as we’ve had many positive experiences until now, but there are too many good restaurants in the area to accept another disappointing meal.
Staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was very good, nice portions. Unfortunately one of the dishes we ordered, pork chop, was way over done and dry. The rest of the dishes (steak, lamb, and seafood) and appetizers were prepared as ordered and very tasty.
Had a late mid week dinner. Excellent service and good food!
Just what I hoped for for Christmas dinner with my family. Quaint, warm, Christmas light decorations and a delicious meal. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We had the garlic Gorgonzola bread and calamari as appetizers. Yum! I loved that they didn’t rush us and that they waited for us to be done before the entrees came out. I had the sole almondine, my husband the ribeye, my eldest the burger and my youngest the penne with chicken. All were perfect. I made sure to save room for dessert. I had the chocolate mousse which was rich and creamy. A perfect Christmas dinner. Would definitely recommend for any time of year.
Great service, good food
Usually the food is very dependable but maybe because this was Christmas Eve and much more crowded than usual, our steaks and roast duck were overcooked and a bit tasteless.
My husband and I have been dining at the restaurant for the last 8 years. The ambience is lovely, the service on point and the food was delicious. We have our favorites on the menu and are always open to hearing about the specials.
We had reservations for Xmas eve for dinner. After looking at the specials, we decided to go with a couple of our favorites from the regular menu. My husband has always been partial to the grilled swordfish, served with mashed potatoes and spinach and so he ordered it. When it arrived, he noticed that the piece of fish was half the size as usual and there were no mashed potatoes. We stopped the waiter and asked if the kitchen forgot to include the potatoes. He told us that some of the entrees that had come with a starch before, like potatoes, now come without, but we could order a side for an additional cost.
I can understand increasing the cost of an entree by a couple of dollars, but who takes away an expected part of an established dish??? Le Steak has its menu posted online in many different sites and none of them indicate this new policy. At the very least, after being questioned, the waiter should have brought over the mashed potatoes as a gesture of good will.
There are many restaurants around that we really enjoy. Sadly, we’re crossing Le Steak off our list.
Food was just ok - too expensive for quality of meat. Smell of cleaning fluid throughout the restaurant Friendly service. However unlikely will go back
Great bistro food. Don't let the name of the restaurant fool you -- they have have lots of great menu options other than steak, including excellent fish dishes. Festively decorated for the holidays!
After spent $250 for dinner, it was definitely one of the worst experience I have ever had. Food was not right. Servers were unfriendly. I’m for sure never go back there again.
I went for a birthday dinner and the food was amazing
Experience but with the incredible taste
It was perfect and cooked expertly
Great Food , Service and Ambiance with a welcoming attitude and classic French Bohemia !
Service was excellent but food was mediocre. When a French bistro has bad onion soup, it's not a good sign. We won't be returning.
It's really so good to have a neighborhood restaurant like this!
The food is up to snuff, the service is perfect, and the ambiance to match.
They have great hamburgers!!
All told, recommend highly.
The waiter got things wrong- forgot one appetizer, forgot one drink, never asked if we needed anything. But the food was good, except a shrimp cocktail I should have known not to order in a bistro! icy-cold straightened shrimp- no curl to them at all, served on a bed of ice so they seemed to need defrosting. The escargots were so small we couldn't see one when it came out of the shell! - the size of a jumbo green pea. But the rib eye steak was a great piece of meat, the calves liver special was cooked beautifully, and the chocolate mousse came in a lovely martini glass. The prices are admirably fair for the neighborhood and the quality of the food. The wine of the day by the glass ($15) was supposedly Sancerre but I had to send it back- it was as sweet as a cheap cahrdonnay. The Pinto Grigio on the menu was jsut fine, thoguh.
great pork chop and steak- juicy crisp and flavorful
Unfortunately, food was poor, service very good.
Food was very good but service was far below par. Asked for certain things and some never came and things we did ask for came too late.
Second time there this month once for Dinner and once for Brunch... both were great!
