Bis on Main
I had family visiting Seattle and we reserved a table for seven. Everyone got a different entrée but all very much enjoyed their choice. Great selection to choose from. The round table was very conducive to conversation with a group of seven. All could hear reasonably well. I would recommend Bis on Main to anyway wanting a fine, high class, traditional dining experience.
We had business associates in town for meetings and we chose Bis on Main because of the food, service and ambiance. There are a lot of good restaurants in Bellevue but my choice is always locally owned when available. Bis on Main has great wine selections, our business guests like tequila and scotch so great selections there too. The food is always consistently good. Garlic chicken and halibut was a hit with our guests. Service was excellent and the noise level is good - we can talk but it’s not so loud we have to shout.
Bis on Main never disappoints. Highly recommend
Great service, ambiance, food and (especially) wine. Only nit was the Field Mushrooms and Polenta was boring; it should have been polenta cake, not creamy polenta. It needed salt very badly and the flavors of the mushrooms were lost against the polenta. I would have recommended polenta cake, mushrooms on top, arugula on that, and drizzled with balsamic or some other contrasting sauce.
This was our second time at Bis on Main within a month and the food, service, and atmosphere was great.
Lovely place to meet and talk with friends. Great food and service. Nice location on Old Main in Bellevue.
As always, excellent food and service. Been many times and always enjoy the experience.
We love BIS and took a friend from out of town to dinner Saturday night. Must have been rowdy USC fans - even the bus boy mentioned he'd never heard it this loud. Everything was great other than the oysters...I was surprised that they actually served a couple of them.
Try this restaurant when is not likely to be full. I have eaten here several times and always found it fabulous. It is my favorite restaurant in Bellevue. However, on Friday evening the place was full. As usual, the food and service were perfect. However, the place was far too loud. The noise level was so high that none of the three of us in our party could hear the others speaking without leaning in and everyone speaking very loudly. None of us has a hearing problem and one of us was in his mid thirties. It was so loud for so long that I became a bit nauseated and had to close my eyes and put my fingers in my ears for a minute. It was way beyond what can be called "energetic". It was just too loud.
This is a great location for a business lunch or dinner. Frankly, a great place to stop by and have a bite. Lovely ambiance with quality feel. Staff is attentive, yet discrete. Food was excellent, and portions were large, a welcomed surprise. Loved the opportunity to visit and dine here. Will definitely return in the near future.
I would recommend to a friend. Fhe space for each individual was perfect, but only because we showed with 6 people only instead of 8 since 2 of my guests declined on short notice.
So overall I would suggest, to not to put too many people on one desk.
I am still trying to get over one entree rack of lamb at $78 per plate -
We are big Bis fans but think we were there on an off night. Service was slow, food was just OK, when dishes were removed food was dropped on a guests shirt. We’ll be back as it’s usually a 5-star dining experience.
I love sitting in my favorite seat at the bar! I always used to order the roast chicken, which is delish, but I recently discovered the Sal Salad. It has all my favorite Mediterranean flavors. And to pump up the protein factor, I add some grilled prawns. A glass (or two) of a cold crisp Sauv Blanc makes this a perfet meal.
My only complaint about this place is the vacuuming schedule. I understand the need to do this between lunch and cocktail hour/dinner time and I appreciate that it is done. BUT why can't it be done around 3:30 instead of between 4;30 and 5 when people are already filling up the bar? That machine sounds like you're on the runway at SeaTAc...it's SO loud!!!!
Food was super bland and uninteresting. For a restaurant of its reputation and tenure I was ver disappointed.
Better than Fantastic! Excellent and delicious food and selection of wine. Service was excellent, no rushing, take your time atmosphere! I recommend BIS to people and groups looking for a great dining experience!!
After reading the good reviews for some time, we recently stopped by for dinner. The ambiance is clean but surprisingly bland for this type of restaurant. The drinks and appetizer were both fine -- neither bad nor outstanding. My wife ordered the garlic chicken which was well done and accompanied by good mashed potatoes.
As for my entree, I defaulted to my usual -- a thick-cut pork chop -- because I never can never replicate a restaurant's tender, juicy, and flavorful texture at home. I can honestly say that I've never had a worse pork chop either at a restaurant or even in my own kitchen (which is saying quite a lot). First, the pork itself bordered on dry, was devoid of any flavor at all, and was definitely not tender. The pork was served on a modest pile of cooked green and red peppers and nothing more. This was seriously one of the most unappetizing side dishes I've ever encountered. While I generally like peppers, these were one-dimensional, oily, and did nothing to distract from the disappointing nature of the pork. My wife took pity on me and offered me some of her sides which made it possible for me to finish the meal.
Having experienced a huge variety of cooking styles, it's just beyond me how anyone thought this was an appealing flavor profile or presentation. While I should have returned it and started over with something else, I didn't want to have my wife finish her dinner before mine showed up. I know that every restaurant can have a bad night or have a dish that's not a home run every time, but this meal was just so far beneath what I consider acceptable from a restaurant at this level. We definitely do not recommend nor will we return.
This is one of my favorite restaurants! They recognize you when you arrive and give excellent service. Every dish I've had here has been wonderful. My favorite is are the truffle fries. Never had them anywhere else as good. Super crispy and just melt in your mouth. Love their wine selection too! It's a great place for lunch or dinner! Lance and Christina are fabulous servers as well!
We have dined here many times, but had not been for a few months so I decided to have my birthday dinner here. Everything including the service and food was exceedingly good as usual. My only disappointment was we ordered one dessert to split between our party of 4 and it was not comped, after a $300 dinner. Most high end restaurants do and that is the reason I was disappointed.
Excellent food and great service. Will go again. Please eliminate the 50 character minimum.
This is our favorite go to place for special occasions. It never disappoints, and it didn’t this time. The kazu black cod was heavenly and I can’t wait to return.
Amazing service and dishes! We loved our Sal Salad, Clam Chowder, Crab Cakes, and Crispy Chicken!!! The crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had!!!
Can’t recommend it enough and Kristen, our server, was terrific!!
Love this restaurant
Bis is a classic restaurant, great food, great service and QUIET. So many restaurants now are too noisy.
The Bis food experience was a good one although a bit pricey. That is no big deal; good food is worth what it takes for the expertise and top ingredients to make a fine dining evening. The reason I won't go back, though, is that I was sitting elbow to elbow with my friend and could not hear her. This was not a Friday or Saturday night that tends to be a bit more exuberant, and I do not have a hearing problem. It was noise crashing off walls and the ceiling into the senses that overwhelmed what would have been an excellent experience. Bis is off my list for dinner; lunch, maybe.
Excellent and always consistent. Bis has a nice line up of new, fresh and seasonal dishes across the menu and execute them well. Quiet so you can have a relaxed conversation. Highly recommend.
The Staff was very knowledgeable and friendly.
The menu is well diversified with with Seasonal fish and vegetables.
The portions were very generous .
This was our 2nd date night at Bis on Main. Service, food quality, and comfort brings us back! We actually like sitting at the bar and eating our dinner there.
Great food and superior service. Party of five and everyone loved their meal
Pure joy as always!
Great venue for a special anniversary. Everything met our expectations.
Great place for dinner or lunch! I absolutely love their food and their service! My mom is vegan and they prepared a fabulous lunch for her and I enjoyed my Kobe burger :)
Bis delivers again!! Always our go-to spot for dinner. Never disappointed. The rack of lamb was sublime as was the halibut and salmon. We make sure to bring all of our out of town guests here for a fabulous dinner!
I have celebrated occasions, entertained clients and caught up with dear friends and Bis always exceeds. They are a gem.
Excellent in all ways ... as always
Bid on Main is one of our favorites in Bellevue if you want elegant dining and delicious food!
Best cod I’ve ever had! Great, attentive service!
Food was good but not amazing. Service was ok. We each ordered salads and they brought them out at completely different times which was weird. Food was good wand dessert was very good. Lighting inside was VERY bright and it was pretty loud. Definitely better places in the area to go.
Joe keeps this restaurant special as always - such a treat every time!
ALWAYS, IT IS A PLEASURE TO DINE AT BIS ON MAIN - JOE IS ALWAYS INVITING, REGARDFUL AND I APPRECIATE HOW THOUGHT-FULL THE ATTENDANTS ARE WITH US!
