Big Easy Covent Garden
We proudly offer a large slice of easy going living, inspired by the Gulf Coast, with live bands 7 nights week, a friendly welcoming atmosphere, fresh cocktails, ice cold beers and generous portions of
good old home-style cooking offering Home-Smoked BBQ & Fresh East Lobsters.
Fast forward to today and we continue to uphold those time-honoured traditions; social occasions of the bygone age, friends getting together over great fresh food, plentiful drinks and music - these never go out of fashion.
We went there on a busy Saturday, everyone was very nice and the food was just delicious!! We had a very lovely time and we’re super stuffed :)
Had a table booked for 9pm but was running late so change it to 10pm. Started off well. We asked the waitress if we had to order mains with starters and she said no, you can order whenever you like. Found this funny as online it says they close at 11pm at it was 10.15pm. Starters came out, were very nice. Ordered our mains at 10.30pm, my wife had the lobster and fillet which was very nice. I had the ribs, pulled pork and chicken which was a lot of meat and came with no sauce or dressing. Taste nice. Once we finished my wife was really looking forward to a waffle dessert she had seen online. We asked the waitress for a dessert menu to which she replied the kitchen was closed. Why tell us we can order whenever we want and then know the kitchen is closing, at say 10.45pm, not inform us so we could have ordered a dessert sooner? After this we asked for the bill which took 10 mins to arrive and while we waited a mouse crawled down the wall behind my wife. This was very off putting. Bill came to £131 which is a bit much for 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 cocktails. It is quite a shame as we had heard good reviews about Big Eady but this was not we experienced on our visit.
Fab food, great atmosphere, Good band, would highly recommend to family and friends
Great food and atmosphere. Definitely need to book as there was a 2 hour wait but people were willing to. Tells you something
Bad experience big queues and rude staff no chance of getting served within a reasonable time, and after waiting in line for nearly 20mins I was told I had missed my booking time and needed to wait for a table! never again need a lesson in dealing with people let alone customers
The food was lovely and they accomodated us 8 people plus a baby. Our server was lovely and the food is amazing.
Unimpressed, not what I remember the 'Big Easy' to be. Will not be revisiting anytime soon! :(
We went as a group of 16, service was fantastic and friendly, food was fab. everyone had a great time. Thank you to everyone at the Big Easy!
Juliana was amazing! She was so friendly and really made our anniversary meal special. The only downside was that it was so hot in the restaurant! It was sweltering! Otherwise great food, great atmosphere, great service.
Food and service was good as always but having to pay £9.50 for a virgin mojito is a bit too much. We found the food a bit oily but I guess that is a personal preference.
Tasty food but overpriced, which is a shame. Lobster was tasty.
We have been to a Big East before so know what to expectOur favourite evening is Thursday - Lobster and Steak night. Also happy hour at the bar. Good food, but can be a tad noisy.
Went for the unlimited fajita deal
Have had better ones elsewhere - seasoning on the chicken was lacking and scant onions and peppers - satisfied an big appetite but nothing special in terms of taste
Great food, just like being in Texas. Excellent value express lunch
I love this restaurant but our last trip we came alone to order a drink at the bar, we were ignored by all staff for 20 minutes who seemed to want to avoid giving any drinks during happy hour or left the bar for 15 minutes. We then queued to get a table despite already saying we had arrived as staff couldnt be bothered to seat anyone and let others push in or list their allergies, and so this wasted another 10 minutes. No apologies or anything for the hold. It then took 10 minutes to be offered a drink despite not getting one at the bar and so was very disappointed. Food was good as per normal but service awful this time around
Good tasting food, great atmosphere and service! Would definitely go there again.
I would recommend the food. The lobster BLT was really good... but the drinks aren't on par!
The experience at big easy was overall a good one but unfortunately we were overcharged massively for our drinks. The good and vibe was great and the experience apart from this was good.
Live music was loud enough to inhibit comfortable conversation. Servers were helpful when they could be found, but overstretched making it often difficult to get their attention.
Had an absolute amazing birthday experience. Caitlin made it very special i didn't want to make a big deal as it was my birthday meal, but she made sure i had a candle on my waffle. She was very attentive, and made the experience very pleasant. Cocktails were also really nice. Thank you Caitlin (Covent Garden Branch)
Lovely food, bottomless barbeque and frozen mojitos, friendly efficient staff but very noisy however it's a lively kind of place so a bit of noise is to be expected
Enjoyable couple of hours celebrating my daughter's 16 Birthday. Desperate to try lobster, she was not disappointed. Would happily go again!
overall was a great day. We had to have a little grumble about slow drinks but to be honest we expected this on the boozy brunch and cannot fault staff for the way they responded afterwards. food was sensational and the brunch is superb value for money
It has to be said that the food was great. However, the service was terrible; we had opted for the bottomless brunch (with unlimited Prosecco) but it took over one hour for the waiter to take our order, and over 45 minutes for our first Prosecco top-up - after this we had to ask for each top-up. When the food did arrive, some of the orders were wrong, and some were missing sides. The waiter then tried to take my friend’s plate from her to clean up, while she was still eating! The bill came with a service charge automatically applied - having said all of this, the manager was very helpful and did remove the service charge and give us a discount considering the poor service, which was very nice, but I wouldn’t be going back any time soon unfortunately!
Had brunch and food was good, staff very attentive. A little on the loud side music wise but it had a buzzing atmosphere. Would go back for sure. I had veggie burger and friend had lobster and prawn roll. The chips were great too!
Fantastic value especially for London
We've been to the big easy in Kensington before and it was great. However, this experience was very disappointing. The service was awful. Our reservation was half an hour late. We couldn't even get water for the table because apparently they broke all the jugs. However 4 glasses of water instead of a jug did not occur to any of them even after we asked. It was just super meh.
Food tastes great! BUT
Extremely loud music no way you can talk to each other. When asked if volume can be adjusted, answer is NO.
Frozen margharitas taste good but very little alcohol content so it is more of an extreme sugar intake experience rather than getting any alcohol buzz.
I expected some Birthday celebration from the restaurant (i.e. waiters singing Happy Bday song) as I informed the restaurant of the occasion and asked but in the end got nothing except a measly ONE scoop of ice cream with one candle on top and waiter said happy birthday in a very subtle tone. Bravo!
More of a place to to get drunk or go when you are already drunk.
Will I go again? Probably not despite great food selection and taste.
The food served was ok if you like pork and fish. The service was dreadful - it took 30 minutes to get a drink from ordering and the staff weren’t attentive at all.
Had to wait 40 minutes on arrival for a pre booked table. Service was appalling and slow, we ordered drinks and they came out one by one waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine to be told they didn’t have any. I ordered mussels half the plate came out closed. Steaks came out over cooked and wafer thin.
An overall poor experience from start to finish which is a shame. I ate at the Chelsea branch before and it was brilliant so really disappointing for a birthday celebration and would never go back.
Always a good choice for central London. Buzzing atmosphere but you can still hear everyone around the table, great food, ridiculously big portions, amazing cocktail list- whats not to like?
Really nice place , good service nice food, little expensive for drinks and food but all in all nice
Really happy with my experience on a busy saturday night, great service and amazing food!
I have been going to Big Easy for years at least once a month for their Boozy brunch.
I was informed when I arrived this time that it was no longer a bottle per person. The whole time we were in there ( 2 hours) we had three drinks. We had to constantly wait for drinks, constantly look around and for the waitress who was looking after us and about 20 other large tables
Was absolutely shocking will never return
Service - Our waitress Eva (I believe) was very cold and had a ridiculous rule that we had to finish our glass of drink before she would bring us another. Now I understand that you dont want them lining up (though as it's advertised as bottomless, I'd be within my rights to do so) but as it took 5 -10 mins to get her attention and for a drink to arrive, it made sense for us to ask for the next round while she was at our table. She was pretty rude, got our food order wrong with no apology. £40 service bill was not paid happily.
The rest of the staff seemed attentive enough though so perhaps this was a bad day for Eva.
Food - again we didn't make the most of the limitless BBQ because we were told we had to eat everything on our plate. Some of the pulled pork was a bit too fatty so I left it and then wasn't allowed anymore chicken, extra chips or corn bread which I wanted.
Drinks - Great - when we were allowed them!
an extremely busy restaurant with plenty of energy and atmosphere. however, the food was ok, I had no issues but my friends weren't as lucky, all a bit cold, bland, mass produced lacking in any wow factor. I had the lobster which was good, but had to keep chasing the staff for something to eat it with. The bar staff too were very happy to give us the wrong bottle of wine - the more expensive one which we didn't ask for, until challenged, when I was given very short shrift. A smile, would have been ok..
A fraudulent reservation was made in my name and open table couldn't resolve the issue.
The food was nice, but it was too loud in there. It was a Friday evening, which could be why, but I wouldn't recommend it if you'd like to hear you're hoping to have a catch up with friends/romantic night with your partner.
Great food and great service.
The only complaints I had were the tables and chairs were very close together, which made going to the rest rooms a little arduous as you literally couldn't move your chair out without hitting the chair or person behind. I'm sure this isn't an issue at quiet times, but when it is busy it does make the experience a little uncomfortable. And that is not just not going to the loo, just being able to move in your seat was impossible and getting to your seat when we arrived and leaving was really tricky and must have been unpleasant for the diners already there.
The music (a live band) was pretty loud, and with a lovely busy and full restaurant having the noise of music on top of conversation made it tricky to talk.
However, in both these, minor, complaints, it just gave the space the atmosphere you would love in a restaurant (although maybe not so much not being able to go to the loo!)
