Cute hole in the wall. Meal was descent, not a lot of meat. Good customer service.
Very happy to have found Bettolona, my 2 daughters and I enjoyed a delicious dinner. All the employees are very friendly and genuine.
Excellent food, good service during an early dinner rush
Excellent neighborhood joint, excellent italian food, reasonably prized, great service.
My friends and I ate at Bettolona for the first time on Friday night and unanimously agreed that it was a 'find!' Not only was the food fabulous, but the staff were warm and welcoming. We were concerned that we'd have lost our reservation when traffic made us slightly late, but the host was entirely understanding and charming. When we said we had a show to go to, the waiter said he make sure our food would be ready quickly, and it was. The owner of the restaurant went around to every table to make sure everyone was happy -- it was clearly a place where not only the chefs were excellent, but where everyone working there seemed to enjoy their jobs and their customers -- even during the hectic time when every table was full. MOST importantly, though, the food was delicious -- try the spinach lasagna -- you won't be sorry!
Everything was great from the time we walked in until the time we left!!!
the food was just ok, serve was really good , restaurant was quite
Just know that if you go in summer when their whole windows/doors opening to the street you are directly next to the elevated trains and subjected to the LOUD noise of their passing every few minutes. In winter I imagine it's more muted since the place isn't open to the outdoors. It's pleasant since they don't have to use AC but OMG the noise, plus sirens and such...being on Broadway.
We had an amazing time - the food was great and affordable for the area, and the service was fantastic! There is the train that comes by time to time, but didn’t prevent us from having a good time!
Celebrating pride
Amazing as always
Authentic Italian with very attentive management and staff. Linguini, lamb and calamari salad were all excellent. Can be crowded on weekends so get a reservation.
Great meal, service & owner. A true gem!
The food is not authentic Italian food. Its just pasta and pizza. NO FLAVOR AT ALL!!
Bettolona is a neighborhood Italian restaurant that provides comfort, good homey food, decent wine lovely coffees and a few terrific desserts. It’s just down the hill for me, about 1block from the 125th street #1 stop and the 4 and104 buses. The is always a fire in the pizza oven which is soothing no matter the season. For those that like it there is a nice bar.!The prices are reasonable for lunch, dinner and brunch. Go and enjoy.
Friendly neighborhood boite in the Columbia University area.
Menu is interesting, well-priced; service is satisfactory.
I met a friend there for dinner, and we had a nice time.
Beautiful place in west harlem. I didn't expect the rustic and authentic feeling when we came. The prices for the straight-out-of-Italy food was unbelievable. Great rosé and a loveable owner!! Will be back for sure in the summer.
We were greeted by a friendly, personable owner. The dining area has a warm casual chic feel. The cocktail bar made a perfect Negroni for me to start things off. The salads, brick oven pizza, and pasta was all outstanding. Tight wine list. In terms of cost, let's just say this dinner experience would be a fantastic value anywhere, let alone upper west side Manhattan.
One of (if not my favorite place) in the area... The kitchen is fast; the food is fresh; nice, simply presented food like a proper Italian Trattoria should be (almost like Italy) with a wonderful host (if u’re lucky enough to see him) generally better & better staff of late and it’s a warm cozy charming space w/ a nice bar and actual pizza oven with pizza dough maker in-house on display. Highly recommended.
The food was incredible. Everything was cooked well and exceeded expectations. It was a great night for some friends to get together.
Good pizza and a great cod dish.
Excellent food and great service
This is one of the best Italian restaurants in NYC. As an Italian American I can say, with absolute confidence, that the food is absolutely delicious. It tastes as good as grandma's Sunday feasts. Also worthy of praise is the service. Everyone from the owner to the employees who provide cleaning services makes each and every guest feel as if he or she is the only customer being served.
ALWAYS DELISH! A fun place for a great meal. Parking nearby.
Attention to detail and great staff.
A friend had mentioned Bettolona to me before. It turned out to be as described too. The server was attentive and made every accommodation we requested, including gluten-free. My cousin ordered the Al Funghi Pizza that came with tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese and mushrooms. Despite his usually being a picky eater, he finished all of his pizza and loved it. The rest of us had the pasta dish Penne Siciliana that consisted of eggplant, tomato sauce and soft ricotta cheese. It was all well-prepared, well-presented and enjoyable.
An excellent neighborhood pasta and pizza joint. A lot of happy people in a small space makes for a din that can be overwhelming. Brace yourself and dig in as the food is good and swiftly served. The owner is a marvelous host with a warm welcome.
Great Italian food, very good value. Owner very friendly. Highly recommend it.
I’ve been going there for years. It’s part of my neighborhood.
Friendly, accommodating. Italian family owned. Food authentic and really good!
The staff is very friendly and accommodating but the food is a little disappointing. The first time we visited it was good enough to return but not the case this time. Really sad :(
I felt like I was family
Very solid neighborhood restaurant. Excellent pizzas from their brick oven. All pasta dishes are very good. I recently tried their spinach fettuccine. I normally wouldn't order a dish with 'cream sauce' but one waiter assured me that it isn't a heavy cream sauce. It is now my new favorite dish here. I often come here for lunch and I recently brought my family here for dinner and it was a perfect choice. They greeted my family warmly and gave us great table. Easy drive from the GWB for my city-phobic fam.
Lovely restaurant. Only downfall is the adjacent above ground subway line
Delicious meal and wonderful atmosphere, as usual!
Artichoke appetizer came not as expected. It did not indicate the artichoke hearts were Fried on description. Bean soup was mediocre. My salmon entrée was good, although could’ve had a crispier outside. The pasta Bolognese it was excellent
Excellent as always! The food is good, the service good and the ambience very enjoyable.
We were welcomed graciously. We had a reservation for 8 but 4 didn't show up. The servers never said one word. We just moved to a smaller table and had a delicious dinner. Because the window/doors were open, we had elevated subway noises, but it's summer in New York, so we just laughed.
First time...What a pleasant surprise. The entire staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. I love soup and eat it wherever I go..I had a white bean soup which was a generous, delicious and HOT( temperature) which was much appreciated. I had a seafood Risotto for my main dish and again it was delicious, ample size, fresh seafood and HOT(temperature). For desert I had a dish whose name I can't remember bit it was sort of a crepe with bananas and nutella. Do I have to say how delicious that was.. All that great food and servers who promptly responded to any request...A real gem
It’s a great place for a group. Pizzas all good and drinks excellent. Excellent value and right near the one train.
Tasty food, comfortable service and a nice wine selection!
