Buzzy and beautiful, but the food and drink are overpriced for the quality on offer.
Lovely ambience, delicious food and great service.
Came for a birthday lunch and had a great afternoon. Food, service and setting were all superb
The location is great but unfortunately the food is not at the same level. Very poor, in fact, for standard and presentation, resulting also to be totally overpriced.
A really very nice place to go for a family lunch pre- Christmas. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely nice with the children, whilst still maintaining formality.
Great service from next door's bar, coordinating moving into to the restaurant when table was ready, service and food as always very good, had a good evening.
Absolutely perfect: reception, charm, knowledge of produce and menu, efficiency, timing...
The restaurant is beautiful and the service is perfect. The food is delicious.
Outstanding restaurant. Food was excellent and staff very attentive. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.
This restaurant is stunning, beautiful decor, excellent service from start to finish. The food was good but not excellent but this is made up by the service and atmosphere. My only major disappointment was from the sommelier. He did not listen to what we asked for, paid no attention to what food we ordered and seemed to prefer to speak to the man in the party instead of me a woman who was asking all the questions and request his assistance. Such a shame as everything else was spot on.
Possibly the most gorgeous restaurant in London! Beautiful setting and excellent ambiance, covid measures kept us and staff safe without detracting from the experience, however the service (although good) felt rather rushed and the food was very good but not outstanding. The high price you pay is more justified for the environment than the food.
We were disappointed with the service, it was rushed. When we received the bread our mains were being delivered at the same time. One of our party had her plate taken before she had finished and had to stop the waiter. We paid nearly £700 between us and were very unhappy with the service.
Wonderful service, atmosphere, amazing space and DELICIOUS food. A perfect treat for a birthday
Just lunch. I’ve been loads before. It’s not quite its usual ambient buzz so that’s a shame but by no means the establishments fault xx
We came for the Sunday roast and it really was delightful and such good value for money for the quality and amount of food you get.
The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful and the staff are friendly and attentive, can’t wait to come back for dinner.
Really enjoyed our Sunday Lunch at Berners Tavern. The set menu is great value. Particularly enjoyed the champagne trolley...!
I love going to Berners Tavern but on Sunday lunch, the plate was cold and the food was totally cold by the time I was half way through the main course of roast beef. Also I guess due to Covid the doors were open and it wasn’t very warm inside. Huge high ceilings. It won’t stop me going again as I love it there.
Beautiful venue and really yummy food. The service was lively and great cocktails.
I was looking for a quiet and romantic restaurant and I found in an article on the internet this one. Well, nothing similar to romantic or quiet. Very noisy place, just a big big Square room with small regular tables one beside another, no privacy, beautiful baroque ceilings a lot of frames on the walls and thats it. Food was good as in every reataurant, expensive and thats it. I was expecting something more baroque with more decoration, private, quiet, something cosy but nothing of that.
Had a lovely covid-secure lunch at Berners Tavern on Saturday with my boyfriend. The service and food was top notch and even with tables safely spaced and reduced group sizes there was still a good buzzy atmosphere. The food was delicious.
Ridiculously over priced wine menu. Struggled to find anything under £100!!
A cynical exercise in the extraction of money. I would point to the 5 x mark up on wine and the most expensive mac and cheese in London. It might be splitting hairs but the macaroni was actually rigatoni and over cooked.
Date night. Always love a trip to Berners Tavern. From the champagne trolley to start, a delicious menu and fantastic wine list, Berners Tavern always delivers. The service was excellent and the sommelier was very helpful in navigating the bible-like wine list. Love coming here!
Final serving before lockdown with strict 10pm closing. Was very lovely to see the restaurant full and the happy punters enjoying the great ambience, professional service with the perfectly cooked menu. The team did a great job managing expectations for guests given the 10pm kick out. Proceedings were far more accelerated than normal, the team did well to respectfully keep things moving.
Perfectly cooked steak, paired with a lovely red.
Very sad to be the last to walk out and know that in this festive season the staff, customers and all Londoners will not enjoy the beautiful ambiance and Christmas spirit that Berners Tavern delivers this time of year.
The most beautiful venue!
The Berne’s Tavern is always great and our recent visit, on the eve of Lockdown 2.0 was no different. The staff are so attentive and the food was perfect. We will be back as soon as Boris allows us too!
Excellent as usual. I was however hoping that as I was celebrating my partner’s birthday that there would be some gesture to this effect, but there wasn’t. Needless to say it was amazing food and service.
Best Mac and cheese in London. Really safe Covid measures in place.
Ambience is perfect.
Berners Tavern was a lovely dining experience and a beautiful restaurant.
Gorgeous space, fabulous food and exceptional service
Sunday lunch before lockdown ;)
Great venue, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Very good food
Great- didn’t blow my mind and the menu seemed significantly reduced! Cocktails were lovely
Great atmosphere and service. Best chateaubriand I’ve ever eaten. Melt in the mouth beef. Made for a wonderful evening. Punchy wine list though.
Very poorly trained waiter staff. Sommelier uncertain about the Hungarian wine on his list, the waiter telling us we needed to order quickly as we only had the table for 1.5 hrs (we had been there for under 10 minutes). The food was average - no course had anything resembling a strong chef signature. This is a restaurant for new money. If you are happy with branding then it might work. But if you seek a truly good restaurant then please stay away from this poorly run, poorly trained and frankly poor kitchen.
Excellent food, great service just a bit quiet/empty die to covid situation I suspect. Any other time of it is buzzing with people and excitement, usually a great atmosphere.
Great ambience; a beautiful room with sumptuous seating and “socially distanced” without realising it! Excellent food from an interesting menu with quality wines to accompany - all well explained and served discreetly. The place had a good buzz without being overpowering although I’m sure with more diners it would still be great.
