Superb food and an elegant yet lively atmosphere make this an enjoyable spot for us to visit when we are in town visiting family and crave some special time just the two of us.
Always a pleasure to do business at the Bville Inn. Great service and atmosphere.
I would recommend dinner for a special occasion, and we also enjoy just going for a cocktail at the bar and listening to the piano music on occasion, sometimes ordering a cheeseboard to nibble with our drinks. The staff is friendly, but be aware it is an upscale atmosphere and prices. Valet parking on weekends is a plus. The only thing I would add is that typically at restaurants of this caliber, they usually present some type of complimentary amuse before your app or a complimentary small sweet treat with your check. The Bernards Inn does not. Not a big deal, just something I noticed.
We ended up in the bar area which was much more fun than the dining area!
This place never gets old. They deliver on the food, ambiance, service, and cocktails every time!
Very good food. Very nice place. Will go back.
The food was excellent and the service was very good as well. The adjoining bar area is a great place for a drink before or after your meal.
This was a great dining experience, like so many others here at the inn.
Definitely not the same as in the past. Recall strict dress code where gentlemen were required to wear a jacket at minimum but now they allow jeans and baseball hats. Kills the mode. Sometimes you just want a fine dining experience where you can enjoy being dressed.
This is our second visit to Bernards Inn. The first one about a year ago. The Inn is very close to the movie theater, making it an easy "one parking" night for a movie and dinner.
There is a certain relaxing ambiance, which coupled with subdued-but-efficient service provided for a delightful experience.
Bead with soft butter was provided. I chose the Lobster Bisque as an appetizer. Excellent. Maybe the best I've ever had--and I order it a lot. Bernards Inn's is creamy and has a wonderfully strong flavor of lobster. Not always the case. My partner had a Caesar Salad, which was lightly dressed and large enough to share. I had the Cavatelli and my partner had the Short Ribs. Both were well enjoyed. Although tempted, we skipped desert.
We certainly will not wait another year to come here again.
A most pleasurable dining experience!
Our stay @ the Bernards Inn was outstanding. We have already recommended the Inn and the dining experience to friends. Food and service, accompanied on SAT night by excellent piano entertainment was ideal and delicious.
Birthday dinner it was great
Awesome service they makes the delicious food say thank you for making Bernards Inn the sweet spot in a quiet place.
Always great
I thought that I was going to cabaret night. I dined at the restaurant a few weeks & noticed a sign for cabaret night so I made a reservation. Unfortunately the poster that was in the center of the lobby made no mention of having to make the reservation thru the special events office or that the event was in another part of the inn. Instead we had dinner right next to the piano because I had requested that location but there was no piano player because of cabaret night so we had dinner in silence with a server that had a terrible attitude & made numerous mistakes that included serving drinks, utensils,& food to the wrong people every time. I was entraining clients & this was very embarrassing. When the mixup regarding cabaret night was brought to the attention of a manager she made a very weak apology. We were all so shocked at the insincerity we were all speechless.
Returned to the Bernards Inn for our Anniversary Dinner and had a great evening. Enjoyed listening to the Piano Player in the Bar before dinner and then a delicious dinner in the Dining Room. We both had Maine Diver Scallops which were excellent! Very sweet of them to wish us Happy Anniversary in writing in a card and on our dessert plate. A fun romantic dinner overall!
One tip for the Manager. Your Restaurant appeared to be sold out except for an 8:30pm dinner reservation which we opted to select. However, when we arrived we were told there were plenty of available tables and we could be seated right away. We chose to wait a bit, however, you almost lost our business had we not decided 8:30pm was fine for us. Many other NJ diners would have passed and you had many available tables. I suggest sorting this out with OpenTable for bookings.
We had a nice experience overall. They had a nice piano player, we could only get an 8:30 pm réservation, so at the end of our dinner they started to move the tables in our section and that was a bit disturbing without this they would have gotten all 5 stars otherwise.
Lovely spot! Met old friends for lunch. Very quiet place which is beautiful and service is outstanding! We love to visit this restaurant. Highly recommend it.
Good food served in an elegant atmosphere. Perfect for special occasions. Like the fact that the Bar Menu is also available. Great wine list.
Birthday dinner. Server was outstanding! From the drink at the bar through dessert, everything was awesome!
Wonderful dinner. Great service. Oscar was outstanding. The food was excellent
Fabulous!!
Very loud in main room- move to an empty small room
On the side- server was nice but very inexperienced.
Difficult menu to choose from. My fois de canard was great
Food great, a little noisy outside with large group allowed at small table
Food was delicious and our service outstanding. Daniel made our evening even more memorable. He is truly an asset to Bernards inn
Excellent food, but limited menu choices
The service is exceptional, and the piano player is very good. It has a good ambiance, with a somewhat of a lively bar scene. The food overall was good, but not exceptional. Considering that we went here for our 35th wedding anniversary and stayed at the hotel and they were informed of this, nothing special was offered.
The waiter (Dan) was very knowledgeable about the wine menu and dinner menu. He made excellent recommendations (I actually went with his dinner recommendation - gnocchi with duck. Outstanding!). The pianist (Dee) was super. A great place to dine.
My husband and I got married at Bernard's Inn 5 years ago. We celebrate every year here for dinner. It NEVER disappoints! The food and staff are amazing!!!!!!!!!! We are always disappointed when it's all over. That's how good it is!
Service was a little weak on this visit. Unusual as service is usually excellent.
Bernards Inn is a great dining experience. Great food - I had short ribs with collard greens and cornbread - just a wonderful group of tastes. Service was excellent, attentive waiter. Bright room off the bar was perfect. We have gone a couple of times now before we head to MPAC in Morristown and plan to go again and again. For us, it ranks above any other restaurant in Somerset or Hunterdon Counties.
Excellent food. Excellent wine list. Great bar scene for older crowd. One of the best.
Great atmosphere, incredibly friendly and accommodating staff! Quality of everything we ordered from the drinks and appetizers to the main course were outstanding. The flavors from the combination and quality of the ingredients was truly and experience.
Great meal. All the food was fabulous. We love sitting on the terrace. Outside it was a beautiful summer night.
Our 4th visit here and we enjoyed everything from drinks to our dinner. We will be back.
We went to celebrate our anniversary. We enjoyed our dinner, halibut and scallops, however the staff needs more diversity education.
This was an outstanding combination for a summer lunch; both the Vichyssoise and the herbed chicken paillard were delicious with the pinot gris.
Went for breakfast on a Saturday. Food was wonderful. Service was great. Ambience super. However we were the only two in the restaurant!! I obviously didn’t need a reservation!! I would definitely return to this lovely place! Hope others join me!!!
Most of the staff had very heavy Spanish accents and were hard to understand. Communication could be better, but food was top notch.
