Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill
Offered the chance to restore Bentley’s to its former glory when it came up for sale in 2005, Chef Richard Corrigan embraced the challenge. Once again opening its doors to great critical acclaim serving oysters, fish and seafood in much the same way it has since 1916. Linen-clad tables, a wooden floor and Richard’s art collection adorn the walls creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Bentley's Oyster Bar and Grill also has two beautiful private dining rooms. The Crustacea seats up to 14 and the Swallow Street Rooms, with it's own private bar and street entrance, seats up to 60.

The restaurant is a classic that I have known for many years, I was not disappointed, it is still a very pleasant place with an exceptional service and food as I remembered it. Excellent the sole of Dover and the smoked salmon, also the accompaniment of tomatoes. Very good desserts, especially the creme broule.
The white wine seemed expensive to me, and I lacked some reference to the Spanish wines that have a good quality-price ratio.
In general terms, a good experience that will be repeated in the future.
Went to Oyster Bar & Grill for lunch with my colleague and had a lovely time. Having oysters seating at the terrace made us feel like we were on holiday. The staff was excellent, friendly and very attentive, and for once you can enjoy a nice lunch in peace: the noise level outside was perfect, no loud music. The food was fresh and delicious. I will definitely come back for more oysters!
Great atmosphere and service
The opentable menu portions were a little small for the price paid
An experience as much as a place to eat it is always a pleasure to return
Food was not very good- over cooked Dover Sole is inexcusable!
Amazing restaurant, amazing service and amazing food. Would recommend every time!!
Best oysters in town. Both the Vietnam Mede style and Jersey Rock oysters excellent
Excellent cuisine, atmosphere, friendly Staff, highly recommend
The food was good; well cooked, tasty and fresh but I feel it lacked the finesse expected of a venue such as Bentley's. The wine was excellent and really complemented the fish that we had. The service was really good and the waiters knowledgeable. It was really disappointing that they only had half the oysters advertised on the menu - the waiters cited that it was due to it being a weekend where they're normally busier than usual meaning they had sold out. I booked ahead and our table was at 1430 - only 3 hours after opening, so it's not unreasonable to expect the full menu to be available. We sat outside and were waited on attentively, however, the atmosphere was ruined by the general public walking through the dining area unchallenged by the staff. Overall, the food was good but not really the standard I've experienced in other London fish restaurants holding a Michelin star or charging at a similar price point; this made me come away thinking that our meal was overpriced. I probably won't go back or recommend Bentley's to friends/family and when spending that kind of money I will be heading back to Cornerstone or one of Nathan Outlaw's restaurants.
A must when visiting London it is part of it ,, all it’s dishes are unique in all .
Scrumptious, and all in a lovely light room. Not too bothered by the puddings.
Fabulous meal at Bentleys. Gorgeous fresh ingredients, inventive recipes and stunning wines to accompany the food! We were celebrating our daughters graduation and I couldn't think of anywhere better to be. Highlights for us the John Dory and Lobster summer stew and the scallops ceviche, stunning.
One final point, the service was brilliant - Nelson was on point and subtly delivered excellent service.
Outstanding experience: environment, service and quality.
Good old-fashioned quality, developed over many years.
Food very good , particularly the smoked salmon and Dover Sole. Excellent wine list and very helpful sommelier. Service was excellent.
fabulous homemade soda bread, the freshest tuna sashimi, home smoked salmon, the best Dover sole ever, washed down with a glass of chilled Chablis. Just sublime.
Great attentive service.
Fantastic for business lunch or a romantic dinner for two.
The oysters were nice . Chips were cold
Poor service and average food
Really awesome place for couples looking for a romantic evening
Old school fine fish dining. Impeccable service, not a flicker of disdain towards the scruffy, bearded and tattooed old man I resembled that evening. Somelier was bright and engaged and we sampled some desert wines before choosing one, waiting staff were there when we needed and not when we didn't and the upstairs room have a subtle buzz of attention to detail. Only downside is perhaps the hot shell platter could have been a tad larger for the price. Not our first dinner there, nor will it be our last.
This place is overrated and over priced and service was slow and poor. I had to ask twice about GF bread, which eventually we found out they did not have, and the waiter then pointed at the normal breed and told me this bread was very nice though - as if I had a choice in the matter! We ordered champagne and oysters and we had to chase the drinks, and then the oysters arrived before the champagne and we had to chase the champagne again. The food itself was tasty but nothing stunning. Will not be going back.
Good ambiance and food, however Very poor service, the worst I’ve experienced in London.
excellent fish and shellfish, especially oysters, in a relaxed unpretentious environment.
Thank you for your review we really appreciate you taking the time to rate us :)
They charged us still water when we had tap water. Service was slow and we waited long for them to take our order. Same thing happened to another table, the waitress disappeared on them.
A little disappointed and mainly for 1 reason, the tables are much too close together. The food was good, chip average, but our table was literally 9 inches from the next, is that right when I pay £60 for a main course to have to listen ( you had no choice ) to the next table.
The restaurant is ideally situated in the west end. The food is excellent and compared to other west end restaurant it is competitively priced. The wine list is well priced and a good but not extensive choice. This is not a critism as the selection is varied with an ample choices.
The tables are close together and the noise from other diners and the kitchen can be overpowering.
Excellent service. Clean, simple, fresh food.
Terrible service after a steak had to come out 3 times after not being Cooked correctly, to then be confronted by the server who took the order that it was cooked how our guest had requested.
We have been coming to Bentley's for over 30 years and have always loved the place. Whilst the food was very good it was not exceptional as is usually the case. As well as this we felt the service could have definitely been better, especially considering how quiet it was when we were there. We believe you get what you pay for and unfortunately on this occasion we felt that the bill definitely did not match the level of service and food we received.
Expensive for what it was.
A very friendly restaurant with really good food. The lobster was amazing! Staff were very knowledgeable and service was excellent
The last couple of times the food was not up to expectations. Sorry.
On a wet, Saturday afternoon in London’s West End after quite an exhausting few hours at an Art Exhibition, walking into Bentleys and being greeted warmly was very comforting.
Our table upstairs was spacious as well as being perfectly set and we settled down in anticipation of an enjoyable lunch.
We were not to be disappointed and all 3 of us were thoroughly pleased with our choices from the menu. Delicious Gazpacho soup to begin with for me, and the best Fish and Chips in London for all of us followed.
Because we were eating lunch a bit on the late side, the room was fairly quiet but because it is such a bright and spacious dining room the atmosphere was still all there.
I look forward to my next visit.
We visit London rarely, but when we do we like to splash out a little. We picked Bentleys as it was reviewed by Jay Rayner as one of his favourite places. Can honestly say that the whole experience was underwhelming. The food from the bread basket - not the freshest to a Cornish fish soup which although adequate did not have the depth of flavor expected - together with a measly 2 croutons both stale and a portion of aioli which was lost at the bottom of the bowl. Mains again were Ok but the Cod used was not of the best quality. Desserts were both fine but after the disappointment of the first 2 courses everything felt a little flat.
Would not return.
Dear Andann,Thank you for sharing your feedback. We set a high standard for ourselves, and we’re so sorry to hear this was not met on this occasion. We only use the freshest and highest quality ingredients at Bentley's, our fish is delivered daily and our bread is baked in-house fresh every morning. So we are disappointed you were left feeling this way. We would like the opportunity to investigate your feedback further if you could get in touch with me on 02077584141 at your convenience. Jane

It’s our 4th visit to Bentley’s, previous two where business and one social, we make a visit to London once a year and we make this one of our must visit restaurants.
Great service and food, wine selection and sommelier is second to none. Oysters and shell fish where perfect and fresh as the day they where caught.
Dover sole was my main course and tasted amazing and perfectly paired with the amazing sides.
Finished with a cheese selection and a form glass of port.
Worth a visit for excellent seafood and a great locations.
Dear Kevin, Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience; our chef's will definitely be happy to read what you wrote! So thank you for your kind words and we look forward to seeing you again the next time your in London. Kind Regards, - Jane, PR Manager
Oysters were simply superb.
Very enjoyable evening
Gottaget rid of smokers though. They get the great outside area on a balmy London summers night.
The Dover sole was the best, most meaty and succulent I have ever tasted, the tuna starter albeit small was delicious and fresh with the mango. As for the Chablis to accompany the food, all felt right in the world.
We ended with the tiny segments of orange cake with a fresh lively sorbet - just delightful!
Small portions for the prices, but sitting at the bar with mellow music via the pianist in the background was just perfect.
This was the second visit to Bentelys, the service was much better on my last visit. Just not very friendly.
