The food and service were okay but our dinner was ruined by mice throughout the lower floor. The manager was professional and gave us our meal for free but they had an infestation.
far too loud - stag night ambiente and clientele kills the place - beer poorly tapped, again not expected that here - why on earth did ghey close bflgo noord???
Slow service made up for by a free bottle of Prosecco
Music a bit loud
Service was good and staff are friendly .
The starter was fabulous , but the main course (Mussels +Chips) let the restaurant down.
The mussel dishes were warm instead of steaming hot and they didn't have any flavour , these were replaced by the manager , however we found a of bad mussel which put us off the food. However the they did take cost of food off the bill .
The mussel platters are pretty good with good flavours. Filling enough with the fries. Great selection of beers too!
Great choice of food, defo worth visiting if your a mussles fan.
No issues with service and staff, all very helpfull and always smiling.
The waiters were exceptional! Paid attention to every detail and made out overall experience very good! And the food is very good for the price!
Lack of staff meant service was very slow, food overall was good. We sat down at 6pm and didn’t leave until around 9pm. With a 5yr old this was not ideal. Wouldn’t go again.
Although my husband and I made a booking through opentable, our name weren't on the list when we arrived.
After waiting for about 10min standing inside, we got a table which smells really bad and dark.
The seats were right beside men's washroom.
Also not happy about the seats were not in the main dining room, they are in the small section with a bar counter.
We asked a server to let us move to the better seats, and they did for us.
Appetisers were served before long, but it took for a while to the bucket of mussle be served.
My husband heard a bell rang that the kitchen tells dish is ready.
No Servers paied attention to it, and my husband had been seeing the mussle was sitting on the counter for about 15min.
Servers weren't seem very busy also.
It was pre theatre dinner for us, so we were in rush.
When my husband finaly asked our server where our mussles are, the server went to check and he said "it's been ready" and finaly served to us.
Food overall tasted not so fresh, pretty much something chain restaurants offer.
Adding to that, the bill showed double the price with bunch of stuff we didn't order!!
With all those bad services, I don't recommend this place.
I hope their other locations do better, but we won't go back again.
Reservation for 9 pm, orders were taken around 9:40, food arrived at around 10:15. The mussels were ok everything else including the beef flamand, the steak and some chicken and mushroom
Dish were NHS canteen level. Under-seasoned, steak chewy, unappealing presentation. You can do a lot better in SoHo.
Although we booked a table via open table, we had to wait 45mn!!!
The girls at the reception were not welcoming
Too much noise overall
They had run out of a lot of ingredients even though it was early in the evening
There was a large group of us celebrating 2 birthdays. Our waiter was brilliant with dealing with all our requests and very patient. The food was great as was the service we had.
There was a mistake however, as Belgo tend to do happy hour between 12-5pm. The 2 members of the party weren't aware of this and ordered 2 cocktails and were charged full price. When we discussed this with our waiter he was very apologetic and said he will get the Manager to look into this and get it sorted. When the Manager came, he made a point to say that it wasn't upto them to make their customers aware of any promotions that were available. Even though it states it on the menu. I felt this was a bit rude and not really looking after their customers in a good manner. I made a point that this was the only place I have been to where they state this. Most waiters make it their point at other restaurants if they have any current specials or deals. The Manager sorted it out as a goodwill gesture and the rest of the meal was brilliant. But maybe going forward they may need to change this behaviour, as a customer to have that said to me it made me feel a bit cheated by the company.
Moules mariniere was superb. However the sauce with Chorizo moules dish was disappointing as too watery. Pork belly had no crackling and the cod dish, which was not a large portion of food did not come with mash or chips. The staff were very friendly but the service was slow.
Fun spot. But dinner ended up being a bit more expensive than anticipated. I guess we should have looked at the menu closer beforehand.
Generally good food and atmosphere; however in my opinion Belgo has lost its quality slightly over the last year or so.
The “brune” beer is not available on the menu anymore, the chips served with the mussels are not triple cooked anymore.
Waiters kept coming to the table to ask us to order multiple times which got annoying, and when we were ready to leave there was nobody for a good 15 minutes who could serve us. Also being Belgian, I think the menu wasn’t very Belgian apart from the mussels...
a little bit overcooked, but not bad. the service is quite good.
they said they can not find my reservation from opentable, but still willing to help us get a table.
No thanks to Open Table my booking wasn't sent to Belgo's (the waiter showed me the booking screen on the restaurant computer) but despite this the waiter easily found me a table . I had lobster bisque while my friend had cheese and beer croquettes. The soup was very tasty while my friend enjoyed his croquettes. For mains I had half a chicken with beer gravy and sides while my partner had Toulouse sausage and mash. We enjoyed the food, music and atmosphere in the basement of the restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. This is a place to dine if you enjoy a wide selection of beer, music and simple tasty authentic food.
Staff didn't seem bothered and food was the worst our company has had in recent memory.
RUDE LAZY WAITRESSES
AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL
We have been to Belgo Soho several times and on the last visit the service was not as good as usual and the food was poor too. After a long break we thought we would go back. We are glad we did the service was excellent as was the food. I prefer the old menu but it is still a good night out at a reasonable price.
Quirky basement set up with a unique choice of cocktails bordering on summer hints. Attentive staff and good value for money.
This was our first experience at a Belgian restaurant. My wife and I ordered different kinds of mussels, and everything was terrific! It's right in the middle of the theatre district of London, so it is perfect for a pre-theatre dinner. Friendly, helpful staff, too. We will definitely return the next time we visit London!
Staff were very sweet but kept forgetting things. Food was really not good - had the savoury waffles - they had sugar in. Should have stuck to moules I reckon.
Generally the atmosphere was good, but it felt like parts of the food was not up to the 'Belgo' standards. I had the steak with salad. The steak was good but the salad seemed like it was prepared in the morning and was waiting to be served for hours.
The restaurant itself was pleasant in the atmosphere when we went in. We were seated in a sort of alcove in the basement but it was so cold many of us had to keep our coats on. When the food arrived it was either bland or overcooked and the burgers weren’t that warm. They were good enough to adjust the bill but overall the food didn’t excite and I think they were a little understaffed as the restaurant was full.
Beer was excellent as expected! However there was no beef for burgers and this was not raised to our attention in the menu. By the time we ordered the beer we had no other option but to stay in the restaurant. I find this practice unacceptable!
The food was delicious and presented in good shape, however, the place was quite small compared with Belgo central one in convent garden. And the staff were also less welcome than the other branches.
enjoyed food and ambience HOWEVER Belgo's said they hadnt gor our OpenTable reservation so glad they had free tables
Went to see Aladdin then stopped in for dinner with wife and kids. Really enjoyed the food, great range of beers, service was decent, would go again!
We had a very tasty meal with excellent service and a very friendly welcome. We would certainly go again and recommend it.
Thank goodness for an amazing manager who was efficient and friendly. Because our waiter was a disappointment 😕
•when trying to be friendly with the waiter and asked where he was from his reply was “I’d prefer not to say”
•beer served in a dirty glass that had lipstick 💄 on it 🤢
•we had 1/4 chips left and waiter came over and through them away without asking if we were finished. 🍽😟
Kudos to the manager who gave a complimentary replacement beer and chips at no charge. He saved the experience✅
5 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️........to the Manager!
Service and ambience were good but food quality is very average. And portions sizes are too big so you leave feeling quite ill.
Perfect venue for a work night out. Good food. Good beer. Good schnapps. What's not to like?!
Come here for the classic mussels - hearty and a generous portion. Enjoyable evening and good for medium sized groups, though service was a bit lacklustre. Excellent beer selection too.
We'd enjoyed the Covent Garden branch of Belgo in the past but the Soho branch was very disappointing. It was more cramped and the atmosphere seemed far less customer focused. The food was not worth the money - the half lobster had barely any meat in it, and the burger was nothing special considering the price tag. We were there pre-theatre but you wouldn't have guessed from the leisurely service we received, and the last straw is when we were kept waiting 35 minutes for our puddings before being told that the waffle machine was broken and they couldn't complete the order. We were offered complimentary dessert but we had to run for our theatre as we'd already been made late by the staff. Won't be going back to Belgo in future.
Excellent food and some great Belgium beers, service was excellent too under the watchful eye of Kris the manager.
Perfectly serviceable moules and a decent beer selection. However both food and service struggle to match the standards of the Covent Garden branch.
very enjoyable experience, decor quite Belgian and rather pleasant. Only downside was the rather loud "drum and base" and pop loud music which needs to be put more into the background rather than making comfortable conversation easy.
