Customer service was great!! Very classy ambiance.
We wanted to go somewhere with good food and music for our anniversary and Barcode made the cut!
Barcode wouldn't honor our reservations from opentable. When after arguing with one of their rude hostesses the guy in charge found us a table. Our waiter was kind but disappeared after taking a drink orders for a while. But once we place and received our orders the food was bland, all our food ( chicken tacos, spinach and artichoke dip and wings) mind you one of the dips was burnt.
Before we could complete our meals a different hostess came to our table wit a busboy and security stating our table is sold start clearing tables. We didn't take that well. And she actually came to the wrong table. After all the trouble for the beginning until that moment we were over it. I will NOT be returning to Barcode
Great atmosphere! We went there for the 90's R&B Night. Excellent staff and tasty food!
No one to greet us when we arrived. Service was very slow. They brought out one meal about 7 minutes before the others- made it awkward for that person to eat while none of the rest had food.
The music we could hear a block way. It was way to loud and when we walked it were hit by a face full of smoke. We had Reservation for 8:00 pm. We were seated at 8:03pm. Party of two seated about a minute after us and a Party of six seated 2-3 after that. The group of 6 was friend of an employee or manager. That employee asked the waiter to take the groups order, also come back and check on his friends and even delivered drinks. Party of two had to go to bar to get a drink. At 8:42 waitress finally came to our table greats us and offered us water. The whole time security stood behind my wife and talked to two other employees. We waited 39 minutes to be greeted and when I brought the issues to the waitress she seemed to not care and walked away from me while I was talking. My wife and I got up and walked to the host stand, I brought the issues to the hostess’s (3) that were standing around talking with each other and their answer was “we only have 3 wait staff”.
Came here for Valentine’s Day, great 5-course menu selection with a nice table set up. Highly recommend.
I had a great time! It was really crowded but when its a 90s R&B night it's to be expected! I'm so glad I got a table because there was nowhere to sit if you didn't reserve. I ordered the bang bang shrimp for $14 and a glass of sparkling rosé $7 pretty good if you're gonna eat light! The night was so crowded that our waitress was sweet enough to give us a free glass of wine for the wait. The music was awesome and the vibes were great! I would definitely go back! Oh and my best friend's chicken wings were bomb!! They had a nice char to it! Barcode is a new spot for me!
We had reservations for a table and instead they put us in the bar area where we didn't have a waiter. We had to go to the bar to order every time we wanted something. They didn't give us barstools, so we had to stand or hunt for our own seats and never did find enough for everyone. The pizza was decent, but do not order the tacos. They were awful. Basically threw fish sticks on a tortilla and called it a taco. Some of the other food was just okay. Go somewhere else if you want to eat.
Good pizza especially at happy hour prices
But waaaay too loud to try to have a conversation
We celebrated a friends birthday. We ordered appetizers
The ambience was great and the music was good.
Love the concept.
Tasty grilled wings and good buffalo chicken pizza. Service took a minute to notice us, but after that we were well attended to. Live DJ on Saturday night playing very good RNB classics and even a Slow Jam set which is a lost art nowadays which we both truly enjoyed! Dj encouraged everyone to sing along. We had a fun date night. Don't go for conversation because the music will be loud since it is a dinner "party", but we expected that. Thumbs up👍👍
Service was slow. Took an hour to get food. Had to order 2 drinks at a time just to get them timely.
I've been coming to Barcode for lunch since it first opened. I've always loved it until my visit this week. All of the regular servers who are so friendly and helpful were gone. My server seemed disinterested; didn't check on refilling our water. I had to ask if there were any specials for the day. Then I had to send my food back TWICE because it was not prepared as I had ordered it. The server said the kitchen didn't pay attention to the requests on the order. Anyway, it was not a good experience. I don't know if the restaurant is under new management or something else is going on, but this place will no longer be a neighborhood favorite for me.
Wendy for lunch while we were visiting National Geographic Museum. Food was okay. Restaurant looks run down or not so clean in daytime hours. Clearly it is more of an evening place.
Sadly Barcode did not pan out as we had hoped. Drinks were watered down- the cocktail list looks good, but most drinks were presented in too large of a glass, which meant the ratio of soda to booze was off. The carmalized Brussels sprouts were good, but for a “to share” plate were on the small size. Entrees came straight from the food service industry menu and were bland and not worth repeating. I would not go bavk
Great for a business lunch. Google maps took me to the wrong entrance, other than that it was great!
On a Friday night at bar, before 7:00 pm they were out of all their draft beers were not available. Very, Very loud restaurant, so if that is what you are looking for this is the place. We were not looking for this.
Not a bad place to go to if you’re looking to eat dinner in a nightclub. Wrongfully advertised. More of a night club than an eatery.
The restaurant is grimy and in need of a complete renovation. The bathrooms have smudges on the walls and a sink was running. The table tops are chipped, the material on the seat backs is worn through to the stitching.
Although the food was good, the waiter was inattentive. My guest ordered shrimp and it was brought fried (although it did not say that on the menu) and the waiter never asked (must have just guessed wrong). It was replaced with broiled fairly quickly, but the guest had to wait while I ate.
Dope great place
Went for a wings whiskey and cigar event. Bad advertising. Waitresses where ghetto, dj played same songs over and over again. Cigar event with no cigars to purchase
Arrived early for my reservation only to find that they were on a limited menu. the only option available to me was pizza which I found to be sub par. although the crust was super thin the bottom was under cooked and the sauce was too sweet. probably will not be returning.
Excellent small plates.
My boyfriend and I went to check out Bar Code’s happy hour. I was a little taken aback by the club-like noise level and decor inside the restaurant, but I’m glad I stuck it out because the rail drinks were strong and the food was great.
We ordered steak tacos, sliders, and mac ‘n’ cheese. The steak tacos were delicious and generously portioned, and at $4 each a little bit of a steal for DC. The sliders were amazing. Bar Code managed to char the patties on the outside while keeping them juicy on the inside, and the buns were in good proportion with the meat. The mac was the only slight letdown, as it was made well, but could have used more seasoning, like some heat or even a little more salt.
All in all, I’m glad I braved the loud noise level and gave Bar Code a shot. I hope to be back soon!
I booked a very late reservation for when I arrived in DC but once I walked over there around 10:30 pm it was all closed up. Why is Barcode accepting Opentable reservations up until 11 pm when they are not even open?
This casual modern restaurant is a smart alternative if you want good pizza and food that won’t leave you broke. Was also surprised they have an impressive selection of wine. Solid service and good looking staff.
Went for a business meeting. The restaurant was loud for lunch time, and the food was sub par. The burgers were thin and smaller than the buns. The salads were small, and pretty boring. The side order of fries was fine, but pricey for the size of the order. Very few meatless options. From the design of the place, it seems their target is more of a night time, drinking crowd, which is fine. Just not what we were looking for. We did not order mixed drinks, so I can’t comment on those.
I loved the venue, however, I would suggest a happy medium for the music level so that you can actually talk and not yell while eating dinner. Otherwise, the DJ was on point! His playlist was the best I have ever heard. The food and drinks were also great.
Atmosphere was great, but the food was bland. Champagne brunch*
Went for restaurant week lunch. Server was nice and gave recommendations. However, no one ever cleared our appetizer plates when they brought entrees, and they brought out dessert when we were only half way done with our entrees and they tried to take away our entrees. Plus, we had several fruit flies flying around us while we ate.
Has great time here! DJ was great. Hookah available which was nice
Came here for a friend’s 30 birthday and didn't know what to expect, as it was my first time to a day party. Went to Brunch and day party on a Saturday and it was lit! Food is amazing! Music was crank! Staff was great!! I've recommended this spot to all my close friends and family!
Went for happy hour, waiter was amazing as he had to wait by himself all night. They were out of chicken nuggets for my children and nephew but they loved the grilled wings. Great energy with the DJ.....all in all I’ll return!
Went on a Tuesday for a business lunch. Meh. Just meh.
Hostess couldn’t have cared less if we were there. Server was an odd combination of overly familiar and rude. Food was only worth 80 cents for every dollar I paid.
It was a little loud, but fun. When the bill came, gratuity was included for a our party of JUST TWO, and it was more then 20% added. Despite the fact that we waited for our "reserved" table for over 35 minutes because there was no host or anything, all the staff was outside enjoying theirselves. The experience felt like we were being robbed, I would NOT return to bar code ever again.
This was a party/dinner reservation event. It was crowded, not a great ambiance, including the people and musics and when I checked in with the hostess, she looked at me and blew smoke out of her nose and mouth at the same time because she was sitting doing Hooka instead of working. She told me she wasn’t sure if she could get our table that we had reserved at 9p since they were all taken but then said she would try to move some people. Totally UNPROFESSIONAL, so we chose to leave instead of experiencing anything more disappointing. I will never go back there.
Got there for our reservation and all the tables were filled. The hostess was Rude, no real order. Over crowded
