Wait staff was fine, even though we asked that they course out the food and it was all brought within 5 minutes of us ordering. The hosts kept lingering over our table trying to get us to leave. They even took our water glasses away. The main host actually asked us to leave and pretended he was joking- he was not. Very rude. My friends said something when we did get up and they didn’t even apologize. We were only there a little over an hour.
Birthday celebration food was fabulous and atmosphere is perfect.
Drinks and food were both amazing
We went to celebrate birthdays, not seeing each other in a while and it happened to be valentines weekend. The restaurant was packed full of red roses and valentines Mylar red heart balloons. We loved how festive they went with the decor. We had bottomless mimosas, the mezze 6 dip appetizer and brunch items. Each dish was beautiful and delicious. My son ordered fresh fruit. It was large bowl chock full of fresh blackberries, pear, apples, bananas and strawberries! So great! I ordered a wild mushroom omelet delish, two had shashuksa, two had French toast and one had steak and eggs. And one had the falafel sándwich. All were great in their own way. Perfectly seasoned. Cooked well - not over or under done. It was a great time to spend visiting and sharing some great food!
Pretty disappointed... food was average rather below standards... forced us to order everything at one go.... we ended up ordering way too much... complaint to manager but no luck ... terrible experience... drinks were super average rather a waste
We were excited to return here for Valentine's Day Weekend, as we well remember our 2nd date here. What a HUGE disappointment!!! Though the decor is really inviting and beautiful, our experience was immediately sullied by our pushy and impatient waiter.....Do we really know what we want to order 3 seconds after sitting, before our coats are off? The hummus appetizer that we recall from our previous visit was nothing memorable this time: watery and tasteless. The waiter really pushed hard for us to order the halibut special; no wonder, as it was rubbery, overly fishy, and clearly left over from the Friday Valentine's Day stockpile. My hanger steak arrived underdone and cold. Will never return, especially given that Gramercy Tavern is right next door....
had dinner with my daughter here on Valentine's Day while on a business trip. The restaurant was packed of course being a holiday, but the service and food were superb. Everything spot on. The breads, hummus, tahini and eggplant, before dinner were superb. The wine list extensive and easy to find a great bottle (including half bottles) at a reasonable price. We had brazini perfectly deboned and chicken kabobs.. among other vegetables. The service was excellent .. we never waited or were looking for next course. Everyone was friendly from hostess to the busboys. It was packed tight with tables and very loud.. but I would go back here again.. and I intend to anytime I am in NYC.. putting this on on my list of go to restaurants.
Delicious food! Outstanding service! Highly recommend!
Totally decked out for Valentines Day which was cool. What isn’t cool is making you wait for your entire party to arrive before seating you when the reservation required a credit card and was already confirmed.
Barbounia is a really wonderful restaurant. The food is great, as is the service, and the environment is really lovely. We went for Valentine's Day and they really outdid themselves- delicious specials and great decorations. We had dover sole for two (a special), salads and the iron skillet shrimp. Oh and the bread... I'd go just for that.
I love Barbounia, but they used to give the excellent bread for free. Too bad they charge now.
Really delicious food but overpriced for what it is. 2 people (one vegan) and a bottle of wine, $232!
Tables very close together, no room between tables and very small table for 2. Very, very noisy!
Best time to go, late lunch on a Saturday...
From the time you walk in, you are treated like a VIP. love this place. Ambiance is great, service very attentive and the food is great. Love the menu selections.
The staff was so friendly!!
A bit noisy. Otherwise a great place
It was an amazing experience overall. Food ambiance, and service was amazing.
Barbounia has a wonderful, creative menu. We went on Saturday night and it was packed. With a reservation, we waited 20 minutes for our table. The noise level was overwhelming and the tables so close together, we got to know the people to my right very quickly.
The servers were attentive and everything came to the table fresh and hot. The halvah dessert was a lovely, decadent surprise.
Extremely disappointing...service was erratic (we barely sat down when 3 staff came over to take drink, wine, etc...order). I obviously only had one course, but the Branzino was mediocre. Our first two wine choices were out of stock (I don't care how long the wine list is, but if it is on the list it should be in stock). Finally the wrong desert was provided....by then I had given up. And all that for a premium price!!!! Sorry won't be back....
Delicious food! Noise level rose around 5:30pm
Overall the food was really good and would come back but was a little pricey for brunch. We were only offered the group menu which we weren’t aware we had to do when we made the reservation. We were seated 30 min late and weren’t offered drinks for another 15 min so basically our drink service started 45 min late at 3pm and then they had last call at 4 before we even received our entrees. We had to pay the full bottomless brunch price and would’ve expected some courtesy round or extension of time due to the late seating and start of service.
Great food as always.
Great concept and atmosphere. The choice of cuisine is good, a lot of good mediterranean/middle-east dishes. Also nice is the never ending flow of champagne cocktails.
Great food selection and attentive service. Unlimited champagne drinks topped off the Brunch.
I like the ambience and service was great
The house desert was incredible
The drinks were great as well
food very tasty and different. service attentive. very noisy when restaurant full. tables small and very close to one another. pleasantly surprised when restaurant brought us an unexpected complementary desert. overall, a good experience. will go back for regular menu, as dishes look interesting.
The food was good. However, we felt rushed while eating.
Always the beat meal, service and ambiance
Great greek restaurant and service was outstanding!
The meal was not delicious. Period
Our appetizers were great, but frankly underwhelmed by our entrees. Our waiter also forgot the 2nd dessert we ordered and because he said it took 10 minutes to put in and order again “he owed us one” the next time we were there. Quite frankly wouldn’t go back for dinner.
Everything we ordered was Amazing! And the service was excellent as well! Will come back for sure!
Phenomenal all around! Outstanding service, delicious food & drinks, and ambiance - I’ll definitely be back again!
The service was awful. They over stuff the dining area. The food was good but service was painful. I wanted to give them money for alcohol and they were slow as snails. We weren't the only table with this problem either. Stick to work lunches here. Not brunch.
Went here for my sister's birthday. We ordered of the restaurant week menu. Food was really good and great value.
Exceptional vibe in which food and ambiance come together for a great time!
I love this place. It's Mediterian food is very good & the drinks are fabulous!
I took a group of my coworkers for lunch and we all had a great time. The food was amazing and service was great! I recommended Babournia to many of my friends. Thank you
The food is very good and love the bottomless sparkling wine. However the service left a lot to be desired. The refilling on the mimosas was very slow. Also the waiter at one point dropped my bread on the floor and then cleaned it but never offered to bring me a replacement or comp us for the dish. Was very disappointed with the service.
Well seated onTime plus, the noise level massive noise
Made the best of it decor still Christmas not so bad
Had to keep asking bus boys for stupid things salt pepper
Napkins small things the waiter should have done
Waiter wasn’t as attentive as he should have been
Charged extra for pita bread after we ordered a massive dip Appy very tacky! Food not great just okay
Wonderful Mediterranean food. Great service. Beautiful restaurant. Neighborhood find.
