Lovely and quiet atmosphere, kind of an “old-world” ambiance.
We were a party of 2 on July 17. It was a very warm day, however, the AC was nonexistent! The heat made us very uncomfortable, to the point of being nearly unbearable. I was pretty much ignored until the other member of my party arrived (while I desperately needed some cold water). The food was very good though and prices were reasonable. With all that said, I would try it again in any season other than summer and would love to sit in the garden terrace at some point.
Beautiful garden or air conditioning available. Good food and service. Convenient to the theater for lunch or dinner
Never had the chance to try them. There was a blackout that night that shut down midtown Manhattan.
We’ll be trying again soon
The service, food, and the amazing hostess were delightful. Unfortunately, it was the night of the blackout so it got a little steamy before the total shutdown. All in all, I can't wait to go back.
I’m not sure why this restaurant has 4 stars on open table, which is why we went. The service was good but the food was bland. My beet salad was just that. Beets sliced on a plate. My chicken dinner was a clump if fennel, some roasted tomatoes and a decently cooked but bland piece of chicken. There are a lot better places to go for the same price in NYC.
Excellent restaurant, especially in nice weather when youcan eat in the garden. You do not feel like you are in the middle of NYC.
Sitting in the garden you would believe you were in the hills of Italy. The food is outstanding and a great value with appetizer, salad, entrée and desert included. The pears in red wine were extraordinary. I had the pasta for an appetizer and the pork crown roast so lean but so moist. The sald was so crisp but very dark green arugala. It is my fovorite restaurant even when I do not go to the theater.
Beautiful atmosphere on a lovely night in the garden. Delicious food and attentive wait staff. Sommelier was superlative; helpful and informative. All in all, a wonderful dining experience.
The service, ambiance, and food was wonderful. We enjoyed the pre-theater menu, which is a great deal. Sitting inside this lovely restaurant and looking out at a lovely courtyard (it was raining so we couldn’t enjoy the outside seating), we felt more like we were in the French Quarter of New Orleans, rather than just a few blocks off of Time Square. We will definitely revisit this venerable restaurant.
Too stuffy and old-school. Not a relaxed atmosphere at all.
We love the pre-fix menu!! ❤️
Excellent meal and service.
The service is discreet but attentive, the food outstanding, and I love the garden!
Loved sitting in the beautiful garden to enjoy my friend's birthday lunch. The food was very good, but the service, for this caliber of restaurant, was a bit disappointing.
It is a new ve restaurant to go on special occasion
Love Barbetta. Wonderful food and so beautiful. The owner came out to the garden to greet us, shes lovely and so welcoming. Can’t wait to return. Next time bringing friends too. Heidi
Nice staff, great food, good service--go there..........................:)
This was a very big disappointment. Clearly, my memories of this place did not serve me well.
An Unexpected Gem in the Theater district. Food and service were superb
Enjoyed, perfect for pre theater
Service was incredible. The best place for a special occasion or anniversary.
Great ambience if you sit in the garden, which is quiet and discreet. This restaurant has a very good wine list, and the food was excellent, although the menu was a bit limited. The interior seems dated and a little faded. The garden is the place to eat in.
There were surprisingly few patrons for a Friday night. When we left at 10:15 there was no one else there. Could be the prices. This restaurant should be classified as $$$$, not $$$ as it is shown on Open Table.
We were a party of 6 and the wine and food were both excellent, so for us, it worked.
This is an amazing restaurant. Always a go to git pre theater dinner.
We have been here a number of times - it is always wonderful from soup to dessert. The room is beautiful, the service perfect and the food is delicious.
The ambience is wonderful - beautiful, peaceful, inviting! the food was beyond delicious! We sat in the bar area first just to experience the room and had a drink with a little snack. We were going to the theater and had the special menu - everything was perfect!
Food was not top quality, but good atmosphere
This was a pre-theatre dinner. The food was superb as was the service. The garden is beautiful but we chose to eat inside since it was so hot.
Service and atmosphere were exceptional. I wish they had an a la carte menu rather than pre-theater prix fixe.
Pre-theater dinner date- outstanding meal with superior service!
Lovely outdoor seating. Pre-theater menu very nice and well priced
Waiter was inattentive and had only prix fixe menu until 8 with no prior nortice
I love everything about Barbetta and always have. It's my happy place in the theatre district for the wonderful food, service and ambiance. Too much about New York is changing please let Barbetta stay the same great restaurant it's always been. And the garden in the summer is heaven.
Sat outside in the lovely garden on a beautiful day. The setting is so rare in NYC. This is a gem of a place where the history of New York is treasured. The food is very good, but one comes here for the full experience.
This is our go-to restaurant when we go to the theater. The service is excellent, and the food is good. The atmosphere is a throw back to earlier days and a pleasant change from the NYC bustle. You can actually hear your conversation. The garden room is delightful. Definitely recommended.
Had great table in garden and food and service great.
The food was just OK
They also offered only a preheater three course dinner unless you objected
Would not go back
Second time dining here at Barbetta for my husband & I before going to see a broadway play. Second time we had Eduardo as our waiter, too!! Second time we dined in the garden!!! Cheese buttons awaiting for us on the table looked pretty but were extremely dry and were not good quality. A better choice would have been to have those delicious rosemary rolls cut in half topped with bruschetta & basil. Was slightly surprised to learn there was a price fixe...although Eduardo said we could probably get whatever we wanted but there was no full menu tempting our palate for alternative dishes. Wouldn’t have minded it except we both ordered an entree that had additional charges of $7 & $10 on top of the $59 per person. My pasta appy was great as was husband’s beet salad. My swordfish was a tad dry but still tasty on the bed of lentils and my husband’s filet mignon was good although the scalloped potatoes were dry. Dessert was good, too. All in all, Barbetta’s atmosphere, energy and dining experience is worth a trip!
Barbetta Restaurant is my favorite restaurant in Manhattan. I have lunch in their beautiful garden patio a few times per month. It is truly a wonderful experience, with fabulous food, phenomenal service and exquisite surroundings. The interior dining room is simply elegant as well. This restaurant is perfect for any occasion, be it a day out with the girls, a pre-theater lunch/dinner, or the celebration of a very special event. From the street, you would never know how lovely the restaurant is. This restaurant is a MUST!
