The menu at Bar Melusine changes every single day to take complete advantage of seasonal ingredients. Meals often include oysters in a cucumber and lemon sauce, Manila clams with purple potatoes, smoked leg of lamb and buckwheat crepes filled with smoked ham and camembert. Don't leave without trying the apple butter cake or the canel de Bordeaux with an ounce of dark rum.
Great Cap Hill dining spot with interesting menu and outstanding friendly service. Many fresh oyster choices and nice selection of small plate offerings.
The oysters were great, fresh and great presentation. The beet salad was also quite good. The frites and crepe were a tasteless disappointment. I won’t go back, I felt it was overpriced and not worth the money or the aggravation of trying to find parking.
We had reservations for an early dinner so we could catch a movie, the staff seemed annoyed that we were there so close to the time of opening. We asked the waiter a couple of questions about the decor as that was a major draw to the restaurant and his responses were “I don’t know”
This is an expensive restaurant with a 20% tip included in the bill. I guess that answers the question “what is the incentive to provide good service if the tip is included?” Response “ none”
Will not go back
Lovely evening and the premium price is justified by the quality of the ingredients and the august service.
If was real good. You should go to there
The food is ALWAYS GOOD at Bar Melusine but it was especially a treat to be having dinner with 3 different tastes of Pierre Gerbais Champagne AND meet the producer AND buy a bottle at retail prices is I chose! Thanks again!
Everything is amazing and unique on the menu. The hamburger is the best I've ever had as far as flavor and what happens in your mouth: Love!
Epic fail on service
30+ mins late on holding reservation
A group of four went before the theatre and tried several items - shared everything. Very small portions so not that easy to share. Liked the house made chilli sauce. Creative recipes for some items such as the carrots and the radiccio salad. Good but not great food. A pleasant environment with good service.
Great food, service, cool ambiance, in a great location in Capitol Hill.
Excellent food - very well paced and outstanding service.
cramped, small tables. Waiter didn't seem to care. very noisy. food was good but overpriced, even for seattle
Amazing meal and wine. Get the melon and roasted fennel salad. It's divine! So are the fries.
WoW. Fantastic experience from start to finish! Outstanding French inspired tapas menu with wonderful dishes and wines, great ambiance and outstanding service. Couple highlights were seasonal tomato salad with nectarines in a fromage blanc sauce; Dijon sauce steamed local clams and smoked lamb!!! Delicate Peach tartelette finished off the feast. A++. Great for dates or just a nice meal and glass of wine at the bar.
Horrible service. Food took 90 mins to come out and server was rude and when we asked to see a manager and they said she’d be right over she never came.
Forgot “seafood “ as a Seattle genre (of the past). This is Seattle locals’ local Locavore neighborhood destination/ destination neighborhood haunt to relish delectable shared plates of....yes, the very best damn fresh shellfish prepared simply and tastily and exquisitely. I should know. I live several blocks away. I’m a locavore growing my own produce. Renee E. is the “it” girl of our town. It doesn’t get better.
Wonderful service and a fun variety of food!
Our server was unfriendly and cold. You could tell she didn’t like her job and it , sadly, negatively affected our dining experience
Great place, great food, great service but the noise was too much.
The oysters were amazing! I had to get the best part out first.
We are from out of town and had dined at 3 of Renee Erikson's other establishments. When making travel plans the memories of her seafood were in my head so I decided to try another of her restaurants. Bar Melusine did not disappoint. As stated above the oysters were to die for. They had 6 varieties on the menu and we had several of each. We had multiple other items on the menu which were all great. The only item that made a few people in the group a little hesitant were the fries with eyes. They are fried smelt. They tasted great but you had to be OK with the whole fish. Cocktails were great. The service and the ambience were both wonderful. All in all it was a great experience and I am hoping to get a chance to go back.
Charming, delicious,, environmentally and socially conscientious, a fave
So yummy!!! We went on Moules Frites Monday and it was so good. Our table tried pretty much everything and we were not disappointed. Very pleasantly surprised by the cod cakes- I thought they tasted better than most crab cakes I’ve had. Highly recommend for an early or late night date or girls night!
Great oysters and wonder fried oysters too rivals Florida oysters
Service was attentive yet relaxed. The food was awesome, so were the cocktails. Took my parents, they can’t stop raving about it.
Fantastic service, excellent recommendations, unique menu options, very cool vibe.
Oysters were amazing and varieties were plentiful. Small plates like the frites, peach ricotta crepe, roasted carrots with sheeps cheese and cod cakes were equally as good. Cod cakes could have been a bit bigger for $16.00 for two small cakes. Service was outstanding - we will come back for sure!
Excellent meal and service as always, shared with foodie friends visiting from Tokyo. Wonderful time enjoyed by all.
Great small plate food selection, best time to sample is during one hour happy hour when the fried oysters (4) are $7. The discounts on beverages are minuscule ($1) and the $4 oysters are $3 during HH. The full menu is an interesting read but if you want to order a drink, glass of wine, beer, you must rely on your server to cut through the cute drink copy not to mention a very precious wine list only a sommelier would enjoy (and could interpret). Great smelt dish, very good steak tartare, burger very tasty but almost laughed at the small size, looked like a burger for the children's table. Big flavor though. We'd reorder it at another HH. Pleasant, bright surroundings, Attentive service when we arrived at opening. Hostess very cheerful.
Delicious and unique brunch fare! We shared the salmon rillette, buckwheat crepe with grilled peaches, cod cakes, and croque madame and all were delicious. Plus we had some delicious oysters. Great service, nice ambiance, a great brunch experience!
Our dinner was excellent! Oysters were a highlight, cocktails are pridefully crafted and delicious, and our tapas bites were very enjoyable. Highly recommend!
Everything was wonderful.
We had a great time...excellent food and service...we'll be back!
Amazing service, beautiful atmosphere and delicious food!
This place is a delightful find. The decor is light and airy, and the noise level was reasonable despite the fact that the restaurant was full. All of the flavors were so fresh and interesting. We shared the buckwheat crepe with peaches, the cod cakes, and the octopus. All were fabulous, but I especially liked the crepe. Not cheap, but also didn't feel ripped off. Would love to try their happy hour sometime.
We went for the Monday night Moules-Frites special. $30 for 2 people, plus $20 for a bottle of perfectly drinkable rosé. This is a bargain. We also had delicious cocktails to start, a green salad, and an incredible cherry galette. Good service, we will be back.
We had a wonderful time here! The restaurant is adorable, drinks amazing, and wait staff was kind and friendly! They knew it was our anniversary and went out of their way to make us feel special! We are not from Seattle but will now visit each time we are in town!
We love Bar Melusine and go there often! This time was just not a great experience. They forgot our coffee then never returned to fill it, forgot to bring out the bread and butter that we ordered until we reminded them and finally received it at the end of our meal. The salad that I always order hardly had any bacon and seemed to lack something. The oysters and cod cakes were superb as always. But, having raved about Bar Melusine, we brought friends who were less than impressed. The service is what made the experience so blah. Bummer.
Excellent drinks, food, and service! And such a lovely space!
The food was terrible and it was rather shocking how bad it was, frankly.
Limp old salad greens, slivers of octopus and poorly prepared fried food.
I LOVE Bar Melusine. The staff, the food, the drinks, the vibe...all of it is spot on.
