What Insiders Are Saying
Bar Cantinetta is a small, quiet Italian restaurant in Capitol Hill with homemade pasta, pizzas, and a lot of romantic feels.
Had friend from out of town. He has a ton of dietary restrictions and it was still a beautiful meal
Fabulous food and beyond service
100000000 thumbs up
We went to Bar Cantinetta for a date night and we’re seriously impressed. The ambience, food, and service were simply amazing. We will definitely be making this a regular spot!
We had a lovely evening enjoying the intimate setting. The starters were all delicious, especially the dates and beef carpaccio. The risotto was just like in Italy. And the tiramisu was a perfect ending to the meal. The cocktails and wine were also delicious. The service was attentive with great suggestions. We will definitely return.
Getting popular for the outdoor dining.
Also, this leaves a lot of room for inside tables which are as good as ever.
Seems to be attracting even more of serious later diners.
This has become one of my absolutely favorite places in the city. I love to sit at the bar and have a glass of wine and watch the food being made. Janine is a wonderful bartender, friendly and warm. I go to Cantinetta because the Bolognese is the best I have ever tasted. I think about it when I'm not there. And when I am there, and the dish is placed before me, with the wine ... ah. Life makes sense.
Our server was fabulous. Attentive, relaxed and obviously proud of where she worked. the atmosphere is lovely. The food was delish! We will definitely be back!
1. The food is excellent - we had the olives, burrata, and insalata mista to start, then Amatriciana (x2) and Bolognese for pasta courses, and then finished with the steak. All cooked perfectly and with amazing flavors and textures.
2. The service is always great and friendly. Hugo and Kate are bright, interested, and attentive, and they make excellent recommendations.
3. The price point, which for three with drinks, dinner mentioned above, and dessert was $210, is more than reasonable for the quality of the food and the service. I have not found this quality of authentic Italian in Seattle for less. To be fair, I haven't found this quality of authentic Italian in Seattle...but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
We love this place and it's a regular on our date night rotation! I'm just waiting for them to put the Carbonara on the menu again, as it's the best I've ever had outside of an amazing place just outside of Rome (sorry, that's a ridiculous statement...I know).
Overall, the experience was very good. The only real downside was that they ran out of pizza dough, which cut the menu by about half. Also, they ran out of mascarpone cheese, which was an element to the dessert we shared.
The food was delicious, though, and service was attentive.
We love Bar Cantinetta. It is our favorite spot in Madison Valley.
Great food and cozy space. Our server had a great knowledge of the wine they offered.
It was a little warm inside, but other than that it was a great spot. The food is soooo good. Fried artichoke is a must
For the first time, we dined al fresco.
It was quiet, private, warm, and very repeatable.
Food and service were excellent, but choices limited. Also pretty noisy. But, we'll be back. An excellent bistro style choice.
Thanks for Another great dining experience at Bar Cantinetta! Diverse wine list. Burrata appetizer was delicious. The carpaccio was on the Very small portion size. Parpadelle and pizza were amazing. Tiramisu was on the large size and scrumptious.
The food is great and definitely worth a visit. The ambiance, not so much. My friend and I spent the evening yelling at each other as the tables were very close (so close we even struck up a conversation with the neighboring table) and the restaurant very noisy.
Excellent service and food. Fresh homemade pasta cooked just the way I like it and perfectly seasoned.
If you go to be seen.
This may not be the likeliest place in town.
On the other hand, if you go to enjoy,
benefit from great food, be served by people who are interested,
and would like to be seen by special people
who you did not expect.
this is probably is a good choice.
Everything was great except one of the woman servers had very noisy shoes, it was super annoying she walked by behind us.
Extremely charming neighborhood Italian gem. Keep in mind the space is very tight and seating is limited so reservations are a must.
Love Bar Cantinetta! Chef Jaeger is amazing!
Carrie our server is so friendly & very attentive & fun! So enjoyed our evening ~
Delicious food, great service and charming romantic ambiance.
Picked this place out while staying in Seattle for a long weekend. What a great find! Staff were kind and attentive, and the wine was excellent! even though they had to close early due to a mechanical issue we didn’t feel like they rushed us out - they wanted us to enjoy our meal to the fullest. We will be back for sure!
Always great service and perfect specialty cocktails!
The food is excellent! I have never had a bad dish here. The Mista salad is a must have time. The crab risotto was perfectly flavored and fresh tasting. I had the steak, which my wife tried and said she loved, even though she doesn’t like steak. It was tender and perfectly salted. The atmosphere is warm and the service is knowledgeable and accommodating. We love this place.
Food is good, but not enough selection for those who like more veggies, fish and lighter choices. Service was friendly and accommodating, although very slow, perhaps due to under-staffing.
We have been here a few times. This was our first bad experience. Food was good as usual, the bartender was great, as was the host, but our waitress was a confused basket case.
It wasn’t overly busy, and our order was simple and straightforward. The bartender did his best to make a bad situation acceptable for my wife’s birthday, and that was appreciated.
I’m hoping this was just a bad night and it was our turn to be the unlucky table. We love the food and we will be back.
Outstanding food and service. Highly recommend it.
Beautiful tiny place with amazing food, ambience and drinks!! Definitely check it out.
Great food and friendly service in a cozy neighborhood restaurant. The clams, stuffed dates and Caesar were crave-worthy. Good cocktails and wine by the glass.
We tried sitting at the counter last night, watching the staff do magic.
We were astounded that the Chef and part owner,
personally new what we would likely order,
and how we wished it prepared.
We had never talked to him before.
These people really care.
I love this restaurant. The food, staff and drinks are always great. They were very accommodating with this reservation because my large party had to decrease in size.
We love going here. The food is always amazing and the service is always great.
Very nice food as well as great setting. The only complaint was the poor ventilation in the restaurant.
My clothes had to be aired out for 2 days in order to get the "food" smell out of them.
Love Bar Cantinetta:)! Delicious salads, pizzas and wine. Great service as always!
Carrie is attentive and Kate treats us like family.
Wonderful, as always.
Delicious food, cozy atmosphere & impressive service on a busy Friday night. Been a long time patron of the Wallingford location & this was my first visit to Bar Cantinetta. Charming & intimate- loved the vibe. Amazing gnocchi & bolognese, delicious butternut squash soup & amazing French bread. I’ll be back for sure!
Always a good meal and the ambience is great for a date.
Bar Cantinetta did not have a table for us. They said that Open Table reserves tables despite the fact that they are full. Very frustrating.
Great experience. Recommend sitting at the counter. Chefs are friendly. Hugo, the bartender, makes a great drink.
We were looking forward to this spot, but the food quality was very mixed. Delicious beet salad and carrot salad, but flavorless gnocchi, room-temperature pasta with bland sauce, tough flank steak, and unimpressive tiramisu. We won’t return.
