The restaurant is fine, the waitress/ waitresses were very attending, BUT we were celebrating my husband’s bday and is truly nothing special, worst part, he ordered the steak fritters and it was so tough he couldn’t even chew it! He let the waitress know and she said “of course I will change it”
She came back 5 minutes later with a message from the chef, he said to let us know their steak is hard, so no guarantee the second one will be any better.
It wasn’t! I tried it myself and it was like chewing on leather!
Desserts and drinks were lovely
Slow service, lack of attention...
but overall pleasant Bistro
This should have been great. It wasn’t even close to being great. The whole day had been planned as we were going to Hyde Park in the evening, so it should have been a very special day, with a decadent lunch. I chose from the a la carte menu. So exciting I thought, love a French onion soup, believe you me it was the best offering on a pretty poor menu. It was diabolical. I ate it because I was hungry. I have eaten better onion soup out of a tin, over sweetened with a really bad ‘crouton’. I say crouton because it really was just the one. I chose Nicoise Salad for my main course, again not ideal, as the choice is limited. Now I have eaten some great Niçoise salads. This was not one of those. No French beans, no anchovies, no black olives, no capers no egg. There were four pieces of tuna loin the size of fifty pence pieces and four pieces of tinned tuna, each the size of a pea. So this Niçoise salad consisted of lettuce tomato and Tuna. It was priced at £21. I asked the waiter if he thought this was acceptable, he was baffled. So I asked him to remove it and bring the menu so I could choose something else. He disappeared and five minutes later I saw him clearing another table, I was still waiting for the menu. So I stood up and walked over to the manager, he wasn’t too interested in my salad story so I simply asked for another menu. I could go on but I think you get the picture. If you’re looking for something special. DO NOT go here.
Fantastic food and service. A great treat, at no point did we feel out of place or rushed. Just perfect
The experience would have been complete if there were more vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. Also, you don't really cater for lactose intolerance or coeliacs.
Horrible service and over priced. Apparently the terrace is a "pop up" now with a set menu and a minimum spend per person. Ridiculous
Horrible service. Food was average. Someone who appeared to be the manager and two servers were fawning over a table with a man with ripped jeans and two similarly clad women, while we waited 20 minutes for someone to check on us and clear the table after we finished eating. We ran out of wine and water, and had to flag a server to get more. No one checked on us to see if our food was correct. We had eaten Daniel the last time we were in New York, compared to Daniel this is a very poorly run McDonald's with cold fries. Avoid at all cost.
The steak frites was just okay... the steak was a big tough but the fries were perfect. The pesto dish my husband had was mediocre though there was an interesting foam on it. It didn’t add to the flavor really. The service was a bit off as we had to wait for our drinks and refills. We’ve had better meals at DBoulud’s other restaurants in Miami.
Overall a disappointing choice.
For a very nice meal in Knightsbridge, which is expensive but doesn't break the bank, this is a great place to go. Loved the food, and the team were friendly and helpful.
Got 50% off with the code app as I’m a chef. Was still only just worth the price. £24 burger was not worth it. Just go to patty and bun. Or if you want a good meal go to Elystan street.
We went for a family lunch and had an extremely pleasant experience. The mains were very tasty and elegantly presented. The desserts were simply stellar!
Have been going since it opened - but less and less. The restaurant is in decline- food is getting worse - very dull flavors-if they would focus on food as much as they do on wine there may be hope. My guests mentioned that the one in NY is far better. That's it for me.
Fabulous food and execution, professional and skilled staff, lovely environment
Great food, service very friendly but a little slow to being the wine! The wine was overpriced.
It was nothing short of outstanding. The food was absolutely fantastic and the staff were wonderful
I have been here a few times already this year and it’s the first time for me to dine this year.
the service is always there very MO style regardless it’s fine dining or bistro restaurant.
the portions are getting smaller I think compared with previous time however won’t complain about the price.
the desert which I had was a highlight really enjoyed
Popped in as we were in the area. Not usually our type of place, but the food certainly was worth going for. The BB Burger is a treat, and that foie gras and short rib topping does leave you feeling well fed. The tartare starter was also one of the best this diner has had.
Only let down was the dessert, which my partner chose. She felt the Baba au Rhum was a bit dry, but the staff were only too glad to provide lashings of extra cream.
Service was very, very good.
Lovely girl cleverly up sold us two glasses of champagne, on receiving bill this was £45.00! Food very good in my case , courgette flowers and hanger steak but my friends foie gras looked a little plain on the plate with a dab of chutney and her second course of fried seafood was also a little disappointing. Up selling also included a portion of chips that was not needed as my steak came with enough for two and a vast salad.
From the Moment you come in they make you feel extremely welcome.... everyone was very attentive and gave us an outstanding service. Not even talk about the Argentinian sommelier was very knowledgable and gave us the best advise.
We really appreciate all the attention from the waiters and are really happy with the service and the food. They made out of our birthdays celebration a Fantastic day!
We will be coming back soon congratulations to all!
Thank you very much.
I've eaten at the Bar Boulud in Washington DC and the London restaurant was even better. The service was outstanding, the sommelier was extremely helpful, and food was perfectly prepared. I had the duck and the burrata, my wife had the sea bass. Amazing.
We were having a family brunch and the service was excellent fulfilling our every need.
Great service, amazing food and a really nice relaxed ambience. So glad we went and will definitely be back!
I could have that beef tartare and duck confit and octopus every other day of the week! Keep coming back and now the menu seasonally changed so even better. Keep up being the best Bar Boulud.
The food was okay but I was expecting something a little more refined . Overall but disappointing
Great, except the standard glass of Bordeaux was poor.
The food was good. the venue and ambience are great and the staff are very attentive!!
The meal was very good, the staff were very pleasant and could not do enough for us. It was very good value and there was a pleasant relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant.
Staff was cleaning the entire time prepping for closing hours which was super distracting & uncomfortable...also made you feel rushed, despite booking well before closing.
Chaotic w servers not knowing what was available or how food was prepared or saying they had w dish/item but then didn’t.
Food - almost or actually inedible.
- Escargot was so salty, it was unbearable & you could not eat it.
- Grilled Octopus was overcooked & tough
- Dessert was like styrofoam in texture & had no flavour
Also was celebrating a birthday, which I put in the notes when booking. Staff did not bring dessert/candle till after we paid & were walking out!
Then we had to sit down & asked them for the inconvenience of it all to at least afford a glass of champagne each, which they did but as walking out after (again) they chased us & said the manager said we have to also pay despite their mistake
Music was horrendous too.
Cannot believe this restaurant considering the notoriety of The Chef & hotel but will never go back & also encourage any of my friends, etc to not go bc other patrons that night said they had the same experience
Great place, the service and food were excellent. I would recommend
Went for lunch with my husband and friends.
All the staff were very friendly and professional.
The food was absolutely amazing.
We couldn't fault a single thing.
We have already recommended the restaurant to friends, and will continue to do so.
We will definitely return.
Well done to you all.
10 out of 10.
Food as ever was fab, Table was terrible. I don't pay those prices to hear someone in the kitchen screaming service every couple of minutes. Heat from the kitchen was too much too
One of my favourite go-to’s. Great food, great wine list and always very warming, friendly and helpful service.
Excellent casual dining experience. Well known for their Boulud burgers and cocktails.
Perfect for lunch with friends , delicious food but what made it special was the attentive service without being smothering
From the welcome at the reception desk to Steffano our waiter, to the very helpful Sommelier everything was fantastic! Then the delicious food arrived! Thank you for reminding us how we love the Mandarin Oriental Hotel!
Consistently excellent! Service is great, food delicious & lovely atmosphere. Perfect for any occasion!!
Thank you for a wonderful time at Bar Boulud last Saturday. It was my daughter's birthday treat and we were very well looked after - I'll be recommending you to all my friends.
The staff were extremely attentive without being over bearing. The food was good, for a casual meal. We had the set lunch menu which at £24 for three courses and a coffee/tea is exceptional value. If you want a nice casual lunch or a place for a business meeting then I would definitely recommend Bar Boulud.
The steak (with the steak frites) was not up to the standard of everything else, a bit tough and not much taste.
