Had the blackened swordfish it was salty and dried out. Chef Bob was not there Wednesday night. Lobster bisque was great. We've eaten there many times over the years this was not their best effort.
Backfin blues is a great restaurant! Located in a cute little town in port deposit. I have been many times and have never been disappointed! Definitely a must try.
Great brunch menu! Great service and food! I had the Chesapeake eggs Benedict. Excellent! And I love their Bloody Mary!
New year’s brunch
BackFin is usually very good but this time not so much. They were using the New Years eve menu on January 2 and with few options the prices were outrageous. Again, I would not have cared too much if the food was outstanding. It wasn't. I got the surf and turf and while the steak was tender there really wasn't much taste to it and the jumbo ship on top had no seasoning or topping and it was dry to the taste. On top of that our server Arial was really not into giving us a great experience. I had to ask for bread, refills and one person from our party of 6 had to get up to ask her for a drink from the bar. Just seemed she was more into her phone then checking up on her customers; especially a party of six were the lowest price dinner was $47. We love BF and will go back, we just didn't have a good experience this time.
We loved our meals, and the laid-back, relaxed vibe. This place NEVER disappoints.
We have come here several times now. Most recently for my birthday. The food has always been excellent. Well worth the price paid. The service on our last trip was very good too. I wish I remembered the name of our server. She was so nice and and helpful with our selections.
You can't go wrong with Backfin Blues. The food is outstanding, as is the service and atmosphere. It's fine dining in a casual atmosphere.
I am still completely blown away by the meal we had at Backfin. I am from FL where seafood is plentiful, but there is nowhere in FL that could possibly top this place. We all had the Stuffed Shrimp, and I expected shrimp with stuffing on top. What arrived at the table was one of the most outstanding dinners ever. The shrimp was tucked under the most delicious crab imperial. There was so many flavors happening with this dish I cannot adequately describe it. Simply delicious. And then there were the broken potatoes. So good. If you find yourself anywhere near Port Deposit, MD, and you like crab, do not miss the opportunity to go to Backfin.
Backfin blues never disappoints. Stuffed shrimp is my favorite. My husband loves mako shark and was super happy to see this on the menu. Delicious
Great food and service as always.
The appetizers and main courses were hot and delicious. However, the side dishes vegetables and starch arrived either lukewarm or almost cold. I guess that the kitchen needs to pay more attention to temperature control when plating.
I love this place! It's my favorite restaurant. The food is consistently delicious and the service is excellent.
I can't say enough good things about it. Omg try the Filet au poivre!!!It is insanely good. The chocolate lava cake is so yummy too.

Advice to customers, IF is raining, DO NOT park at the foot of the restaurant. Park on a hill or incline. It was raining lightly when we got there. So I parked at the back level parking area. After torrential rain while dining, my wife and I had to traverse the flooded back parking area that had about 4 to 5 inches of water to get to our car.
The food was fantastic. My husband got the breakfast pasta and couldn’t stop eating it, (even though he was already very full). We will definitely be making the trip from Baltimore to try some more of your delicious dishes in the very near future.
Never disappointed here. Had the filet and it was perfectly cooked and you could have cut it with a butter knife. Had a crab on crostini appertizer and I’m not sure what the sauce was but it was a home run.
We enjoyed the food and service. Lobster was great and so was the stuffed shrimp. Only negative was the game show volume on the TV. It was louder than the background music. It took away from our dining experience.
This is one of our favorite places. We look forward to their email each week to see the imaginative offerings. The food is always delicious and service outstanding.

Unfortunately our special dinner last night was a disaster ... something you would expect from Golden Corral !
My wife’s crab cake was excellent .... initially .. her broccoli was cold ... actually ice cold like it came out if the fridge .. she asked to have it heated and they obviously just put the whole plate in a microwave because when she got it back she said the crab cake was dry and tasteless ! That’s the good part
My meal was the $30 Queen cut of prime rib ordered medium rare but when the waitress delivered it , it was about 1/8 of an inch thick and well done ... couldn’t have been more than 10 ounces ( for a Queen cut ) and it was obvious that it had been reheated and NOT cut from a freshly cooked rib roast . So the waitress looked at it and agreed that it was well done and she took it back ... the NEW prime rib was now even smaller .. maybe 8 ounces .. and cut in an angle so 1/2 of it was really well done and the rest was medium . .. I asked the waitress what she thought and she said it was very small and well done again .. I asked where Bob was and she said he was out of town and my response was that Bob would have NEVER let this meal out of his kitchen to which she agreed . Our waitress was excellent and handled the situation very well .. we were very cordial and only expressed our sadness that the food had gotten this poor .
Our waitress went to her manager and explained the situation and she gave us a gift card that PARTIALLY covered my meal which we graciously accepted BUT the manager could’ve come out to apologize to long term customers but she chose not to .
My hunch us that Bob isn’t coming back to oversee his restaurant and unfortunately this is what Backfin will become in short time ... a high priced restaurant with average to worse food ....
Food was good but they made us use cheap plastic cutlery and paper napkins because they ran out of silverware and cloth napkins.
Over priced kids meals. Twirly pasta with butter on it and 4 medium sized shrimp on top for $15. Regular pasta and marina $9 plus drink price. Calamari appetizer was fried with fried bell peppers so you could not remove the peppers or tell what was calamari or peppers until you ate it and the amount of peppers definitely were doubled the amount of calamari you got. For 2 kids meals, 2 entrees, sodas and 2 appetizers bil was over $120. Very pricey for what you get
Stuffed shrimp was excellent, and our waitress was very attentive, even though we were seated outside. Food was prepared well.
Backfin Blues is awesome. Every meal I have ever had here was fantastic. There is a true chef in the kitchen. This place is a gem with varied and excellent food and a menu that changes to keep you coming back over and over!!
Took my family in for a nice brunch. Everything was wonderful. We plan to go again soon.
The menu was somewhat limited for the evening. We had the crab dip for an appetizer, as there were no clams. I had the standard twin crabcakes and birthday hubby had the sea bass. We both had sweet potatoes and Brussels sprouts for sides. We had a nice bottle of Malbec. I thought everything was fine, but hubby said that he did not like the sea bass. Apparently, the bass did not like him either, as he had digestive problems for the rest of the evening.
An unexpected find in Port Deposit. Food and ambience were very nice. Recommended.

The food was amazing and the service was great too. I have only one issue and it was with another customer who was sitting directly behind our tables at a table in the bar area who was so loud and vulgar with her language I couldn't even hear what my husband was saying to me. Fortunately she didn't arrive until dessert otherwise I truly believe I would have had to ask the staff to either ask her to tone it down or move us to another table. I heard more F bombs in 30 minutes than I have heard in 6 months!
