Anthony's HomePort - Des Moines
Great food! A nice birthday dinner with my family.
The service was impeccable, the food was delicious, our table was ready when we arrived at our reservation time. It doesn't get any better than that. Our server Tori was really, really good.
Anthony's presented our group of four yet another grand birthday dinner. It's one of my top go-to restaurants and never ceases to please.
The food was perfect, from appetizers through dessert with good menu choices. We'll be back soon!
Husband, daughter and I went on a Friday night. Enjoyed a calming evening together.
Everything was great except the food could have been hotter (temperature wise)
Our waitperson was rude and tried to get us out quickly. The food was just ok small portions. More rice than anything else on the plate.
Wonderful waitress and support staff for a birthday celebration. A sad day because our Mother died the day before.
It was a great dining experience as always but this time the chef prepared some astounding dishes that I can only describe as comfort meets exotic. My mussels came on a bed of mashed potatoes (yes, mashed potatoes) that were in a sauce laced with saffron and other herbs that were absolutely divine. My friend ordered a smoked salmon appetizer that also came with a dollop of mashed potatoes. All the dishes were so surprisingly tasty.
Our anniversary lunch. Table by the window. Everyone was very nice. The atmosphere was very warm and enjoyable. Love to do it again.
The salmon appetizer was great even if it seems weird to look at! Port tenderloins were flavorful and so tender. I loved the mousse
Food was good, not too crowded so there was no rush, noise level was low and our server Courtney was excellent
This is one of the best meals we have had at Anthony's - Des Moines. We had two great meals here during the Holidays. Good to see they are keeping their standards high.
We brought our grandkids here as they were in town for Christmas from Iowa. Checked the internet for cost as we would be there during their Sunset Dinner time. Website said the cost per meal would be 19.95 - this was not the case. Meals ranged between $23-$29 dollars. We enjoyed our meal but wish the website was accurate as we had not intended to spend $150 but the kids enjoyed themselves and this was the goal.
spectacular view, service was outstanding, Q was very attentive without being obtrusive would love to have him be our server again. A very good send off to our college student who misses great seafood in Bozeman MT.
I can always count on Anthony's for good seafood. We made reservations in advance through OpenTable so I thought we might get a table fairly close to the window but were seated at a back table that had a draft from the front door. It was not very comfortable for my 95 year old mother. They also brought my mother the wrong meal (fish and chips instead of fish tacos) which was corrected (about a 10 to 12 minute wait). Note: no compensation or offer made for this oversite.
The restaurant was awesome because of their great food and location.
Christmas Eve lunch downstairs. Service was prompt and courteous. Not a busy time for the restaurant and it would have been better if upstairs had been open (not for lunch service). Anthony’s does a nice job of service and food quality.
Service was very slow. A tablespoon of some type of vegetable, a slightly larger portion of potato, and a very small steak for $48.00 has turned me off to Anthony's Homeport. I will not be returning.
WE had a lovely brunch for the second year in a row. Had requested a semi private room like we had last year but instead got a long table we could all sit at and we were by the bar, so had a little xtra room for gifts and to move around to peak with each other. This is a family tradition as we re so spread out that it was wonderful to find something fairly close to all of us. Thank you and look forward to celebrating there again next year.
Sadly I have detected a decline in what was once my favorite go to restaurant. I have to admit most of the dishes served to my quests was well done. However. The meat my personal choice one of the more expensive dishes on the menu was a disappointment. The meat was rather bland and had a pasty texture and the sauce on the entree was almost none existent. Also the menu seems to be shrinking with some of my favorites now none existent. I hope this was a one time event and I will try again and hopefully not be disappointed.
My wife & I took our son out to dinner as a belated birthday celebration.
We all enjoyed the food. Everything was cooked perfectly, and our server was very polite and took good care of us.
Overall a good experience. Food was good, all staff were pleasant and helpful. The noise level is always a bit much when we have gone on the evenings but this time it was a bit over the top because of several holiday parties, especially one of the one sitting right next to us.
Good food, not great as in previous visits. Prices have increased a bunch for the Sunset Diner since our last visit.
Good food, great dessert. Seating (for 4) was tight and pretty far from windows. Great service.
For our 51st anniversary, we chose Antony's Home Port for a dinner with another couple. Our waiter acknowledged our special occasion and her service was excellent as she repeatedly checked on us to see if we wanted anything. We all commented on the great food also. The problem we had was that a group of 6-8 single women at the table next to us were out for the evening and were very boisterous which was probably heard throughout much of the restaurant. We had difficulty having a conversation with our friends but were reluctant to complain as we didn't feel it was our place to spoil their partying. Nothing was done by the staff to calm their loud laughter and talking which made our evening much less enjoyable. I would expect the restaurant to train their staff to properly deal with disruptive customers especially when the restaurant is full on a weekend evening.
Always have and always will be recommending Anthony's. Appreciate your great place!!!!
Outstanding food service and value
Q the waiter was wonderful. His concern for a spicy virgin bloody Mary was greatly appreciated when he double checked on his own to make sure there was NO ALCOHOL! The meal was lovely and not rushed. Thank you Q and Anthony's Homeport Des Moines for an exceptional dining experience!
Sat in the upstairs bar was great as usual. Server was wonderful and “on it”.
Amazing food as always, waitress was great!
I normally don't do many reviews because I know that food and service can vary and typically is acceptable. On this occasion I feel that I must say something about the quality of the food. I have had marginal food at Anthony's before, but never felt totally underwhelmed by my earlier experiences. On this occasion I brought my father out for a 90th birthday brunch with the entire family.
I can't speak for everyone's meal so I will note my own own. I ordered the Northwest Dungeness Crab Cake Bowl. This was to be an Anthony's award wining crab cake, it was about 2" across and was cooked to a crisp, very little crab taste and the over medium eggs were cooked well done. The mornay sauce was also totally bland with no discernible taste at all, as was the case for the potatoes. I shouldn't have had to put ketchup on a $26 plate to add flavor, but that is what I did.
Northwest Dungeness Crab Cake Bowl*
Our award-winning Dungeness crab cake topped with eggs over medium, Yukon Gold fisherman’s potatoes and grilled sourdough with a drizzle of Mornay - 26
The bright spot was the service. Our server was very attentive despite the dinning room being obviously under staffed. I can't fault her level of service given the number of diners.
Love this location and the food is amazing!
Group of 4, moms bday dinner, restaurant not busy, service not great. Desserts could use an upgrade.
Tables are close together and somewhat stacked vertically. Marina view is good. My kingdom for a private-like booth with a water view and somewhat removed from others. Voices from other diners was just below interfering with our conversation. Overall, like the place. Definite family and larger group vibe.
Noise level was low. The service was excellent. The salmon was perfect. A great experience.
Annual Lobster Dinner was excellent. The rice pilaf is always one of my favorites and the zucchini was tasty. Caesar and clam chowder were good as was the fettuccine with 1/2 lobster tail.
Anthony’s always does such a nice job.
ALWAYS consistently good. Others may feel there are better seafood restaurants , but Anthony’s delivers a consistently good experience every time.
I would like to know how they get the smallest clams I’ve ever seen into the large shells? Seems they have lost their soul to be a quality restaurant!
Lobster and Caesar salad was really good. Steak was under cooked. Bailey's mousse was amazing! Service was excellent and ambiance was perfect.
