one of the best Indian Restaurants in Manhattan for the money
Everything was amazing. The food and the service very very good we loved it. The only thing I didn’t like is the bathroom, it seemed a little dirty! But besides that, everything was great!!
The manager was very rude & lied to us about table availability eve though we had a booking, the food was poor. I used to be a regular customer to this restaurant but now definitely this is my last visit.
Relaxed and warm atmosphere combines with extraordinary Indian food. Highly recommended.
Delicious and creative vegetarian. Healthy, not greasy. Nice atmosphere in main dining area. Service was a bit intrusive (too frequent interrupting water refill, etc). Most tables for 2 feel like a dark, busy narrow hallway.
The food at Amma is of the highest level and we are enjoying trying all the delicious dishes on the menu.
a lot of hype for not a lot of greatness. Service on Valentine’s Day was not good. Table was worst in the restaurant and shouldn’t have even placed a table at the door, where the door hit my chair everytime it opened. Food was good but dessert to “share” was literally a single bite. Embarrassing especially on V day. Maybe they couldn’t handle the busy holiday. Just not great.
Excellent food, excellent service. A real gem. We had the variety of samosas, a special chicken appetizer and salmon, chicken makani and lamb vindaloo with various naans. All wonderful.
Food was excellent, very fresh homemade taste.
This is one of the two best Indian restaurants in which I have eaten. (The other one is in London). The spices are artfully blended to produce subtle flavor combinations. Everything I and my wife have had has been excellent.
I think thatAmma has THE Best Indian food in New York City. I got Goa shrimp for an appetizer. It was phenomenal. And then I got tandoori lamb chops done perfectly and extraordinaire. I also got baby eggplant as a side. For bread I got paratha. The food and service are outstanding at Amma.
Chicken tikka was delicious but the daal makhani was not. Place kind of small. We didn’t get the best table in the house. It was just ok.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience at Amma. The wine steward was both well informed and charming. Our paired tasting menu was superb! The wait staff provided just the right amount of attention throughout our dining time.
Enter into gentle quietness, lovely graciousness. Prepare for culinary surprises that will amaze your palate, a knowledgeable Sommalier who will introduce wonderful wines you probably never heard of. Leave happy, looking forward to coming back.
Attentive staff, really good food, restaurant week meant we got a smashing deal, and just made us feel good after our dinner. Highly recommend for quality, flavorful Indian food.
Amma is my absolute favorite Indian restaurant in New York City! It is family owned and the service is impeccable not to mention the cuisine is delectable and has been consistently delicious every single time! I cannot recommend Amma enough.
Service was good. Food mediocre and expensive.
Our office loves to come here for special occasions (staff birthday, etc.). This time we were here during Restaurant Week, and enjoyed the prix fixe offerings. Everyone got something different and we all sampled everything. Particular standouts were the chili mushroom, the chicken tikka masala, and the mixed vegetables. Oh, and the desserts -the carrot pudding was the biggest hit. Amma is worth it - go!
Superb Tasting Menu. Creative, delightful presentation and exquisite flavors.
Amazing food, kind and efficient staff with nice, quiet ambience. I will go back next trip to NYC!
You can’t beat the $50 tasting menu at Amma! We were able to try so many delicious things and definitely overate. The plate of naan was a feast for the eyes! We will definitely be coming back.
Excellent food and service. Would go back and also recommend to others
My husband and I visited Amma for the first time last week and were very impressed by the food which was incredibly flavorful and nuanced. The menu has amazing range and we cannot wait to go back.
Amma is always great as well as the impeccable service. Best Indian food in NYC !
We took a friend there for a big birthday, and it was fabulous. Beautiful intimate setting, welcoming staff, fantastic food!!
Great service, delicious food
One of the best Indian Restaurants anywhere. Where else would you find a wine sommelier?
The best indian restaurante in the world for me. The samosas are amazing
This cozy little Indian restaurant is conveniently located in Midtown. Please note there is really no waiting area so time your arrival accordingly. Service was excellent, attentive and we were not rushed even though it was a busy Saturday night. The food was good, not the best Indian I ever had but it was very tasty.
I would return to the restaurant if I was in the area again.
Amma is far and away my favorite Indian restaurant in NYC. The food is absolutely wonderful.
amazing find... the food is delicious and at an incredible value. Very much recommended
We had a wonderful time! I find this restaurant simple and elegant with good attention to detail and very good food
Wonderful as usual. Been coming here for 10+ yrs, and always a treat with great staff and service.
Food was delicious! We got the three course lunch special. Nice to try three different food items.
We loved the food and the restaurant. We will return.
Mediocre Indian foods in Manhattan. At best OK. Most yummy thing is the Okra. Very good. The samosas were heavy, tasteless- not good. Lamb chops were palatable at best. All in all just OK
Great food and service. Highly recommend. Staff extremely friendly and care about what you want and how to make dinner a great experience.
The food was delicious. I had the Dum Aloo and found it tasty and satisfying. We appreciated that a sommelier was available to help pair wine with our meal. A great meal in very pleasant surroundings. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys Indian food.
