Best steak yet in Glasgow and sides of broccoli amazing although the Mac n cheese side was bland needed a stronger cheese. Desert was lovely and overall we enjoyed. Service was great staff were helpful and efficient

I felt the meal was very overpriced at over £90 for two courses for two people. The starter was very poor, basically 2 tomatoes cut up with a couple of cubes of cheese priced at over £8.00. It was also very noisy, couldn't hear ourselves speak at times.

This is a hidden gem underneath Glasgow Central Station - ambience, service, quality of food are all exceptional. Also has a great bar with large selection of drinks. My wife and I had the Chateaubriand which was fantastic and accompanied by very friendly and efficient staff.

Very nice chateaubriand and duck fat chips, but the other sides were unremarkable.
Didn't want to overdo things with starters, so just had the sourdough bread and cafe de paris butter. This was just some very average thin slices of slightly dry, unwarmed bread. The side salad that came with the beef was well dressed, but the large chunks of unripe, cold tomato were virtually inedible.
However, the beef was lovely and I'd recommend the Priorat to accompany.
Ambience a little cold, due to the blueish lighting. Think something "warmer" might make a big difference.
Very nice wait staff.

Excellent venue for lunch with family, we had ribeye and fillet steaks - the food was exceptional. Staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent experience and will certainly be back. Only criticism is that I felt the food was a bit over-priced.

I was asked at the time of booking if it was a special occasion, I answered Anniversary. No mention of it from staff so I really don’t see the point of asking.

One member of staff was very curt with her answer when asked what the chicken is served with. The reply was As it says.... and then after a pause she reread the menu description. On occasion potatoes or similar accompany mains as well and there was no need for her to belittle my guest. The tone implied that she should have read it.
We asked the same member of staff the quantity of wine in a carafe as it doesn’t state on the menu. She replied 250ml I think enough for a couple of glasses. This really let the restaurant down. I excused myself and asked at the bar who informed me it was half a bottle. By then they had ordered a full bottle, so to late to change.

The food was delicious, we ate from the market menu for that day, but the service we received will certainly affect wether I return or not. Not the best meal for my wedding anniversary.

Absolutely loved my steak and chips. Had the early dinner special with a mackerel starter which was very small but very tasty followed by steak and chips. Extra £3 for the steak on this menu in a steak restaurant??? Whats that all about. Extra £4.50 for side salad and another additional charge for the sauce. So it all adds up. But service was excellent even when they got busy and their food was quite exceptional including their chocolate brownie desert.

My partner and I went to Alston's bar & beef for his birthday and had excellent food and great customer service! They also have a lovely selection of cocktails. The only downsides for us were that their very blue lighting gives the food a bit of an odd look and it was a little stuffy (possibly due to the very humid and warm weather though). Overall, we had a great night!

Absolutely delicious meal. All the servers were so polite and attentive yet not overbearing.

Seating is spacious and well laid out; however, due to it being a Friday night the bar did create quite a lot of noise...wouldn't put me off coming back though! Might try a different night to see what it's like.

Have already recommended to several friends and will be back again!

Lovely lunch, although we did have a bit of a wait for our first course even though the place was quiet! Didn’t mind though. Staff were very nice and apologised for delay. A lovely young man brought us some delicious honeycomb when we asked if there was a wee sweet thing to go with our coffee! Didn’t need to do that. Would not hesitate to recommend Alston Bar and Beef. We shall be back.

Hutchinson’s previous week was far superior, customer service was bland .

Loved our gin cocktails and Chateaubriand - cooked to perfection and amazing sauces. Would probably recommend they included some vegetables as part of the main course. I was quite surprised that nothing was included other than the beef! Will be back!

It wasn't busy for a Thursday night at 7pm. Once seated, took ages to take our drink and food order. The couple next to us got their drink order first and we were seated before them. We were sitting ready to order. When served we ordered food and drink at the same time as waited so long. Asked for a pink gin and got it in a small glass! It's a gin bar I expect a gin glass. Our food took ages to come and once it did it was really disappointing. My steak wasn't cooked the way I asked and the size of the rump was terrible. I didn't send it back as we had waited so long and it was so burnt on the outside but still bloody on the inside I don't think I would have had a steak left if cooked again. My husband's fillet wasn't great either. The taste of the two steaks wasn't the best. Especially in a steak house you expect more but was really poor. When I did ask for another pink gin I asked for it in a gin glass so not to be disappointed again. If you ordered a glass of wine you wouldnt get in in any other glass other than a wine glass. Once finished our main it took them ages for them to take our plates away. A couple that was served their main a good bit after us got their plates took away first after we had been sitting for ages. Never had a dessert as was feed up waiting and wanted out. The attention to detail to your customer service is important but not just that the food was disappointing too. Will not be back in the future. I hate to think what it would be like on a busy night.

Very nice staff and atmosphere. My daughter was in a wheelchair and the staff made sure we had an easy access table. The slight downside was that someone had left a chair at the exit to the lift so when we came down from the Gordon Street coffee shop it was a bit difficult to get the lift door fully open and for her to get out. Just a small point of someone not thinking.
