We look forward to welcoming you to Al Hamra.
Five of us went for lunch on a Friday. It’s some time since I’ve been. I thought the choice in the menu was excellent and, in general, the food was good. However, the service, while OK , was a little brusque and lacked any real charm. Of course, being in the area it’s in, it’s relatively expensive. That said it’s probably better value than other restaurants in the area n
While in England we ate at Al Hamra. It was our first time experiencing Lebanese food. The people who worked here were awesome! We didn't know what to order so a nice gentlemen took care of it for us. He had several starters sent to our table and one main course to share. Our kids loved it!
Realmente riquísima la comida el ambiente buen tradicional
Food was delicious
Lettuce that was brought as salad was not washed and full of dirt. Also my friend ordered meatballs with yoghurt sauce and received meatballs with tomato sauce.
I know the restaurante Al Hamra since long time, iI love lebanise cuisine i know Lebanon and up to know for me is the bests I tried in Europe.
The manager and his team were fantastically accommodating to a party of 14 reserved with short notice. The food, as always was wonderful. The chefs menu for mezze and mixed grill was a great way to feed a large party. Thanks again!
We were appalled that they were charging us a cover charge plus a discretionary gratuity- when we said that we didn’t want to give them the discretionary gratuity they started arguing about that - we would not go back
A n excellent choice for great food and service with a marvelous and charming host. I isit every time I am in London from my home in San Francisco
Good food and service. The restaurant was quite full and noisy with a number of families with small children.
Very good food and service becoming more expensive
I was extremely disappointed with the food for the price. I honestly feel like a £4 kebab in a kebab shop is better value than what I was served and charged around £20 for. Ridiculous
An excellent lunch to celebrate a family birthday. The starters are probably the best here. Fattoush amazing, Papa Ganoush to die for and sumptuous hummus and tabbouleh.
Mixed grill just right for somebody who is uncertain as to which of the meat selection to go for. Chicken shwama was plentiful and shish taouk delicious. Lebanes rice with vermicelli provided a good accompaniment.
Nice atmosphere and good service by very friendly staff.
Have been to this restaurant a few times. Really like the food but was shocked to be charged £2.50pp cover charge on top of service charge. When I queried it and said I don’t ever recall paying this cover charge the waiter was extremely rude and informed me that he has been working there for 12years and how dare I question it! Will not be returning
really good food and friendly staff but totally empty at six thirty on a Thursday
Food exactly as expected - good but pricey. The reason why I'm bothering to review is because other, earlier, reviewers have complained about the staff being rude, impatient etc. For our part, all the staff were exceptionally polite, friendly and helpful and al-Hamra remains a very pleasant place for lunch.
We have been to Al Hamra multiple times and always have a great meal. The grilled meats are delicious as well as the hummus.
I have never experienced such rude staff in my life. It felt they were the clients and I was the waiter! Rolled their eyes when asked for spicy sauce or even while asking them to explain a dish on the menu. Very very disrespectful and disappointing
This is a well established restaurant, but seems to be living more on it's reputation. In the past few years there has been no discernible improvement in the decor or ambience which is now decidedly dated. While the food remains true to it's Lebanese roots, being well made (well mostly...), the service levels and refinement that justify a minimum charge of £32.50 per head per meal (excluding drinks) is seriously lacking.
For the price point, the service and facilities have to be much much better. We can get similar food in other happy places. Will be giving Al Hamra a miss in the future!
Wonderful Authentic Food, Great Service very Friendly & Welcoming
Al Hamra is an excellent restaurant to go to for a special occasion.
The food is always excellent, and served nicely. The staff are helpful if you are unfamiliar with the menu.
It is expensive though
Really good food but to many extras in the bill.i new that there was a minimum spend but did nie expect some of the extras
We had a very nice lunch for 6 on a Saturday. The food and service was fine. The only disappointment was the cost and extra, high charges for items like rice and vegetables and service. It made it a higher cost per head than anticipated for a ‘quick bite’
A nice restaurant but was exceptionally busy on this occasion.
Excellent dining experience. The food was authentic with excellent service and atmosphere.
HAVE BEEN GOING TO AL HAMRA FOR MANY YEARS...NOT ANYMORE...PORTIONS SMALLER AND PRICES WAY HIGHER...21 POUNDS FOR A SMALL PLATE OF FRUIT WHICH IN THE PAST WAS ALWAYS OFFERED FOR FREE...21 POUNDS FOR 4 SMALL STUFFED COURGETTES...THE MIXED GRILL HAS BECOME MINISCULE...GREAT SHAME AS IT WAS ALWAYS A GOOD, REASONABLE AND RELIABLE LOCAL LEBANESE ...MAYBE THEY HAVE NEW OWNERS...GOOD LUCK TO THEM !!
Very poor service. When we started ordering we were told there was a minimum spend of £30 pounds per person (excluding alcohol) which we weren’t aware of when booking the table. Furthermore, we were told we have to order all our dishes at the same time as the waiter was too busy to come back from a second round of orders. Another table next to us walked out upon hearing the minimum spend rule and to be honest I was so tempted to do the same but we had guests visiting from abroad so decided to stay. All in all the waiters are extremely rude and I wouldn’t go back. Such a shame as the food is actually alright.
Do not go to this place. They charge you made up fees and ask for a ridiculous minimum spend. It is a rip off.
Food was delicious as always. Service can be a bit surly.
La comida es sencillamente excelente y el servicio destacado por la amabilidad. Las mesas son amplias y cómodas. La zona de mayfair donde se ubica es un paseo en sí misma.
Optional service charge added to the bill as well as table service which was odd but not a dealbreaker for me. Great atmosphere.
Very bad service and the food was less than average for their pricey menu
The main courses was poor although the appetizers were perfect!
I have been a customer for ten years now. Never misses its mark. Starters are particularly good.
Our foodie friend recommended this for while we were on vacation in London and everything we had was great!
Service was slow and disinterested. Food portions were ok but meat lacked flavour and was overdone. Felt a bit pricey for what you got.
Not good for kids.
Staff was curt and stiff.
Really rude staff. Very non caring attitude
My friend and I were served a plate of raw vegetables and there were many tiny bugs in the lettuce. We ordered 3 starters and 3 mains between us, to be honest, nothing special but it was quite expensive. The service was good but we didn’t like their billing system as more than 15% service charge was added to our bill as well as the table charge.
Food always outstanding! Service has improved immensely over the years and has been consistently top notch the past few years, thankfully!
