Excellent choice! Would definitely recommend it for tea. Great service, food and VIEW!
Arrived to find we had been given a table away from the window. Now if they were busy I would understand but over half the window tables were available. After waiting then for around 15 mins they eventually took us to a window table. A big reason for choosing this restaurant was for the view. The food was pleasant, no complaints here. They refilled when requested and were attentive. Overall the experience was ok but for the prices it should be awesome. Restaurant had no atmosphere. There are definitely better places in London for Afternoon Tea.
I had afternoon tea at the Shangri-La restaurant 'Ting' on Sunday afternoon. Overall I'm very disappointed with my experience. The food itself was good, but we had lots of problems with the service. We were sat in an area with few people dining around us. The staff were busy setting tables for dinner, so all we could hear was the continuous clink of glasses and cutlery being moved around.
Out service was haphazard. Only my order was taken for afternoon tea, not my husbands. Then only my husband received tea, as though I didn't want any, so repeated trips to just receive tea for 2? Very bizarre. Our tea didn't come until after food, we had to ask for it. We received extra sandwiches, but to say they were thrown on our table would be an understatement, they had fallen apart as a result. Just very poor.
We asked twice to be moved to where there were more people. We moved the second time when an improved table came up. My champagne had a little bit left but never made it to my new table.
Feeling very hard done by, I now regret paying the service charge. No value for money when the service is this poor, it took away from our experience. I can think of other hotels I'd rather spend £150 on afternoon tea, the Shangri-La is not one.
Arrived there around 12:00
Just few tables at that time of the day.
Service was great, very nice view.
Ordered afternoon tea, very poor quality of the sandwiches and cakes for £60.
Not even a good pastry to mantion, apart that next to us was a couple complaining to the manager in a way that all restaurant could hear them
After was talking on the phone with his friend ,on speaker of course and no action from management to attract his attention.
We were out celebrating my sisters birthday which was a very special occasion, but they never acknowledged it, so very disappointing :(
The sandwiches and cakes were delicious. We were offered more once we'd eaten everything.
The staff were so warm and friendly.
The views amazing.
A wonderful experience which we plan to repeat.
My Family and I had a wonderful afternoon's tea and an experience we will not forget.
We did enjoy our afternoon tea at Ting but the service was very slow, we had to ask for our teas after waiting over 15 minutes without anyone serving us. The food was just ok, the cakes being better than the sandwiches, they were very average for the price of the cream tea, which was £69 per person!! However, the ambience and the views were amazing so makes up for the disappointing food and service. Not sure I would recommend at this price, I have had many a cream tea and this was most definitely not the best.
The service was good and we received a window seat as we requested from the hostess. The view and experience was amazing. However the the pastries were too sweet, so we weren’t able to finish them all.
Had a really nice time here. Afternoon tea was great and added little touches for my birthday 😊
The atmosphere was calm and peaceful, the decor was great. The cake part of the afternoon tea was not as good as wanted but was still a great experience and the sandwiches were lovely
Afternoon tea at the Ting was a lovely experience. Went to celebrate my daughter's 17th birthday . Staff were very attentive and explained all the options and choices and food and tea replenished if we wished . The restaurant is lovely and of course the views could never disappoint. Thankyou , was an experience we will remember for a long time .
Quality of sandwiches and pastries are minimal!
Alan Tang is super! ask for him by name
Best afternoon tea I have attended, the service was brilliant and would highly recommend it. For anyone searching for a Halal afternoon tea experience, I highly recommend Ting at The Shard
Staff were superb perfect afternoon as part of friends birthday celebration would highly recommend
Although it was the day of Storm Ciara and the views were somewhat obscured it was still a great experience. The service is impeccable and the staff friendly yet professional. The food had an oriental twist so a couple of items were not to our taste but most of it was . However, you can have refills of any item so you can feast on those you prefer. Excellent vast choice of teas and coffee also available. We didn't upgrade to the package with alcohol which seemed a big supplement but we are from the North and not used to normal London prices so maybe it was a reasonable supplement.
Everything is perfect from the view, the tea selections & the sweets.
Wonderful from start to finish
Everything was perfect. The service, the food, the view
Love the service. It was absolutely 5 star as expected from this iconic asian luxury brand. Its not for the cheepos so if you are not willing to spend £100 ++ on the experience dont attempt ! 🤣 love the view!! The food and the tea was exquisite! Dont pretend you know what you. Ask the knowledgeable server of any recommendation and they can guide you to the choices! Will definitely go back for more tea and experience!
Amazing food at an extraordinary location. Definitely a place to go back to
Service is slow and not to the standards of a 5 star experience.
Beautiful space, amazing food, lovely staff. Our experience was perfect and I will definitely recommend and return
Excellent. Host and waiters exceptional.
Welcoming professional attentive.
Totally recommend the experience.
Thank you for the experience.
Delicious “Asian-Inspired” afternoon tea with a view that’s hard to beat. The staff were very attentive and welcoming - some posh restaurants can make me feel a bit intimidated, but not Ting. The food was tasty but could perhaps have been a little more Asian inspired? The portion sizes were just right, leaving us full but still able to move! All in all a great experience for a special occasion and I would definitely recommend it.
The service was a little too slow, cakes and pastries were not explained. Drinks took a while to arrive. No offer of box for remainder of tea not eaten. The whole experience could have been more polished. Would not return again.
Absolutely superb! If I had to be picky the only thing that I could fault was how they presented the sandwiches, for me that was not in keeping with the rest of the presentation
Great views but the flavours weren’t very standout. Sandwiches in particular were quite lacking in flavour aside from the coronation chicken.
I just expected a little more wow on the food front for the price.
We visited for my partners 30th Birthday celebrations, Alina was our waitress and both advised us and welcomed us with a 5 star service. I’d highly recommend for anyone to pay Ting a visit.
This was my second time at Ting for Afternoon Tea. The first time, which was January of 2019, was incredible and memorable. So, I was looking forward to returning with my fiancé while in London for only two days. Unfortunately, this time around the experience was beyond disappointing. Even though we requested a table by the window months in advanced, we were seated at a table with extremely limited views and very close to another table, which as we looked around the restaurant is the only table with that kind of set up. The food and service were also average, especially compared to our last visit. Even though we had a later booking during our first visit, it was a much more leisure and drawn out experience, with most tables spending at least two hours there. This time we were told the kitchen was closing soon after we arrived. Also, a good chunk of our time there was spent with the waitstaff resetting tables and even a vacuum being run while we waited for our check. Sadly, beyond disappointing and felt like a waste of money.
Really good service and experience
Everything about our experience was beautiful! What an experience!
Our table was reserved for 1500 hrs and we were seated promptly. However, at 1540 hrs we had still not even received our first pot of tea. When we complained we were told it was because one of our table guests had a shell fish allergy and the chef was preparing our afternoon separately. This was complete rubbish as our service was presented in exactly the same manner as everyone else AND despite our advising of the allergy and their acknowldgement of same, prawns were also served to the person with the shellfish allergy.
Outstanding experience. Positively brilliant service with excellent recommendations. The scones were the best we’ve ever had.
First of all the service was poor - the person who served the tea took the strainer away with them so we couldn’t pour more tea and when we asked for it to be brought back they o my brought one. They were clearly under staffed. Secondly they afternoon tea food was atrocious. The cake plate looked like they got a supermarket fruit loaf and sliced it. One of the items on the pastry plate was an energy ball straight out of a packet! What a joke. We complained. They took off the cost of one of the afternoon teas.
We have been there a few times over the years and their service has been steadily declining but this was just out of order. Suffice it to say never going back.
Great service and great view, food is nothing special to wow us.
More sweet than savoury, the prawn cocktail is probably the best thing on the menu. Food overall was ok, teas were excellent. Service prompt and polite.
A great afternoon ya the Shard. The whole experience is wonderful and makes you feel special.
The views are mesmerizing and well worth the fees. The only side we didn’t feel was up to scratch was the sandwiches. Very bland and not on par with the rest of the experience.
Great way to spend a few hours in London.
Beautiful view. The camomile ice tea experience was different and cool. It was nice they told you to be ready for you are able to take pics. The afternoon tea was ok I have had better. We were asked if we wanted more sandwiches and champagne (champagne you pay) but not tea. It was hard to get someones attention. The asset manager cas (think that was his name) was having a go at a waitress on the floor in front of us which was not great and ruined the experience as that is not something you would want to see. The host were lovely. Went to The Berkley last week and would go there again as they were a 5 out of 5. Here for the view it is lovely but I wouldn't be returning. Not quite the 5 star experience for the money you pay.
