A Toute Heure has been a mainstay of Cranford, New Jersey since 2007. An early adopter of the farm to table movement, ATH is dedicated to supporting local purveyors and using only the freshest seasonal ingredients. A Toute Heure means "At Any Hour" and was designed to have a forward thinking yet crowd pleasing menu. The chef has a mastery of cuisines from all around the world and utilizes French, Italian and Japanese cooking techniques to deliver wide ranging flavors. Though the food is elevated, the ambience is down to earth and the service is incredibly friendly. A Toute Heure is a B.Y.O.

SUrprised to get a reservation here last minute, I guess thanks to coronavirus. My appetizer of gnocchi was way to salty, everything else excellent. Their mussels continue to be fantastic, although now only one preparation.

Dinner was just delicious. Each bite is better than the last one. We felt like we were the only ones there. The service was just perfect as we sat by a romantic window filled with candles. It was a perfect rainy night date.

Perfect jewel. Mysel’s were beautifully seasoned. Parker rolls could be a reason in and of itself to go to this restaurant

5 course Valentines Day dinner. Salad was ok but very simple. Lobster bisque should have been warmer. Cannoli was very good. They forgot to bring us our sorbet, we had to ask for it. We had ask to ask for bread also. We waited way too long for our entree. The beef was excellent but the potatoes were undercooked, hard and cold and then they brought dessert before we finished our meals. Since the service was so slow they had to rush people out to make room for the second seating.

Under prior owners, it was one of my favorite restaurants. Under new ownership, service was terrible. Ordered steak was overdone and poor quality. Noise was so bad that our conversation consisted of screaming to one another and still could not hear. Hot beverages were served slightly warm. I would never go back.

We had an amazing brunch for the first time after eating at their sister restaurant 100 Steps for dinner. Same level of quality and a more intimate, French bistro style.

Was surprised that we were able to get a reservation - under the previous ownership reservations were extremely hard to come by, sometimes not available for 3 or more weeks. I chalked it up to this being a Thursday night. Was more surprised to find we were the only diners in the restaurant when we arrived and that was the case for the entire time we were there. Reception was warm and we were promptly seated. Upon receiving the menu, we were immediately told that the catch of the day - exactly what my wife wanted, was not available, so she elected to get the Mussel Pot and I ordered the Short Ribs. We ordered the pizza appetizer to start. No sooner did our server placed our order did she come back to the table, overly apologetic that the chef informed her the Short Ribs were not available as well. Note: there are only 4 main courses on the menu and we were down to 2. At this point, I should have just gotten up and left, but decided to order the chicken. At $38 it definitely was not worth it. In all fairness, the Mussel Pot was exceptional and very reminiscent of the original owners' recipe.

I have dined at a toute heuer in the past more times than I can count and have had nothing but exceptional experiences. Friends and family that we have taken there raved about the quality of the food and the experience. This was all under the previous ownership. All that is in the past - the restaurant is no longer what it once was.

Unfortunately a gem is gone. I can't see myself ever returning and will be sure to warn anyone else to steer clear of this establishment.

They certainly seem to be trying. A few things fall down. The wait time for entrees at this price level is too long. But the food is delicious. If you are going to make people wait that long, at least give a free second order of those Parker house rolls. The prices are a tad high for this area. The wait staff is nice but needs a bit more gravitas for a place with this feel. Overall it’s great the see a gem like this is Cranford but they aren’t yet quite back to what they used to be.

French toast, bacon, coffee, biscuits, beignets all good. Although good, the "eggs in
purgatory" not exactly as described in menu which made them "surprising" but still good.
A bit too long in waiting for our food - a few patrons who came in after us - received theirs
much faster as we observed. Friendly and attentive service altho strangely, no 1/2&1/2 for
coffee - or sugar sub Equal - were available. You'd think these would be basic items,no?
This was our first brunch @ ATH - we've been customers since they opened in '07 and have had many excellent meals - and we will definitely return and continue to recommend it.

Small menu but food was excellent. There were 5 of us for brunch. We had an assortment of items all of which were very good. Our favorite was the Parker Roll French toast and the Breakfast pizza. The French toast was three rolls which were exquisite-toasty outer layer and delicate and soft on the inside accompanied by a honey butter and a light jam spread.

Excellent food! The chef works with you, if for example, you request a modification. The server was very personable. (The experience would have been perfect except other guests brought young children and one was very noisy - continuously banging his feet against a bench.) We will definitely return.

Came for the Dutch Baby pancakes during brunch but the website hasn't been updated and they dont have them anymore. apparently the main chef left a few months ago too. Their french toast is fried, which is tasty, but too oily. I dunno. Maybe dinner is better?

The menu is very limited, and we thought it was over priced. One of our entrees was a beef pot pie priced at close to $40. It was bland with mostly potatoes and chick peas and very little meat. The restaurant was very empty when we went on a Thursday night, so the service was great! The waitresses were very pleasant.

Fantastic meal start to finish. The signature mussels were a great starter. My wife had wild boar gnocchi. My main was black bass, my wife had duck enough to feed an army. Our dessert was sublime sweet potato beignets. Wonderful meal. Service was a little slow but friendly and helpful.

The tone was set immediately, wait staff couldn’t have been nicer, then the chef came out to speak with us. I know it sounds odd, but the bread/rolls were absolutely the best we’ve ever had. We skipped appetizers, went straight to entrees. The Pot pie(pork, collared green and sweet potatoes) were terrific. The pastry on top was outstanding. The mussels is their signature dish and the sauce is best we’ve ever had and that includes Brugge, Belgium. Great night out

We had lunch at A Toute Heure. I saw a lunch menu on line but when I got there the menu was very limited. The manager explained they were in the process of updating the menu and they will be correcting the on line menu. Lucky for me there was a lobster roll on the menu which I enjoyed. The food is delicious with good service but they need a menu with more lunch selections.

I've generally liked the food and service since the change in ownership, but had a bad experience last night after showing up promptly for my 8PM reservation and being forced to wait 20 minutes for a table, despite the fact that there were 2 open tables when we arrived. Predictably, one of the open tables remained open well after we finally got some food on the table, over 30 minutes after arriving, so we waited for absolutely no reason. Our server was excellent, but the hostess was ineffective and unapologetic. I had the steak, teres major. Pretty good, but too lean, lacked flavor. Everything else was delicious.
