We are regulars at 317 and have always enjoyed our experience. They are under new ownership, so the menu and chef have changed. We are hopeful the quality and great recipes will remain. The new owner came to our table and introduced himself and gave us a bit of his back story and plans for the restaurant. We wish him success! We’ll be back!

The food was very good and the decor is very nice. There were some rudely rowdy people there the day we went, which was not consistent with the ambience, but they eventually settled down. My only suggestion would be that they should up the vegetarian offerings (there was only a salad on the menu) by having at least one entree each time.

We felt rushed. Waitress took drink order and dinner order right away. No time to enjoy our wine and look at the menu. Courses came out on top of each other. My
Pork chop had to be sent back because it was raw
And then it didn't come out until everyone was almost finished with their meals. Definitely not the fine dining experience I had hoped for. Will not be going back

We were disappointed because one of the attractions for this to be our Dining Week pick was the cauliflower and mushroom Bolognese. It was not up to par Sat evening, so we were asked to change our order. Both the chicken and pork were good. Just not our first choice.

We were in the area by the windows, which was very nice for conversation, but it was cold. Otherwise, we had a great evening.

We had a delicious meal.. we love the space, architecture and the feel of the place. My only suggestion would be to get in an Italian Pino Grigio. Due to the Roundup situation some patrons would rather not drink CA wines. We will definitely return and spread the word as well !! Welcome 317 Montgomery!!

I went for a romantic Valentine’s Day date and was disappointed. Service was awful. Severely understaffed. Waiter asked our order three separate times and still never delivered my appetizer. Steak came out severely undercooked and had to be returned. The food was alright when it was delivered but it took far too long and with too many complications.

This is our favorite restaurant in Syracuse and we are regular customers. Several months ago they changed cooks. Initially the new cook seemed pretty comparable, but as we have continued to return, it seems the quality is no longer there. The special for the evening was strip steak and lobster tail priced $50+. The lobster was overdone and tough. The steak was very thin, and overdone; medium rare had no pink at all in the middle. It is no wonder it was overdone as it was such a thin cut. At home we prefer strip steak from Costco which is nearly 2 inches thick and manage to prepare it perfectly medium rare. For the money, I would expect an exceptional steak, at least as good as at home, and very tender lobster, and please, drawn butter on the side, not small amount spread on the plate. The sides were good, the duck poutine as an hors d'oeuvre was delicious. The menu items are interesting and tasty, and changed several times a year so it is not boring--one of our favorite things about this restaurant as well as the ambiance (thank goodness no obnoxious TV screens all over the place) and relaxing jazz music lowered for conversation, and service is attentive--these are all great! Please work on the cooking! One should look forward to eating out to eat better than at home.

A good bet for a very tasty dinner. We had the stuffed chicken breast and broiled salmon. The chicken was done to perfection and the stuffing brought a great tangy burst of flavor. The salmon was also excellent. The ambiance is quiet and elegant. The service was prompt and courteous. This place has limited seating so I suggest a reservation. You won't be disappointed.

We had an early reservation for dinner before a concert, so only a few tables were occupied when we arrived. We were seated quickly near a window, but asked to move as my husband was cold. The waitress was gracious and moved us over one table further from the window. Wine list by the glass was not extensive, but we found options we enjoyed. My husband had the arancini appetizer. It was big enough to share. I had the seasonal salad which was fine. Both of us had the pork chop dinner. Meat was cooked well and the sauce was delicious. Accompanied by mashed sweet potatoes and very tasty Brussels sprouts roasted with mushrooms. Finished with French press coffee. A very nice meal, attentive service.

Lovely gem of a restaurant in Syracuse. We were visiting for Syracuse University Family weekend and were fortunate to get a reservation. The menu was small, but contained something for everyone. And a small menu is a good indicator of high quality, since it means the chef is focussed on doing a few things very well. The food was beautifully presented, flavorful and delicious. Portions were ample. And the ambience was perfect... not too many tables jammed in close next to each other, so there was no noise problem! We could actually have a conversation! Well done and will definitely come back.

This is a really nice place somewhat off the beaten restaurant path downtown. Pretty empty for a Friday night . An eclectic menu, and the food was excellent. Our server ( who was filling in ) took great care of us. We will definitely go back next time we are in town. Highly recommended.

Nice place - it was a Thursday and pretty low key. Food came out fast, maybe too fast would be only complaint. Pricey, but solid menu and well prepared. They update their menu seasonally, will definitely go back. The street the restaurant on is really cool too, feels a bit like you stepped outside of downtown Syracuse.

Our meal and service was excellent! The Shrimp Primavera was so full of flavor! The restaurant was quiet and only 2 other diners were there, but we enjoyed the quiet atmosphere. Aaron our server was attentive and gracious. We will definitely be back!!

What a terrific little find on a tree-lined street (Montgomery) in downtown Syracuse. Beautiful decor, Great service. Delicious food from start to finish. Totally charming and delightful. Can't wait to return. We were celebrating our friends' wedding anniversary and our relatively new server -- Aaron -- took great care of us with a cozy table for four in the front window. Wish they had a full bar instead of only wine and beer, as this would be the ideal spot to come and relax for a lazy brunch on weekends with a carafe of mimosas. Recently there have been quite a few great additions to Syracuse's downtown restaurant scene, and while 317 is not brand new, it's should definitely be part of the exciting mix of where foodies young and older can enjoy a terrific lunch or dinner.
