Nocello is always fantastic! Great classic Italian food and ambiance.
Have been going since the day the restaurant has opened and consider ourselves regulars. We like it very much but one constructive criticism which will not impact our feeling one way or other is that at the end it would be nice like other restaurants do and give a biscotti to munch on with coffee as they never do that. It is a gesture of nicety and friends who we bring there and tha is many always comment on that.
For whatever it is worth but not just for us but others as well.
Average Italian restaurant.
Cute ambiance pasta was good but average nothing exceptional. Stuffed mushroom filling was cold.
Penne marinara disappointing tomato pasty sauce.
Osso Buco I had better by far.
Pricing on the high end for the quality served.
Overall experience good but very average Italian dishes for an authentic Italian restaurant.
Maybe is was a bad time to visit Sunday after Thanksgiving.
Maybe my expectations for authentic Italian food (not Italian American) are a bit higher.
An honest review - this was a mediocre experience. Seems like everyone gives 5 stars unless they had some particularly bad experience. But honestly most restaurant experiences have some good, some bad. The food here was good, though no dish stood out. The service was a problem. There is a large staff, but it is disorganized. Nobody seemed to really own our table, and that is never a good thing. There was a problem with one of our dishes, but it was someone we had not dealt with before whose attention I was able to get. That said, they did manage to get us out in time for theater. It is particularly convenient to Studio 54. And their wine list is interesting and affordable.
Our favorite restaurant in New York City. Delicious food. Excellent service and very convenient to Broadway or Lincoln Center.
It went wrong when we were told there was a set menu for Thanksgiving. Well, I made reservations because I loved the restaurant the last time in NYC and it never indicated on the reservation or confirmation it was a set menu. Also, our waiter acted like they were trying to rush us. Then, I asked for a glass of wine for my wife and me and he only brought one and he said he would bring another and didn’t until I asked another waiter to remind him.
It then got
Worse when the lamb chops I ordered were so salty I could not eat them. Also one of my guests said her meal was so salty she could not eat hers. Overall, a very poor meal and embarrassing to me as the host. And the waiter and servers never asked how I liked my meal.
Never again. Too bad.
Dinner business meeting. Food was outstanding, as usual. We have been coming here for more than a decade and take my entire family here for Thanksgiving .
The food is always amazing here. Good size portions. Quality ingredients. Perfectly al dente pasta, freshly made in house. The crispy artichokes are delicious. There was a fettuccine vodka dish with shrimp and lobster - there was so much meat which you rarely see! The staff all work together and they’re wonderful.
Food and service very good. We usually like to sit in the back. Unfortunately, there was a private party there. It was very noisy at two tables away from us where we were able to hear their entire conversation. Totally rude!!!
Everything is delicious.
REALLY delicious food and GREAT service - and we were a party of 11 pre-theater. Can’t wait to go back!
Took 1 hour for the appetizers to come out. And the another 30 mins for entrees. Don’t go here pre-theater or you might miss your show. Staff seemed frazzled and overwhelmed.
I’ve eaten at 1 Nocello several times over the years, so was very disappointed in the service and the food. The grilled branzino special was thin, mostly skin, face down in mashed potatoes and wet. Cappuccino was weak. Service was slow-/ we were ignored by the waiters for quite a while even tho the table one inch away from us was seated after us, asked to order first and was served first. I don’t plan to return.
A party of 7 of us had dinner on Wednesday. Food was excellent and ambiance was lovely.
Our server was a little slow so the manager stepped in.
He was very attentive and provided us all with an after dinner drink.
Loved this place! Food was delicious, service amazing and the overall restaurant was charming and cozy!
Food was excellent , Service friendly and attentive. little family restaurant in the middle of Manhattan
Great food and excellent service. Everyone attentive to theater starting time. I will be back!
This is a excellent choice for a romantic dinner, with delicious food and really great wines. Go there and be happy.
Love this place. Started going there 15 years ago and it never disappoints. Food is delicious. Pasta is homemade and fresh. Sauces are slow cooked.
Seating is a problem. The restaurant is small. We were jammed into a table by the wine rack. Ever time the door opened or when the entrance area was too crowded to allow for the door to close, we were blasted by cold air. We requested water refills which never happened. The salt level of the food was unpleasantly over the top. The veal martini was dry. We gave this restaurant a second chance. We won’t be back
This is our neighborhood GO TO place. Everyone we have taken or recommended it to extols what a fabulous meal and place it is.
Been coming here for years - food is excellent - service is very good and not stuffy - staff is great - makes you feel comfortable. Wine list is good and fair prices. Best value in the neighborhood.
Crowded and noisy. Noise in the back has nowhere to go so try to sit closer to the front. Good Italian comfort food. Many people go here repeatedly. Food can take awhile to come out and a little disjointed (not together) but all in all a good restaurant.
This was our first time at Nocello. We were quite pleasantly surprised. The atmosphere was great, very pretty and well laid out. The food was delicious. My ravioli special was fabulous as was my husband's parmesan crusted chicken. Would definitely come back!
Very accommodating service was really great and we enjoyed our meals.
We had a lovely dinner with friends and we all enjoyed the food, the ambience and the service. Hours later, after I returned home I discovered my fitbit watch was missing. It could have fallen off in many places - walking to the restaurant, in the subway, at the theater, etc. I called Nocello at about 10:30PM and said that my fitbit had dropped off my arm and was probably not at the restaurant, but if they found it, could they please contact me. Very soon after, I received a voicemail that they had found it! I went over the next day and the person at the door immediately went and got it for me. So NICE.
We so enjoy returning to 1 Nocello for pre-or post opera dining, and this time was no exception! After a rare Sunday opera matinee, we brought our tickets with us for an advertised 10% off our dinner and proceded to order unknowingly from the Prie Fixe menu. When we were kindly informed the 10% off could not be given with that order, we were given the option of changing our order or being given a complimentary glass of wine apiece. We accepted the wine offer and preceded to thoroughly enjoy the spinach salads with a warm egg and bacon bits, and our duck breast and ravioli of the day entrees. I was most impressed with the kindness of our hosts and the good service of the wait staff, besides the quiet and relaxing atmosphere. We are certain to return as often as we can!
Great little place. Great authentic Italian restaurant and cuisine. Friendly owners and staff.
Amazing, as always!
Good place for pre theater. Well priced Italian fare.
We (I and 3 friends) love this restaurant. Have been there before and will go again. The food is great, the staff is great, the ambiance is great. I highly recommend trying 1 Nocello and you'll go back for more.
Lovely intimate authentic Italian in the heart of NYC. Food is amazing. One of the favorites when in town.
I specifically told them NO GARLIC. TOLD THEM I AM ALLERGIC TO GARLIC AND I WOULD BE SICK IF GARLIC WAS USED. GARLIC WAS USED AND I WAS VERY SICK THAT NIGHT!
Chose 1 Nocello based on reviews and convenience for pre-theater dinner before show at Studio 54. Service was good and staff was attentive and friendly. Food was generally quite good but not special. We started with two salads. The Portobello mushroom salad was excellent. The endive salad was ok but disappointing (e.g., the pear was hard). We both had pasta dishes, one had linguini with white clam sauce and the other had scampi alla nonna. Scampi were described as jumbo shrimp, but they seemed smaller than jumbo. Portion size was fine and shrimp and angel hair pasta were very tasty. Cappuccino was very good. We ordered a la carte but there is a prix fixe dinner available for $47. If the selections interest you (we preferred the other choices), it could be a good value. If you're attending a show in the area, it's a good choice. But we both walked out feeling we had a good dinner but not great.
Had a wonderful dinner to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. Everyone enjoyed their meals so much we are still talking about it!
The risotto was done perfectly and the tiramisu was large enough to share. Prices were very reasonable for the meals and wine. Highly recommend and would definitely go back.
It is simply phenomenal. Love the food. Every one at our table demolished their selection.
lovely restaurant great location ---a zillion choices --personal attention --have already recommended it to a friend
The food was excellent. Especially liked the balsamic reduction dressing on the salad. Entre was very good. Very nice ambiance.
Nocello is our favorite restaurant. We have been going there for 20 years. Food and service is outstanding, and the owners are so nice.
Very good food and service. Wine list limited but well priced.
