Great food and service
I went with a friend and she loved it too
We will come back
Fast and pleasant service
Good value for money
Honestly one of the best restaurant experiences ever. Super Friendly and attentive service. Most flavorful meal ever. The three of us enjoyed every one of our food choices which is rare. Fine for vegetarians and carnivores alike. Pricing Fixe menu offered tremendous choice and even substitutions! Incredible value for NYC.
I rarely write reviews but really want to help the Open Table community discover this gem of a restaurant. If you are near Grand Central this is a very quick walk.
Very slow service.
The food was delicious! Everything we had! The garlic naan, onion fritters, and chicken tikka masala. I would definitely recommend and go back! The waiters were very friendly and nice.
Food was tasty, could have been hotter and refilled buffet trays quicker. Service was pretty poor not attentive to patron. Overall I would return great value for your money!
It’s a nice place. I feel like customer service “at the door” could of been better. But regardless it’s nice and quiet. Drinks are really good and I’d highly recommend their garlic cheesy bread.
Fun place-lot of menu choices. Very tasty onion fritters, excellent okra. Everything was great.
Best cod fish brandade interpretation I ever had out of Portugal or Brazil, where they are a must as appetizers
Sea bass broiled to perfection in a delicate
I will sure be back
Went on Saturday night around 8 pm. and relatively quiet. Seated promptly and ordered drinks. We then placed orders for 2 appetizers and 2 entrees. Well, only 1 appetizer came as there seemed to be some confusion with this order. Rectified quickly. Both were good-Samosas and one of their specials. The entrees were delicious-Lamb Korma and Shrimp Bhuna. Nice, and simple presentation.
We tried to order the Indian ice cream-they were out and then went for Mango ice cream-also not available. they brought a complimentary mango mousse-nice touch but why don't they at least have one ice cream on a Saturday night?
Anyway, pleasant and easy meal. Again, Entrees were excellent.
First they didn't split the bill onto two credit cards when we asked. Then they double charged me. The hassle with the credit card company makes this place not worth going to.
The food is good. It took a long time to arrive. My naan was cold by the time it arrived with my main course.
Food was decently good - appreciated that rice wasn't extra! Ambiance could've been better, at around 7 it was dead quiet and no music was playing, and the waiters were hovering waiting for us to order. Would suggest having a physical happy hour menu as well as they stated they had one but it wasn't on the menu.
Darbar used to be better. All dishes were way too spicy even though we specified « mild ».
wow.. the service was better than the food. Please don't get me wrong the food was incredible but they took care us from the moment we walk thru the door. The waiters gave us excellent food recommendations. Their suggestions hit that food spot. Great service and amazing food. We will be back. Highly recommended !!!!
Yummy Indian appetizers and main courses and bread.
Nice Indian restaurant. Food was too spicy (was supposed to be "medium") for us.
Went on Valentine's Day. At first glance when I walked in I thought the place wasn't going to be as nice as it seemed on the website but it was just fine. The food and service was great. I am guessing, the manager, came over and gave me a rose to give my lady friend, which I thought was really, really nice. He also had a great sense of humor. I would definitely go back.
Food was excellent. Best Indian food I've ever had. Service was a bit slow but still a great overall experience. Highly recommended
Good food, good service. Had a little mix up with darbar and darbar grill but the meal and service was great
It was very quiet and comfortable. The food was excellent. The portions more than enough. My friend and I had plenty of food left over.
I ordered items from House Specility and they werent even close to be called good.
Enjoyed the food and service for the buffet, very nice. Mike the owner aims to please.
Great dining room upstairs with plenty of space!
The food was very flavorful and everything I ate was amazing! The staff was friendly and very attentive😊
Birthday celebration- Broadway matinee with dinner in Indian restaurant - restaurant week in NYC
Mulligatawny soup was creamy and tasty - okra Crunch was excellent as was the Gobi Manchurian - Salmon tikka masala was good - the Rohan Josh was excellent- we were offered Kulfi for dessert. It was not on the restaurant week menu. We accepted and we’re glad we did. It was rich & creamy & delicious. We will definitely come back when in the neighborhood. Just wish they would add 1947 beer to their menu.
Well done basic Indian food, competent service, very reasonable prices, classic ambiance - recommended
Very good food and pleasant place. Service is OK but could stand improvement.
Great little place, we were the last table of the night so the service was all about us! Great food would highly recommend the chicken tikka
Good food. Good service. Nice setting and decor.
Food was very good. Service was poor. We were put upstairs and it was as if the staff forgot about us. I had to ask to see the manager to complain about the long wait time for the entrees to be served and then the service improved. Would not go back.
This is our go-to restaurant near Grand Central Station. The food is delicious (try the tandoori lamb chops along with lemon rice and raita), the service friendly, the atmosphere casual but refined. It's always a treat to have dinner here, but now I'm thinking, why not make this a weekly occurrence?
Pathetic food and service!
food and personnel were outstanding; bar was not adequately stocked.
Wonderful food and service. We are always greeted by Chris the manager who not only remembers us but what we order. He treats us with respect and hospitality.
The owner is wonderful and came over to greet us personally.
I love the food and staff. Chris is beyond a manager.
We wanted Indian food before a Broadway show - Darbar was unknown to us but conveniently located so we gave it a try . We were not disappointed. Immediate searing, great service, interesting menu, and delicious food.
Service was excellent as always. Usually get the saag paneer (spinach and cheese) but switched it up and got the shrimp with spinach and it was fantastic! My favorite Indian restaurant in NYC and I’ll be back.
Food was good, not much else was so only two stars. The obnoxious loud rap/techno music is hard to understand. We asked for it to be turned off or down, but no luck. I had to beg for a drink refill. Service would be one star. I would come back for the food. Making things worse at the end of our meal we noticed one of our glasses was cracked with a jagged piece of glass. Hopefully they improve their service...
First time visiting Darbar's, we came from out of town (Toronto) for a vacation. Portions were very large and we probably ordered too much food, however, the quality was amazing and the price was fair value. Nice ambiance upstairs and also quiet enough to have a good conversation with my girlfriend.
Would highly recommend restaurant
Great service and great food. Flavorful large portions. Highly recommend!!!
The staff was very accommodating to our large party with kids! Service was fast, and the food was phenomenal.
